discuss Inquiry vs Conversion

I've been seeing this dilemma for a long time now where I get a lot of inquiries but the conversions are significantly low.

I believe that could be the case with everyone and a lot of prospective buyers may just want to know the price.

Here is the issue:

1) You push the buyer a lot to buy it as soon as possible, and you are being too pushy. That makes the buyer not trust you and leave.

2) You leave the buyer by responding them late, showing that you have no urgency to sell and the buyer loses interest.

I am talking about outbound here. Just wanted to know where is the sweet spot and how can the conversion rate for enquiries be increased.

I had close to 30 enquiries over 9 domains this month for approx 70 domains I outbound, and 2 conversions.
Pretty alarming with the low inquiry to conversion ratio. Kind of disturbing to me, but that's what it is.
Want to understand and see how this can be improved.
Some of the things that I note:

1) Since people are enquiring, no issue with the pitch
2) It could be the pitch or the follow up reply to the buyers questions since they don't reply after the initial reply from my end
3) It could be the pricing. Usually between $300 and $999. Sometimes I may have over-quoted
4) It could be the buyer having fun or just inquisitive about what the price is

I will, maybe outbound with a pricing going forward and see the results.

Suggestions/experiences welcome.
