Hello All,

I dont hear many members here mention that they use the registrar 123-reg.co.uk.
The very first names I regged, were with this firm. I have never had to contact them until recently.
I agreed to sell one of the names (via Sedo) and thought this would be simple, as the buyer had the same registrar.
The process of the deal began 5.2.06.
In the mean time I realised that I'd lost my login details at 123-reg.co.uk.
I therefore told them, and they quite rightly said I had to follow a series of instructions to retrieve my details.
I did this on numerous occasions - and every time was told that my new details would be sent to me.
Still no joy.
By now, the buyer has contacted me personally - naturally quite concerned about the lack of progrees on the deal.
He told me that he was with the same registrar - and even gave me his username to expedite the matter.
I duly informed the registrar, who sent me a password.
Guess what? I couldn't access my account.
A few emails later (having told them that my password was useless)I still didn't get any explanation why the password didn't work - and I still haven't been sent any new details.
When the buyer contacted me a second time, I decided yesterday to 'phone the company. (50p per minute)
I explained the situation to one of their people, who assured me that my new details would be sent imm. to my email address.
A few hours later, I emailed them to say that nothing had arrived, and tried to clarify everything by going through the saga.
This morning I recieved an email from them. No login details just the same automated standard email telling me how to retrieve my details.
I'm so angry, I've just sent them an email. It began..
Sir/Madam,....Are you taking the p***? (only I didn't use asterisks).

I've had a couple of domains there for a while and on the odd occassion i've asked them something have always been disappointed with the response in one way or other. Cheap and easy enough system but no real backup when things go wrong. I think its just a small part of a much larger business unfortunately.

....further to my original post- yesterday, after another 50p a minute 'phone call, I was given another password.
I checked that I could gain access to my account, whilst the operative was on the other end of the 'phone and hooray I was in.
When I asked why the password given to me just one day before had failed,
I was told, "I did it manually".
I tried to log in this morning, and guess what? I was refused access!
I 'phoned them again this morning, explaining my predicament, and recieved another password.
I checked and found I could gain access. As the operative was stll on the 'phone, I asked why the last password had failed, and was told, "the other person had used the 'wrong format'".
Needless to say, I completed my business immediately, just in case.....
I just hope I can gain access just one more time - so that I can transfer the rest of my names!
