2008.INFO

very nice domain for 2008

2008 events :

Summer Olympics Beijing 2008

US Presidential Elections 2008

EURO 2008 Austria-Switzerland

80th Academy Awards (Oscars)

50th Grammy Awards

... various other events ...

it was first registered on 16/08/2001

it was sold on January 2007 for $401 (source: DNSalePrice)

it was resold on June 2007 on SEDO for $608 (source: DNSalePrice)

I bought it in December 2007

how much do you think it's worth ?

should I flip it for $2008-$3000 ?

or should I wait for a bigger-buyer/end-user and sell it for $5000 or $5000+ ?

very nice for a site with polls/stats about the US elections ...
or a site of a presidential candidate with info about his/her campaign ...

thanks for the appraisals ...

I did a small check and "2008" is regged in 70 different TLDs ...

also since they are NNNNs most years are regged in most popular extensions ...
eg. up to 2050 .com , .net , .org , .info , .biz , .mobi , .us are all regged ...

A nice domain, and I agree with the others... sell this as soon as possible so the buyer can have enough time to design and develop it.

I think you're looking at low $xxxx, possibly more if you can find the right buyer and A LOT more to an end user.

It's probably too late in the game for an end-user sale, unless someone is writing a book, etc. So, it's either get lucky or SEO this puppy in my view.

Sell it on eBay -- you'll make the most on this domain on there, I believe. Start it at a low price and you'll get some competition. Nice name. :)

thanks for appraisals and suggestions guys ...

I am trying to sell it quick (so that the new owner has time to develop it) but in the same time I don't want to undersell it .. eg. I would probably sell it right now for $3000-$5000 , but otoh some recent .info sales , the way .infos will probably grow in the next couple of months , the Olympics and the US elections suggest that it could be sold $5000+ ...

eBay might be a good idea , but there is also a big possibility that it get stuck in the $500-$1500 region (mostly domainers there) while I am looking for a little more as I explained above ...

the GreatD does not seem like a good idea right now since it is one day after the SnapNames Live Auction and probably many people will have "spent their money" or have "overspend" and therefore it might not get many bids ... of course that does not mean that there won't be some nice sales there anyways ...

IconPacks - I agree , eg. a politician right now would not mind spending $5000-$8000 for a pure "2008" domain so as to post info on the elections (polls , stats , campaign information , voting info , etc) ... also "info" is a word also used in the official US government site for the elections as I saw in a SEDO ad which advertise usinfo.state.gov

dnb8 - I know  , that's why I said "I prefer peace" in the beginning of the post lol

Keynes - I think there are still chances for some end users ... eg, politicians , independent organizations for the elections , travel agents (Olympics/EURO) , betting info (Olympics/EURO) , info about scores/records (Olympics/EURO) , etc ... also it starts to get some traffic ... from the 17th of Dec it got 92 uniques and 77 (!) views-on-offer ... and this in the slow-for-internet holiday period ... in the last 3 days it is starting to pickup , 11 , 12 and 14 uniques respectively ...

not again

I might try to send an email to the company you sent ... let's hope the sold at least a dozen so far so as to cover for the $5000 (โ‚ค2500) price ;)

jehnidiah - it would sell on eBay but as I said I would not really expect it to go high ... I might try it with a $2008 or $3000 no reserved start (instead of a low start with reserve since I don't like reserves) but I am not sure it would get any/many bids at that price ...

wow ... what I post ... did you know that it was exactly 2008 letters ... I just counted them ........ just kiddin'

Be brave and sell it on Ebay $.99 and no reserve. You will have a ton of bidders and bids attract bids. If you start the name at 2-3 thousand, you might get a bid or two ut it won't create the buzz you want for a truly successful auction.

a small update ...

I received an offer for $3000 on SEDO and I decided to send to auction ...

this might also provide a good appraisal for the domain lol

It's losing value by the day, IMHO.

Exactly, as sending a real offer of $3,000 here to auction is not prudent! :red: :imho:

I received an offer for $3000 on SEDO after some private negotiations on this forum ...

even though the domain could be sold for a higher amount near the US elections , I decided to send it to auction now so that whoever wins the auction has time to develop it ... I also thought that if presidential candidates show interest in the domain it is better now that they are 12 than after-February-5th that they will be only 2 ... this is also one of the reasons I wanted to send it to auction instead of just selling it straight off ...

regarding the "might also provide a good appraisal" ... a sale is usually a good indicator of the actual value of a domain (though this depends on many factors)

Awesome, that's a good price point for both buyer and seller. I hope the auction does well. :)

I agree, once completed, transfered, and sold (ie., past tense), IMHO. :gl:

Good Luck with your auction / sale! :talk:

I agree RJ ... anything higher for a starting price would be a little "hard" for a domainer ... while anything lower would seem like I would be short-selling this nice gem ...

Jeff - of course I mean after the auction is completed , the transaction is completed and the funds are in my hands ... any experienced domainer knows that anything before the "funds-are-in-my-hands" is not for certain in domainers' world terms

Exactly! :music:

Please, then, keep us posted ... once the transaction here has completed (and for accurate, confirmed "sales comp" purposes)! :gl: :imho:
