Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

@Atom.com The Atom ads that appear on websites that I visit still show the "Black Friday in July Sale is Here" message. Just so you are aware.

Okay, this Guaranteed Offer crap at Atom simply doesn't work. This new feature is where the seller can deposit 10% of the offer price to prove he's legit and not a deadbeat.

I had a helluva time completing the negotiations due to the Atom not being fully integrated with this new option and the buyer messaged me that he also had a lot of trouble paying for it. He finally completed the payment today and I get a notice to provide the Transfer Code, but unfortunately the proceeds of the sale is missing the initial 10% deposit.

I sold the domain for $XXXX and Atom is now offering me $XXXX - 10% to transfer it. Who am dealing with here, the Godfather?

This is nuts and I've reported it to Atom Support so hopefully someone can fix this mess so I can get a Guaranteed Payment from this Guaranteed Offer before I start losing it.

Angry Family Guy GIF

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the Guaranteed Offer feature?

I wanted to share a recent experience with an Atom managed negotiation because I'm becoming increasingly disappointed with the lack of communication.

I received a legitimate offer on one of my Plus listed domains Friday afternoon. Since the domain is on Plus, Atom took over the negotiation. I responded immediately with my preferred price and confidential floor and was told that Atom's team would handle the negotiation and keep me updated.

The concerning part came Sunday evening when the buyer's representative contacted me again directly regarding the domain.

Because Atom was handling the negotiation, I did not engage with the buyer's representative. Instead, I immediately notified Atom about the additional contact and asked for an update on where things stood.

It's now Tuesday, and despite multiple messages and contacting live support, I still cannot get an answer to what I think is a very reasonable question:

Has the Atom Marketplace/Brokerage Team actually contacted the buyer, and has a counteroffer been sent?

The responses I've received have essentially been that my messages have been forwarded to the Marketplace Team and that I need to wait for an update. I contacted live support today hoping they could provide more information, but they were also unable to confirm whether the buyer had been contacted or whether a counteroffer had been sent. They could only forward another request to the Marketplace Team.

To be clear, my issue isn't that the negotiation hasn't resulted in a sale yet. Buyers take time to respond, negotiations can go back and forth, and obviously not every offer results in a sale.

My concern is the apparent lack of communication and visibility during an active negotiation particularly when the buyer's representative has continued trying to make contact.

With approximately 200 domains promoted to Plus, experiences like this have me questioning the value of paying the additional commission, especially when one of the benefits is having Atom handle the negotiation process.

But if having Atom handle the negotiation can introduce a significant delay in responding to an actively interested buyer, that's obviously concerning. In domain sales, a motivated buyer can cool off quickly, and I don't want the brokerage process itself becoming a bottleneck.

I'm not looking for minute-by-minute updates. I simply think that several days into an active negotiation, a seller should be able to find out whether the buyer has actually been contacted and whether the negotiation has begun.

I've generally been supportive of Atom and have obviously demonstrated that by moving such a large portion of my portfolio to Plus. That's why this experience has been particularly disappointing.

Hopefully someone from Atom who follows this thread can look into what happened here and, more importantly, clarify what sellers should expect regarding response times and communication when Atom takes over a Plus negotiation.

Sounds a lot like Afternic brokers.

You get a nice offer you might consider accepting, but you bump it up a bit and send the counter to Afternic... then over a week later, there has been no activity on the negotiation.

Does the TOS allow you to downgrade the name to Standard at this point and then deal directly with the buyer’s representative?

I just got word that Atom support has fixed the my "Guaranteed Offer" problem and the transaction now reflects the correct amounts for the Purchase Price and Net Proceeds. And hopefully someone has smacked the Godfather on his pudgy hands for trying to extract an extra 10%.

I wonder if Plus and Premium are different in regards to priority? Last month Atom emailed me about an offer for a Premium domain that was below the minimum price they could accept. I told them to accept the offer. They responded in an hour or two stating they notified the buyer. The buyer paid later that day.

Has anyone else noticed that the Private Auction option is missing from Atom.com? I was trying to add some domains for Private auction but I can only see the Public Auction option. Just wanted to check if anyone else is facing the same issue or has any information about whether Atom has removed the private auction option or if this is just a temporary issue?

@Atom.com If you guys could check? Thank you

@Atom.com - can you please make the 30 day delisting for premiums automated? Currently we are required to do this via chat. That part is not overly difficult, but it isn't easy to identify which have been requested and which have not (from the dashboard). Inevitably it's going to result in some misses and running afoul of your terms - due solely to the fact there is no online way to track which have been submitted and how many days remain until delisting. Preferably we should be allowed to do this all online - but even if the initial request must be via chat, you should add tracking on the dashboard so we can ensure we follow your rules properly.

@Atom.com the logos of newly added premiums are instead showing 404 errors again.

Thanks for the detailed post. This is not the experience we want any seller to have.

To be direct: the communication side of this one was not handled correctly. Our negotiation team typically engages buyers within a few hours of an offer, and seller questions should get a clear answer the same day. In this case, your status question went unanswered for too long, and that's a breakdown on our side. We've since connected with you directly and addressed it, and we're using it as a training example with our support and marketplace teams.

One thing worth clarifying: negotiations themselves often take time. Buyers can go quiet for days or weeks, and during those stretches there's genuinely nothing new to report. The issue raised here was about visibility during that process, and we're focused on improving that.

We appreciate you raising this here. Feedback like this is how we get better.

Thanks for flagging. Running both private and public auctions was creating confusion for sellers, so we simplified to a single format and decided to retire private auctions.

You can still list your domains in our public auction events, which get more buyer visibility. We've also just launched a new weekly public auction event called Expiring Domains, where you can list any domain expiring within the next 60 days.

Thanks for the suggestion, this was a fair point. We've now added a visual indicator on your dashboard showing which domains have a delisting request in progress and how many days remain until removal. This should eliminate the guesswork on tracking these requests.

Thanks for sharing. This was a temporary issue with one of our downstream providers and should now be resolved. If you're still seeing any issues with the logos, please let us know and we'll take a look.

Thank you for the fast implementation @Atom.com

Can you please add a filter/sort option so we can readily see which names are scheduled for deletion? With greater than a thousand premiums on your platform, I'm still unable to readily see which ones are scheduled and which ones aren't.

Also, I just spoke with your chat and at least one name which they said was confirmed for deletion does not have the "delisting verbiage" you show above (while other scheduled names do). Perhaps one slipped through the cracks, but worth checking to ensure more didn't

Would you mind periodically sending automated follow-ups to offer makers like Afternic does?

@Atom.com seems there are a few issues with tracking price alerts. It seems to be sending tracking alerts twice.

Also, the Telegram alerts mentioned the domain name that was being tracked yesterday but today it failed to mention what domain it was (it was a different domain from yesterday, I had to check my email to find out).

@Atom.com Can you test making the "instant transfer" badge more prominent? Perhaps moving the "instant transfer" badge to the right of "Purchase domain"?

It is currently shown beneath the name for sale and imo gets lost there. Perhaps "instant transfer" removes enough friction that it could lift STR? Worth a test imo

And that background of that badge looks pretty ugly.

@Atom.com common guys you can do better! We're not in 90's Netscape era anymore. CSS and HTML has many useful tricks.
