spray paint!

Thats right... went to Wal-Mart today to buy some spray paint for a restoration car project I'm doing and the guy asked me for my ID... I'm like why? You apparently have to be 18 to buy spray paint now. I thought he was joking.

Since when did this law come into place?

Horrible what everythings coming to. :(

Ya its pretty sad, theres a bunch of teen taggers. A lot of them also steal the spray paint just to tag.

BTW, what kind of car are you restoring? :)

Yea, I'm not sure why they have an age limit, heard 2 different things... like you said with tagging and grafiti, and the other would be getting high off of it. But still...

Car is a 1967 Camaro, numbers matching 327, 3 Speed, a little over 12,000 original miles. Interior is near perfect condition. Just needs brakes and a little engine work and it's going to be a great ride.

Had several models I was looking at for a few months (Nova, Chevelle, Mustang Fastback, Camaro, ect.) The Camaro came first. I'll think about your offer.

you can't even buy spray paint in chicago, law was enforced about 12 years ago, gotta go to the suburbs to get a can and then drive back in to the city and graffiti :hehe:

You think this law has got to do something about preventing vandalism with spray paints?

in chicago yes, been banned for 12 years now, can't buy it with or without id, but very easy to drive 5 minutes out of the city and drive back in as the graffiti continues from the local gangs, graffiti or sniffing it would seem the reason.

I'm sure thats why they won't sell it to anyone under 18... but come on. People can go to a small store and get it without an idea probably (I know I bought some at Ace Hardware the day before I went into Walmart).

If people want spray paint and they are under 18 there are more than enough ways to get it - it's just more of a hassle.

The kids here in the part of Dundee were causing a bit of concern a few years ago, instead of sniffing the usual things such as spray paint, glue or whatever they were climbing up lampposts and sniffing the lights i think it was (something to do with gas it gives off not 100% sure)
