age of domain is defined as #years it was continually renewed without dropping.

if for example you regged a domain 2 years ago, it can never be 10 years old.. etc.

if you have them on flippa then it's the easiest way to get age. just click on domain name.

if not, try a tool like hosterstats.com

this will help you avoid problems with potential buyers who may be buying from you thinking a domain is of certain age, only to discover later, that it is not. as some people buy domains exclusively for their age.

hope this helps.

So, when I purchase a domain that is about to drop that is say 10 years old. It is a no longer a 10yr old domain?

I think age is preserved whne you buy it. maybe depending where you buy it, which auction site, etc... you'd have to check with the site where you boght it.. or just click on them on flippa and it shows age right there.. I was refering to expired or dropped domains.. that you reg after... those always reset age to zero.

They were most all purchased drops. i've seen advertised xx yr old dropped domain for sale for xx.xxx whatever amount. Just don't want to come across as trying to scam anyone.

yep... we're all here to learn. I was just saying the most common new domainer mistkae to make is confuse domain age with first time a domain was regged.

so if you ever come across domains you regged.. and paid aroudn $8 for (.com).. ie: regfee... this or last year.. then those are 1-2 years old... cannot be 10.. .that sort of thing.

if you pay them something other thna regfee, I think it gets a bit trickier... you may need to google it or check with the auciton site for more naswers.

all the best.
ciao
