Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

What is the best way to monitor views for your portfolio? The top few are easy to monitor, but you have to go into all the rest individually which takes forever. Is there a better way that I am not aware of?

Views mean next-to-nothing, Repeat Views mean slightly more, but Offers mean something.

Once I realized I have absolutely no control until I receive an Offer, I started ignoring the "metrics noise" and concentrated on doing something productive with my spare time.

I can imagine some people spend a lot of time on Atom checking stats, metrics and optimizing domain descriptions / Keywords / Use cases etc .... does it make a difference .....maybe some but its tedious work and if you have a large portfolio its nearly a full time job. If you love data and stats then no sweat ... if not its time that you could spend hunting down your next purchase/s.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I understand that stats are not offers or guarantees of success, but do feel they are worth looking at. Especially if this can be done in an efficient manner. That is why I asked if there was a more efficient way to monitor these stats on Atom. It seems that the answer to my question whether there is a better way to monitor the stats is no. There is not any efficient way to monitor all of your domains' stats on Atom. You can only easily monitor the recent top performers of the combination of marketplace and direct views.
I didn't think there was but just wanted to make sure before making any possible changes. Best regards, Mlebo

Staring at Atom numbers on a screen all day has absolutely no impact on whether that domain will sell or not, and since domain sales are inherently random and unpredictable, there is no direct correlation between views and sales.

Only Offers matter, so spend your valuable time buying high-quality, saleable domains and then once a offer comes in, negotiate competently and make the sale.

Everything else is just noise.

It's just another rabbit hole you can fall into and make yourself believe you're being productive, when in reality, you're just playing a game that has no link to the real task of buying and selling domains.

It's like having a firm deadline for a lucrative work project, and then spending a lot of your time on Facebook, LinkedIn and X, deluding yourself into thinking you're improving your career prospects, instead of just wasting time.

You only need to realize one thing - that once you've purchased a domain and competently listed it on marketplaces for proper visibility, you have absolutely no control over whether that domain sells or not, just the illusion of control.

By listing on Atom and/or other domain marketplaces, you are the full mercy of the potential buyer, hoping he or she takes the initiative and makes an offer/purchase offer on your domain. The only way to gain some level of control is to outbound your domains and proactively contact potential buyers, but that brings with it a whole new bag of potential risks.

Why we are forced to buy excatly100 tokens for $10 as a minimum !!
What if i need only 50 or 30 tokens !!!?
We should be free to chose whatever numbers of tokens we want and no minimum force !!

Visually, my main objection to the new landers is that it looks as if the printer is running out of toner. The whole design feels soft, blurry, and lacks any real visual punch.

I see all domains in high visibility in search are premiums !!
Do you give the priority to premium domains over the good plus listed domains to be found in search results !!??

I'm 100% sure they do. Visibility at ATOM looks like this:

1 - Excellent PREMIUM names
2 - Good PREMIUM names
3 - OKish PREMIUM names
4 - Bad PREMIUM names
5 - Unsellable PREMIUM names
6 - Excelent PLUS names

an so on ... you get the point :xf.wink:

Normally Atom would try and defend themselves here, usually by saying how they are rapidly expanding distribution or that they have record sales, but nothing .....

Atom used to display Plus and Standard domains if they were exact matches and therefore high-enough quality, but lately, they're either not displayed at all or pushed way, way, way, way down into the junk aisle.

I did some search experiments with some 1-word domains I own and about half of them were not even shown and the rest were 80-90% down the page with the 'another word+word+another word' junk (cough) "Premiums".

I wouldn't worry too much about it (unless you're paying extra for Plus, which is kind of a tweener sucker-bet) as sales based solely on marketplace search results are miniscule at best. Spaceship and Afternic are exceptions as they use the biggest and second-biggest registrars for search traffic.

The first avenues the vast majority of people use when searching for a domain are:

1) Type the domain into a browser window
2) Search on Google
3) Search on other search engines
4) Type the domain into a huge registrar like GoDaddy or Namecheap

Way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way down that list is:

XXXX) Go to Atom.com and search for it.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking that Plus is getting squeezed on both ends...

Oh it is, and I firmly believe you should choose between Premium and Standard and stick with it.

I deleted nearly all my standards, pretty much useless having them there if not even "premiums" are selling. Already dropped around 200 premiums too.

What's the downside of keeping then as Standard?

At least it'll be in their exact-match search or reg path.

Exactly, there is none. So just leave them as "Make Offer" and treat any sales as a gift from heaven.

Apparently, Atom performs a realtime API lookup at dotdb to verify the number of registered extensions, and dotdb is currently down, so the check fails.
