Some extensions have character length requirments. However, even on the ones that allow that short of registrations, you will never find any of them available. For instance on longer domains, all LLL.com's are taken and in the next few months, all LLLL.com's will be taken.

If I am not mistaking ICANN owns the one character domain names and they were never released therefore I doubt you will be able to obtain one. And if you could then you would probably putting out some serious money.

I believe a few of them exist, but as CancerDailtyDot.com said, most are reserved by ICANN.

Single letter .com and .net existed until 1993. The unregistered ones at the time remain reserved today.

I've seen some domains like ฮ .com up for auction on e-bay at decent prices or some other weird characters, like โ˜ผ.net(read it at someone's signature at this forum). Do you guys think this domains could be valuable? They are really hard to type anyways.

You can get IDNs as one letter domains. Like Greek, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, etc. letters. Most of these are taken as of now but many are on sale at Afternic or Ebay. They may be hard to type on an English keyboard but to a Greek, Russian, etc. keyboard it's still just one letter. Mighty convenient for some overseas company to have a single letter name (or a redirect to its main website).

My 2c.

Overstock.com is trying to make their case of getting o.com if indeed they do release single letter domain names.

Much of the same case for U Magazine (http://www.colleges.com/Umagazine/). You'll see that they are trying to brand themselves as "U.com"

Just something to think about. You might want to search the USPTO Trademark Search to see how many of the single letter domain names have been trademarked.

As of right now, the search looks like it is temporarily unavailable, so you might have to try it later. But, just to see if it works, try it once or twice now.

Hope that is the information you are looking for.

just to be curious why are you looking for one letter domain ?? if it is a company start with a cheap domain and then work your way up :)

it costs big money if you want ICANN to release the names, also if you even buy it from one of the companies who owned them, they will cost you millions

I'm sure that even if you spend millions to get a one letter domain, its price will just increase. Appart, one character domains are a nice piece of collection.

Rumour has it that Yahoo have been wanting Y.com for some time.

No doubt they will get it sooner or later
