hi

i dont know if im beeing paranoid or not.

I just reg a domain and parked it at sedo.
When i login to my Sedo and go to listings i have this message

"We are currently verifying the following domains:
???????.com"

when i visit ??????.com it says im selling it for $200
The owner of ??????.com is offering it for sale for an asking price of 200 $US!

I didnt set a price on it because it doesnt appear in the listing.
Can they set a sell price without my knowledge?
if someone offer the 200 do i have to sell it?

I changed domainservers just in case

sorry for my bad english.

Hello,

It's a drop right ?

I think that's because the former owner had it for sale on Sedo... and he did not remove it from the site.

I've had the same problem.

Grégoire.

I stumbled this week into 2 domains which are unregistered, and yet still listed with sedo, one of them for $5000......

All domain name sales sites have various strengths and weaknesses. If you have a large number of names to manage, Sedo's interface is not the most helpful for name management- nothing close to what Fabulous or Afternic have available, for instance. Specifically, there is no method, that I am aware of, for pulling up names by expiration date at Sedo.

To make a long story short, how I learned of this was due to having lost all of my spreadsheet data because of OS problems w/ Windows, (just prior to backup-aargh!), and thus having the need to rely on the Sedo interface for some of my chores. I know that I have names listed there that have expired as well as some that have sold. I delete them as I see them, but am not going to do a major overhaul until I get to the point of re-entering all of my data back into Excel. I imagine that there are many sellers who would clean up their listings at Sedo, if their system would allow for more ease in management and offer more availability of cross-referenced info.

This could lead you into mayor problems if you leave unowned names listed with a asking price.
Once a buyer accepts this you are bound by legal contract* to sell this domain to him.
As you probably can't do this the buyer could ask for indemnization.
Sounds funny, but there are folks out there that just live from law suits, and play the games with ppl that are not familiar with it.
*remember the terms you accepted at Sedo

Expecially this is important for ".de" domains, where anybody can send you a "Abmahnung" wich goes directly arround 1000$ value without big discussion.
This eaven applies to domains listed w/o asking price.
This could eaven be made leagally by a 3rd party that has nothing to do with the name.
(Sorry I can't explain this german law more in detail, cause it would take some lines)

Appreciate the heads up. I'm going to do a sweep of all sold names that may be in my listings and delete them. No excuses, really- just have been a bit negligent in my housekeeping, and needed a little shove in that direction. Tx
It's just taken me a heck of alot longer than I had expected to regroup after my old HD went south and took files and more importantly, my "structure" w/ it. Also, the PC-> Mac OS switch has taken some time and it's been slow finding replacements for many of the apps that I used to take for granted- but, again, that is sounding alot like an excuse. :(
