A band owns TeaParty.com and apparently can't decide if they should Sell It for a Million Dollars or hold on to it to draw attention to the band.

In case the band is wondering... What Would a Domainer Do? And, How Much the name might actually be worth. Let's give them a Poll and Discussion.

Should they sell?
Please say why.

If not, Why?

And, if you like, include what you think the name is worth.

Is that the rational domainer in you talking or the jealous domainer?

Why would they rush to sell? The American Tea Party is only still in its infancy and IMO will be growing especially as the next presidential election term comes up.

I agree they should seriously be considering selling but who has offered a million dollars? I don't think anyone has yet. What should they sell for? IDK but if they get a million dollar offer just one week after all this publicity and take it right away, they will probably be kicking themselves in the butt next year around this time..

I'd say take the money and run. So how much do you want to hold out for? These are temporary domains/

The bands name can be changed quite easily...unfortunately as stub said domains do have a shelf life. I would say take the money and find a new band name simple and easy. Hell speak with a financial officer and invest that money from the sale and collect some interest ;)

I'd sell and move along down the road ;)

Take the money and run!

Don't let it be another case of "could of, would of, should of" 5 - 10 years from now when the domain isn't worth anything.

Sell the domain, keep the band name, and get an alternative domain.

Tea Party is actually beggining to splinter and with it the money to be made while it is still hot is fading. I would sell and thank the buyer for the generous contribution to the domain holder's economy.

Wow, The Tea Party, is this 1999? I thought that band was done. Seeing as their name is 'The Tea Party' and the .com version of theteaparty is parked, I'd sell and pick up theteaparty.com for a lot less money.

This $1 Million offer is with the 2012 election season in mind for immediate profit. As each day goes by, the domain is worth a little less. If it's worth $1 Million to a buyer for use during the primaries and general election, it's not worth the same to them if they are getting it 30 days before the election. So I would be very hesitant to believe the offer will get better with time.

One could speculate that the Tea Party will get bigger, but the likelihood of them breaking away from Republicans is slim to none. Tea Party is just a label for election marketing purposes that some Republicans have given themselves. They could drop the label overnight and suddenly nobody wants the domain.

It ultimately comes down to music related earnings through free publicity versus selling it for over $300,000 for each band member. The way they are using the domain now is terrible. There is nothing to the website. The linked YouTube account hadn't been updated in years until this week. Three added videos have only 158, 72 and 55 views. So I doubt the domain is going to create $1m in revenues for them.

I predict they will sell it.

SELL!

The Tea Party will soon fizzle out; they are too far right.

If history has taught us anything it's that moderate America dislikes any extreme group, either on the right or left.

They should pick up an alternative...like teapartyband or teapartytheband (Both now taken). Sell it, buy some equipment and recording time, maybe a new tour bus and split the rest.

I would definitely sell the domain. If I had a million dollars I'd say forget the band...

Sell now. And horrible name for a band, don't want to be associated with ignorance. They can find a better name.

I would take the million, as their band has no chance of ever becoming popular again, or making that much.

"The Tea Party released eight albums on EMI Music Canada, selling 1.6 million records worldwide, and achieving a #1 Canadian single "Heaven Coming Down" in 1999."
