24 hours & GoDaddy Still Hasn't Released Names for Transfer Out

I sent in the Universal Transfer Agreement over 24 hrs ago for 3 .info names to transfer out of GoDaddy and still, nothing showing in my account's Pending Transfer file and on the incoming registrar's side I get a "Processing-waiting for current registrar to release names" message. Relative to other recent transfer orders, this one is lagging way behind schedule and I am a bit tight w/ expiration dates w/ these- should be OK w/ 3 das left, but still..!. This is, yet, another example of the maddening inconsistency that makes me nuts, and as is often the case, GoDaddy is involved. Eeeooowww!

Don't get too stressed I transfered one out from eNom two days before expiration to fabulous. Fabulous did all of the verification and all I got from eNom was a notice of the pending transfer email. It didn't change hands until the 6th or 7th day 3-4 days after it expired at eNom and they had already placed it in my expired names folder.

Some registrars will hold on to the names for the entire 5 days for whatever reason they have behind it. Others will let you go about your merry way. I think GD has to let it go as long as you made the request before the expiration and don't stop the transfer yourself.

Yea Once the transfer has been initiated the validity opf the domain can expire and it still will transfer deviod of extar fees. I have experienced this many times, so long as you have done your part, yoru done!

Good Luck

Tx. A little empathy is always good for the spirit. Ironically, my names are going into my enom acct.

The last 100 or so names have transferred so quickly- within an hour or two- I think the the lag in this one just stood out, reminding me of the time when the majority of a group of 40-50 names failed and for one reason or another I got stuck having to renew some of them at GoDaddy or loose them- or, at least I *thought* I had to.

Could you or someone else refresh my memory on the time of day that expirations take effect- as I recall, different registries have different deadlines. Also, if you could refresh my memory on this- once a name passes it's expiration date, does it's status change at the registry level? or only at the registrar level? ie before pending delete restorable or pending delete kick in. After expiration, is a transfer out at the discretion of the registrar or does the registries jurisdiction than kick in. I had this all down, at one time, but I could use a refresher course and maybe it would also help out a couple of other folks.

Wow! within an hour of this OP, the notification of pending transfers arrive in my email box.
Hmm... Kinda makes one wonder? Could it be that...? Naw... couldn't be.

I am having a similar problem with GD. 4 days now and still no transfer and I did everything right.

Ideally the domain name will expire according to the computer date and time
stamp it was first registered and how long for. So if it was registered on Jan.
17 2005 at 2:15 EST for 1 year, it'll expire roughly same date same time next
year.

But this will depend on the registrar's computer system that time, especially
where they're located. Once expired, the status will change at the registrar
and registry level.

After a domain name expires, it can still be transferred out. But the registrar
reserves the right to change their so-called "grace period" anytime and even
delete the expired name immediately, so it's always best to transfer it out a
month before expiration.

For example, Stargate.com's terms say their grace period is 1-5 days. So you
can actually still transfer the expired name out, but it's risky given how short
the grace period is.

HTH.

Godaddy may lag and wait for the maximum time by default. You can go into your GD account and actively approve a tranfer out once they got the request. I think this speeds things up.

I am transffering a name as we speak to Godaddy from Enom and the GD side has went smoothly..Enom side has contacted me as well but it appears I have to wait 4-5 days before they will release it making it a total 8-9 days to transfer. :)

Mike, GD policy is 18 days from expire to when they actively start marketing it. You do however have 30-45 days to redeem, after 45 days if it hasnโ€™t been backordered it goes to the registry for another 30 days before it is released.
At least thatโ€™s the way my account manager at GD explained it to me yesterday afternoon while I tried to find the best angle into Bobs backorder/dropped names policy and system. ummmm, no... freaking more confusing than Chinese trig. Intentional prolly.

I've got two .net's that took 5+ days to transfer out of enom and two .org's that were started at the same time - still pending!

At least with godaddy you can see and control the transfer process somewhat - enom's transfer is absolutely blind and horrible...

hmm... That doesn't match up, at all, w/ the enom interface that I work with or w/the level of communication that I receive regarding transfers w/ my enom acct. My experience is, actually, reverse of what your experience w/ the 2 registrar's appears to be. I wonder if we have the same enom interfaces. Mine may be a little different, because I am a reseller under a subseller.

My enom interface has 4 different indicators that show the transfers status:
1)OK Domain name transfer completed successfully.
2)eNom is currently processing this domain name
3)Action by you is required. Click here for help.(<-link)
4)Transfer was canceled.

I receive almost instataneous email notifications from Namecheap, (registrar I have a resellers acct with), along each step of the way. If I need to act, ie unlock a name or approve the release, I will, usually, see the email before I am even on the enom site. If the order was cancelled, the reason for the cancellation is stated. If I have a question or don't clearly understand the reason for the cancellation, I receive a response back, normally, within the working day, never more than 24 hrs.

I used GoDaddy extensively for several yrs and didn't have close to the same level of control nor did I received the level of support and communication that I now receive under my current setup w/ enom/Namecheap.
