FaceBook Buy ? I don't know how worth about this domain.

Today I asked a guy that holding FBbuy.com,

At first I thought this can build a FengBao(Storm) Buy, an online store site.

But this guy asked for a x,xxx,xxxUSD price, I'm shocked. and he said this is FaceBookBuy FBbuy.com, FB can sale their new cell phone on their own online store.

Is this possible? Facebook really have chance to buy this domain?

Facebook can contest it but they would not win in my opinion. Facebook does not claim or hold a trademark on FB.

FB is generic and can be used to describe a variety of things. Food & Beverage, Fancy Books, Fantasy Business, etc...

buy is a generic term as well.


The only way I can see them contesting this is because of their stock symbol which is FB but that doesn't not five them the right to those 2 letters.

Would I pay x,xxx,xxx? nope! For 6 figures you could find a whole lot better in my opinion.

I agreed, FB is not a Brand, so you can keep FBxxxx domains. but the domain price depend on how much buyer want it.

As you said, you can find a whole lot better, but what is better? FBstore? FBbid? FBshop? or FBmall? that's not many options.

I think FBstore is good choice, but FBbuy is shortter.

It's really hard to find a good name for online store.

FB was never their original intellectual property anyway it would have been a resell they just wanted to shorten facebook and had the dollars to buy someone out. It doesn't mean FBI.com is now Face Book Intelligence.

Facebook would never win a domain like FBBuy.com but that does not mean they can't drag you to court to cost you money. I see no reason for them to do this because a news release could hurt them "a little" which would upset stock holders. Also, I would only pay registration fee plus a little as a courtesy. x,xxx is too much as is $100 IMO.

Thanks for your advice, Feng Bao = Storm in our country, it can't be FengBaoStrom or FBstorm, because it means stormstorm, and if a name stromstrombuy.com will be look stupid.

As FBsbuy.com, we don't use the 's' if the 's' has no pronunciation in the name, the 's' looks weird.

In your case, FengBaoBuy.com or FengBaoStore.com is a better choice, but I'll rather looking for shorter domain if I could...
