Hello all,
I am overwhelmed at all the welcome posts I got on my 'meet and greet' thread after I joined the forum only yesterday.
On the thread I had mentioned buying a few handregs before going through all the expert advice here. Thought I'd ask the experts how horrid (or good) the names really are.
The are 3 letter .org domains - 2i8 (dot) org then 2uw (dot) org and 3iy (dot) org
Here is what I thought about those and why I bought them:
1. Found only 3 of these 3-letter domains available across major TLDs (com / net / org). So seemed valuable.
2. They have numbers randomly so were not as valuable as other 3 letter domains, more so as they're .org(s).
3. To my surprise some parts of the domain name were getting a lot of searches on google:
a. uw (probably owing to University of Wisconsin) - 1,35,000 searches
b. i8 (probably owing to Audi I8) - 1,65,000 searches
c. iy (probably owing to Generation IY) - 60,500 searches
4. These numbers mean nothing because of the random numbers in the domain name popping around the search terms above and they might all be Trademarks in their own respect.
5. Estibot evaluation:
a. 3iy.org - $40
b. 2i8.org - $160
c. 2uw.org - $140
Questions I had about these?
1. Are these of any value? - I don't understand whom to market these to anyway?
2. The best way of trying to sell these - Would it be through random auctions on Flippa / eBay / Sedo?
3. I tried looking up for .com versions of all these domains and found them to be on sale through Uniregistry / parked. Should I contact the .com owners to see if they're interested?
4. Should I look up social networks etc to see if someone is using these exact terms?
Any help would be appreciated and forgive the length of the post and the amount of questions. Just trying to learn the trade as much as possible with these domains.
