Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

This could be useful. I know some people who have invested in .now have also registered the Sld+now.com.
But those aren’t matching names as per Atoms description, right?

I don't think it currently works this way, but it would be good if it did. @Atom.com any chance of extending it to cover @Velocity.Now's scenario? For example, TestNow.com paired with Test.now and ExampleAI.com paired with Example.ai, etc.

Also you could even get a bit creative and allow the singular and the plural versions of a name, for example: payment.com and payments.com.

Thanks for introducing Domain Bundles, @Atom.com.

Automatic matching is a good start, but for sellers with larger portfolios, the current process can be a bit cumbersome. Discounts have to be set up one domain at a time, and there is no dedicated overview of where bundle opportunities exist, or which already have been configured.

So, it would be very helpful to have a separate Domain Bundles overview for sellers, featuring:
  • A list of all detected matching sets across the portfolio (Plus & Premium), plus suggestions for other sensible bundles.
  • Checkboxes to select multiple domains at once to create a bundle.
  • Buttons next to suggested bundles, to easily apply 10%/15%/20%/etc. discounts in one go, with a price preview, and to enable, edit, or disable them in bulk.
The system also needs to be smart enough to keep bundles consistent over time, so sellers can set and forget.
  • Repricing: when the price of an individual domain in a bundle changes, the bundle price should be recalculated automatically, keeping the chosen discount percentage. A bundle must never show a stale price that is lower (or higher) than intended.
  • Listing status: the system should continuously check that every domain in a bundle is still listed on Atom. If one is sold, delisted, expired, or moved, the bundle should be adjusted or dissolved automatically.
  • Corner cases: what happens if a domain sells separately while a bundle is live? If a bundle drops to a single domain, does the discount disappear? If a Premium listing is added to or removed from a bundle, the commission changes, so the discount should be re-validated. A domain moving to a different price type (e.g. Make Offer or Premium) should also trigger a check.
  • Notifications: sellers should get a clear notice, or a warning in the overview, whenever a bundle was changed or disabled automatically.
Within a large portfolio, there is simply no practical way to manage this by hand. A dedicated bulk edit/overview plus reliable automatic repricing would make bundles genuinely usable, and would likely lead to more bundle sales for Atom as well.

Have a nice day.

Can we finally drop "formerly Squadhelp" from the thread title, or will it follow us to the grave?

It would also be nice if Domain Bundling did not take place automatically, but only when configured by the seller for individual bundles.

Agreed. Bundling should be a choice for each name. Some you may want, others you may not

Also, why the discount cap? It talks about allowing up to 50%, but this particular bundle (both premium ai and premium si) are capped. Why?

The bundling looks great, a buyer can now protect their lane, should they so choose - or they can just pick off either one.

In the case both names are Atom premium, commission is easy to calculate.

But what happens where one is premium and the other standard? Are commissions prem for the one and standard for the other? Or in the case where the other is plus/sapphire - would it be prem for the one and plus/sapphire commissions for the other? Or is the "bundle" price always treated as Premium commission?

Not bad, took you 10 days to launch it after my suggestion. Some might say what took you so long, lol.

Yes, there may be lots of corner cases. Also think about the actual implementation at transfer time. A bundle of 5 domains gTLD+ccTLD, with 1 gTLD under 60d lock, and 1 ccTLD with strict rules re: registrant country.

50% for standard/plus but if your bundle contains even one Premium then it's 25% max. Also at the bottom it mentions:

Your commission is calculated based on each domain’s share of the final bundle price.

Does this mean how much the prices of each domain contributed as a percentage of the total. For example if domain1.com was $2,000 and domain2.com was $4,000 and the bundle sold for $5,000, domain1 would be credited as $1,667 (33%) and domain 2 at $3,333 (67%)?

@Atom.com, when domains are sold as a bundle at one price, how will you determine the price per domain for NameBio reporting? @Michael, how does NameBio deal with sales where only a bundle price is available?

And does your code account for and correctly remove domains from a bundle that are sold via wholesale or some other edge case (I assume it already does if one of the bundled domains sells separately as a regular sale)

In general we don’t list package deals unless a clear value is attributed to each name by a party involved, so we can add them individually. That should be easy enough for Atom bundles to just do the math, even if it is negotiated down, based on the ratios of original list prices.
