Hi Guys,

Started working on DomainMongrel.com for over a month and it is finally live! :D Definitely would like to have some feedback regarding the tool.

It calculates the value based on different parameters like Alexa data, Google hits, Dictionary value, past domain sales etc. Uses statistical modeling to predict a rough indication of the worth.

The site looks good, but on 1920x1080 resolution it is slightly deformed.

I can see #2 being the most accurate, #1 if I found the right end user, #3 - seems a bit high.

How are you calculating this on the back end?

I have attached a screen shot. The site is fixed and then you get a huge scroll to go to the right, where is nothing.

I think you would do well to offer visitors insight into how the numbers are derived to increase credibility. Right now, it just looks like a RNG.

Put two double premium LLL.com domains in and one came out at $16,225 which seems reasonable but the other only at $3448 which is clearly below even wholesale.

Of the two domains I sold last year, DomainMongrel calculated one value at 10% of the actual sale price, and the second at 60% of the actual sale price.

Of the one domain I bought last year, DM calculation was 80% of the asking price, and 150% of the final price.

Compared to other automated services this was a far superior result, and perhaps as good as an automated service can get. In my personal estimator I add one more item that you might find helpful - the Google Adwords bids for search terms calculated to be relevant to the domain name. Won't help for fanciful names, but for functional names it seems useful.

btw, DomainMongrel.com gives a $10 value for DomainMongrel.com!

Thanks for the feedback. I am planning to implement detailed reasons why a domain is estimated at a particular value. I will also fix the scrolling issue soon. Thanks for the screenshot.

Also any idea how to value other extensions like .tel .de .cn etc In general for how much do international domains sell as compared to the .com
