Giles- you make a lot of good points and I'm learning a lot. However you are assume one thing that is deeply flawed in your thinking...you are assuming hand registered names are worth nothing. You are assuming I'm an average person...how do you know what my names are? Maybe I've worked in marketing on Madison Ave for 10 years..maybe my IQ is 150 and I go to Harvard. Again you make a lot of good points , but don't assume hand registered name are crap.. You would be suprised what is out there...do be so negative
MikeRoss1, its difficult to answer you question without knowing any of your names, so all we can do is try and answer the questions based on the quality of other hand-registered names we have seen on here
If you post all your names, or just 5 of them you rate as your best, then people can tell you, the quality of your names will change the whole tactic to your original question. If you have quality names, then selling them for $1000-$2000 each wont be any issue and getting the 100K for you will be easy.
If these names are hand-registered names, I can assure you that you wont be flipping them all for over $1000, maybe you will get a couple of good sales in the x,xxx region if you do a lot of research and negotiate well, but certainly not enough obtain your $100k a year
Unfortunately, whether you are at Harvard, have an IQ of 150 and/or your name is Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page or Steve Jobs, this wont increase the number of good names to hand-register, the facts remain with all the domainers out there, 98% of the good names are gone, you can always find a gem here and there, but its hard work and a better, safer business plan would be to buy names on the aftermarket, theres just a higher chance of getting decent names, rather pay $500 or $1000 for a good name that you at least know there is a good chance of selling
My advice if you dont want to hand register names and make $100K a year, the best strategy is buying future tech names, I did this by grabbing some cloud names about 8-10 years ago before it became mainstream and made some very nice sales in the last 3 years. Thats just another angle to take if you want to hand-reg names
To be honest, Im very curious to see some of those 230 names now, PM me if you dont want to post them here. If you have any future tech or cloud names in particular, I have a newsletter I send out one a month to a large list of clients and end-users. I can always stick your names on my newsletter.
Anyway, good luck and hope it all goes well for you
