2008.INFO

very nice domain for 2008

2008 events :

Summer Olympics Beijing 2008

US Presidential Elections 2008

EURO 2008 Austria-Switzerland

80th Academy Awards (Oscars)

50th Grammy Awards

... various other events ...

it was first registered on 16/08/2001

it was sold on January 2007 for $401 (source: DNSalePrice)

it was resold on June 2007 on SEDO for $608 (source: DNSalePrice)

I bought it in December 2007

how much do you think it's worth ?

should I flip it for $2008-$3000 ?

or should I wait for a bigger-buyer/end-user and sell it for $5000 or $5000+ ?

very nice for a site with polls/stats about the US elections ...
or a site of a presidential candidate with info about his/her campaign ...

I think you need to work quickly on this one, not long till 2008 starts, so it may well be at its peak value for now.

I would either try and develop this domain and keep it updated, or try and sell fairly quick for a nice profit.

You could wait for an end-user, but this is .info and you might be unlucky.

low to mid $x,xxx at the moment to the right buyer, but finding that could be interesting.

:gn:

Good Luck.

thanks guys ...

I am looking for a (rather quick) sale on this one so that the buyer can utilize this from as early on as possible ...

I already posted it in the High-Priced here at NP but because it is the last days (/weekend) of 2007 most people are out ... I think I'll wait till the 3rd and post a BIN for $3000 (or $2008 lol) for a quick slae ...

since this domain is short and sweet (and symmetrical) it could be easily be developed and promoted for either info about the Oscars (candidates , winners , etc) , info about about the EURO (scores and stuff) , info about the Olympics (records and daily updates) , info about the elections (candidates , polls , stats , voting info) ... this could be changed every time before each event or be developed for all in the start with links to the info for each event in the homepage ...

regarding end-user ... I meant as a sidesite to a candidate for info , statements , polls , etc ... or as a sidesite for travel agent with info/packages about how to go to the events (Oscars , EURO , Olympics , etc) since the domain is short and concise ...

It's losing value by the day, IMHO ... how much did you pay for it in December 2007? :gl:

I agree with Jeff. This domain has the best value if developed (which takes time -- and time is not on the side of this domain). Good luck!

Jeff - since it is "date" domain one could say it kind of does "lose value by the day" , but hopefully it has either 5 months before being nicely developed/utilized for Olympics/EURO or 10 months before being used for the US elections ... also it could be gaining value as it gets closer to the elections and a candidate gets interested in it ...

... yeah right Jeff lol ... I can post the price and then have everyone offer that price plus ten bux lol ... regardless of the acquisition price , I think it has certain value and I would not sell it really low (eg. lower than the previous saleprices) , I would just keep it a little longer ... (PM sent though since I know you can comprehend/evaluate the purchasing price objectively ... not that other members would not , but I try not to shout about it since I got it pretty cheap)

jagusa - I am trying to sell it (rather fast) so that the new buyer has time to develop it ... if I could I would even sent it to the buyer before New Year's Day (eg. with Mass Pay)

Great name.
looks like you paid $270, which is a steal.
mid $x,xxx - low $xx,xxx imho
try to sell it in one of the big live auctions!

thanks man lol ... (and thanks Justin lol) ... this could potentially create a whole series of $300 offers with the sidenote "hey , you just bought it for $270" lol

anyways ... as I said regardless of the acquisition price , I think it has certain value since it is a very nice , short and "symmetrical" domain (with a large number of uses)

small advice ... don't buy a "year" domain near New Year's Day ... every time you see a "2008 this" and a "2008 that" you keep overvaluating your domain lol ...

i would flip it and like holyroller said the clock is ticking on this one. if someone pays top dollar they want the full years use on it. really should have been sold to its end user by now.

well , I just bought it ... it arrived on my hands on the 17th of December ... it had 42 visits , 49 "views-on-offer" on SEDO and a couple of clicks up until today (12 days) ... but as you know traffic is really low during the holidays ...

as I said I want to sell it rather quick also , for the benefit of the buyer ...

thanks for the kind words guys ...

even though I want to sell it rather quick , I think I will try to put it on the GreatDomains auction on January 17th ... there are already a couple of nice ones there (and a bunch of LLLs) which might attract bidders (and in the next 17 days many more might be added) ... plus many people might be checking the .mobi auction on the 23rd which is one day before the end times of the GreatDomains auction (17th to the 24th)

RJ - I've already booked a limo ;) for a night on the town ...

Occurs to me that not only is 2008.info a relevant name now, but years afterward would still make a great archive reference. People in 2010 could type "2008.info" into their address bar and see a timeline of significant world events ... anything of interest that occurred in entertainment, domain sales, IPO's, weather, general news, etc.

Fits the .info extension perfect imo.

Carlton - personally I thought that its value would possibly drop quite a lot after the US elections , but now that you mention it (and in connection with how the .infos are going in the last year) archive/info is a very valid point too ... of course , though , I still want to sell it rather fast so that someone can develop it ...

personally besides it being a generic , a number and the year that is about to start , I also like 2008.INFO because it is symmetric to the dot (4 characters to the left , four characters to the right) ... eg. I also have 2K8.ORG which I also like for the same reason (though with the "K" is a different story)
