Hi guys,

As I commented in my previous post, I bought DomainTrader and I'm giving it a new look, my style is minimalist, I think I'm doing a good job.

Now, I have two very powerful domains to exploit my portfolio, the first is nameflipping.com and the other is hugeweb.com, with which would you exploit it? hugeweb can capture traffic from hugedomains, but would it look good ??

I try to leave a picture of what I am doing:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I don't have the freedom i need. I can't add apps or make any design change by myself. I can't say, hey i want to add a new page, like wordpress or shopify etc. I feel like i have to constanty be paying people even for the smallest things. I feel like you need some solid coding knowledge to take on this script. Or get ready to spend. Don't get me wrong it has alot of features i like..which is what pulled me to it in the first place.
I spend alot to buy it and then customize the theme. You can't even tell gotbrands is from that script.

But i don't have a store or a blog...it's a ok portfolio site that looks really professional. But i feel i could have done the same with another platform for way way less. I just got caught up in all the features i didn't even need. Maybe one day I will do something with it.

Lastly, I'm working on a new portfolio site/shop called " Launch Up".
So with this new site, I wouldn't know the purpose for this script...atleast at the moment.

Conclusion: it's not a bad script, it just may not be for me(my skillset) or my budget and the flexibility i need.

Where can I see your domaintrader installation?

Looks good how much is the script? Have we validated the script works?

Domain Trader is an old script, which @nameflipping is saying no longer supported. It's running with old code already. PHP 5.3, BS 3 etc. Both these systems still work. But the later versions work faster and smarter. I'm not sure I would want to invest in something this old. I'd want to invest my time with the latest versions of these softwares. If you have already invested a lot in improving Domain Trader, so it now looks unrecognizable. I could understand the enthusiasm. But not for somebody going to invest for the first time. IMHO.

Thank @domainer111

its true what @stub says but I mention two things:

1. I am negotiating with the domaintrader developer (smartscript) to buy the company.

2. I already have domain trader 4.0 ready, this works in php 7.3 with the whole framework and core updated to 2019.

The only thing that is missing is to finish creating the new interface, I am thinking of offering it in a SAAS model so that the user does not have to buy licenses.

That's great news. Looks like there might be life in this script in the future. We need as many "working" scripts as possible. So we can have choice. Looks like this might have been why you were so kind to Domain Trader in your comments :)

It seems to be rather draconian that you have to buy the whole defunct software company, which might be loaded with liabilities since it's demise, just to buy the rights to the software itself.

I've never fully understood how this SAAS model works, if end users are not buying licenses. Does that mean we have to rent monthly, or what exactly?

It's all very exciting. But will domainers buy into it?

What happens to all the other scripts they are selling?

If in effect, I am only negotiating the rights, the SAAS model will be like that of office365, I am Microsoft MVP dat platfrom and I have a lot of experience.

The idea is to offer a service where little by little you will be adding Apps / functions not only to sell, park, buy domains, also shared blogs, negotiation tools and in a later version integration with blockchain and crypto coins.

@nameflipping - I applaud your confidence. I can't wait to see what's in 4.0 :)

Domain trader script price ($1,495) is really expensive

Curious why people would spend so much for a "domain script" that is a basic content management system, when you could use Wordpress, WooCommerce and a payment platform for free?

If you wanted you could buy a $60 theme off of ThemeForest or hire a freelancer to modify it for a couple hundred

for domain portfolio this is the best script ... https://dndork.com/

but, for domain market...wordpress It can be a bit expensive for a custom job.

And the $1,495 is only for the no-upgrade version. The price is $1999 if you want upgrades. Which is a scam since it's defunct. On top of which the headline selling point is this is an Auction and Parking Script. No mention of Domain Selling (which is really what we are actually want to do). This fact, and coupled with it is using old software. Makes it a really no go, for most of us. The current interface so reminds me of pre-21st century software. Perhaps @nameflipping's DT v4.0 resolves all these issues.

I don't really buy into @dncafe's claims that you can use Wordpress/WooCommerce + a payment platform and buy a theme off ThemeForest for $60's or get a freelancer to do a custom theme and put it all together for $200. I have tried this. It's not easy. Wordpress is both simplistic and very complicated. WooCommerce's options will make your eyes revolve around in alternate directions. And tie all this together with a $60 theme from ThemeForest. I've bought at least a handful of Premium Themes from ThemeForest. They are all encompassing. And very complex. I have abandoned all these projects as either too complicated or did not produce what I wanted. It sounds like a great idea. But I for one, have failed to make this happen.

I think it's much better to buy a domain selling script, like dndork. Although this is abandoned. In fact, I cannot think of any great domain selling script, off the top of my head. But there are still a few. But maybe not so great.

I've built my own script from the remains of DNSPortfolio (which I have owned for 9 yrs). It was a free HTML/PHP/CSS script. I bought the code. It has cost me thousands of dollars to take it to a level, which I can at least use it on my own domain selling website. And feel "reasonably" satisfied with it. It already needs another complete overhaul in it's appearance and code structure. I have no idea where to do this at a reasonable price, without theft of my intellectual property. I am not a programmer.

This was just some meandering musings :)

If you could separate the Wordpress CMS from the Wordpress Blog into separate packages, which could be combined at a later date. It might have made thing a tad easier.

The problem with every php script about every business is that the developers have no idea about that business.

Example.

Cars for sale

Domain names

Real estate

etc..

in business like classified ad business they are not able to contribute anything new.

In a perfect world, my knowledge of SEO and some of my domains could have been the basis of a good online business, like cars for sale.(in my city)... the problem is that absolutely every script or wordpress theme is incomplete in SEO terms and if you think they do it because they want to sell other services I would say that I doubt it,

i buy this theme https://themeforest.net/item/motors...alership-classifieds-wordpress-theme/13987211

then, as expected this incomplete in terms of SEO, then I have contacted them several times, for a few weeks there is no answer. so imagine put money on this people.

Indian developer are crazy with prices... or just create some junk code

Although there are several classified ad business software which are excellent. I've even converted one of them to selling domains :) But time constraints meant the project was never completed. But it looked good. Although it may look a tad quaint, in terms of web design, in today's modern standards. Selling domains is quite similar to selling classified ads. the both need a good category system to at their core.

Doesn't Yoast SEO, or something else, do a reasonable job at SEO?

yes, Yoas is good for seo, but i recommend you use the rich texts too.
