Emerging Trends, Investor Strategy, and What to Expect in the Year Ahead

As we step into 2026, the domain industry stands at a pivotal moment shaped by rapid AI adoption, increasing digital entrepreneurship, and a maturing investor base. Based on 2025 sales behavior, social trends, and registrar-level activity, here are the key predictions for the domain market in 2026.

1. AI-Driven Keyword Demand Will Dominate Again

AI remains the single largest force in naming trends.
In 2026, expect:

  • Record-high valuations for intelligence, agent, model, labs, vision, automation, gen, and core keywords.
  • .com remains king, but ultra-premium .io, .ai, and .app will see 30–40% higher average BIN prices.
  • Startups will increasingly choose “action-based” names: Doer, Solver, Agent, Forge, Flow, Pilot, Craft.
Investor Tip: Acquire short, brandable verb-driven .coms and two-word AI-friendly names (e.g., InsightForge, TaskPilot, ModelCore).

Why is it that this kind of junk is churned out by people, who think they know what will happen in the future?
Do they have a crystal ball, do they have a time machine, what?

And what is the point of these junk and fantasy proclamations?
Is the OP expecting people to rush out and register names in dozens of extensions, all on the basis of their imagined future?

This all needs to stop, because this junk is just put out by arrogant, delusional and self-important people who just want to see their name in the lights.

You don't really know what you writing about and so you need to stop pretending that you do.

These are just guesses and expectations. We are not compelling anyone to follow these..Every one has their own strategy...these points might help someone gather some ideas...that's it..learn to interpret things correctly before blaming others

Then stop using words like "predications" and "Emerging Trends", "Investor Strategy", and "What to Expect in the Year Ahead". You know sweet nothing about the day ahead, much less the year ahead, for entire industries.
Your silly "report" is all predictions/conclusions/advice, and you are not in any position to make any predictions/conclusions or offer any advice - zip nada, zlich.

If you want to create "reports", then you should say they are your guesses and what you think might happen.
Oh and I bet none of those Indian startups will be going 6-12 months from now.

Stop being a pompous ass.

The only predictions I can make are that most ai names will continue to be sold by the Booths, Namecheap and Dharmesh

As for reports, @Bob Hawkes is the unofficial researcher and report writer in residence, and most here look to his data.

Hi Vijay,

I am getting ready for a campaign mode for the advocacy of free internet through a business model that I call #GoldInternet. My last few years on Namepros has been with a very scattered narrative but I am starting to strengthen my campaign with a more laserlike focus. My gold internet business model is extremely lean and may take a few years to launch effectively as it needs expensive infrastructure. However, I think the demand for free internet will grow to be very high and so I see 2026 as the year to sell the dream. My focus is to build a strong West Australian domain community who will work with me. I am not ready to make my intellectual property public on the internet.

There will be some limitations with the gold internet business model and so many wealthier internet navigators and companies won't be interested. I expect this to be a driving force in the AI industry for developers to work out what wealth class they are marketing to. I am expecting the tiered internet culture to grow in 2026. This should affect domaining considerably as the domainers must work out whether they are marketing towards lower class, middle class or wealthy class with their domain selection.

Forecasts change, but they’re useful reminders to watch demand signals.
