hey, here's overstock ceo and mike maloney chatting. both are nice woke guys. Mostly just general economics but they talk about crypto a little, and some reasons why money as we know it is on the wrong path.

I have one of the best crypto domain portfolios (CryptoMarket.com, CryptoAsset.com, BlockchainInfo.com, etc.) and can confirm the number of inquiries/sales, which had dropped dramatically last year, started to increase once again, but still nowhere near the volume/prices of the last Bitcoin peak ($20,000).

However I'm already in talks for one possible six figures sale which would be the first this year.
I love CryptoMarket.com thats a fantastic domain :xf.smile:

Hello Friends,

Checkout Goko (.) com

It become Crypto Exchange.

I sold for $25K in February. I will share more details later with full story via blog under my portfolio site soon. It was brokered by Ename. I acquired Goko for $2999 in 2017. It was one of my favorite 4L. Happy to see been developed as Crypto Exchange.

I was checking what happened to my recent sales and found Goko become Crypto Exchange.

I sold one of my friend's 4L for nice $XXXXX range which become Crypto Exchange too. But I leave it upto him if he wish to share or not.

Last 3 months activities only.

  • 1 Mid $XXXXX offer (Negotiation going on)
  • Couple Low $XXXXX offers on couple names in my signature
  • Sold Couple names for $XXXXX each which already become Crypto Exchange
Nice 4L + Finance Related names been acquired or inquired by new startup in 2019. I am sharing info related to only this thread. Lots of activities going on outside this niche as well.

Thanks

There's a pretty good brandable crypto name I'm thinking about regging. It's one of those keywords plus a few letters on the end. Would you reg a name like that or would you stick with keyword + other word?

Great names, especially the CryptoMarket.com. Are you the original registrant?

This one I recall having bought on Snapnames. However I have registered hundreds of such names starting in 2011. I also bought Cryptocurrency.com off Sedo for $400, and re-sold it two years later.

I actually think CryptoAsset.com is even a better name and I sort of coined this term - when I hand registered it, I found no other references. If you read the news nowadays, "crypto asset" as a term is rapidly becoming common place, which is only natural as the applications of blockchain technology have expanded beyond simple currencies.

$400? This is unbelievable! How much did you sell it? I'm asking because this is definitely a X,XXX,XXX domain if it where to be mine.

How did you know Crypto stuff would become so big. It was not a popular concept in early 2010s. You must be an insider(?).

I sold that one in a trade for another domain + cash, but the combined value, although OK, was nowhere near the seven figures you could argue it's worth nowadays.

However, you must put things in perspective. Back in 2011/2012 the term "cryptocurrency" wasn't consensus even within the very small community of Bitcoin users. News sites used "cryptocurrency", "digital currency" and "virtual currency" interchangeably, and memory might be failing me but "cryptocurrency" didn't seem to be the front runner as the term that would eventually catch on.

In that same context, I hand registered cryptocurrency.org and let it expire the next year. The reason: it was a .org and I thought the .com was enough, considering the hundreds of other crypto .com's I had as well.

When you hear people talking about "crypto" nowadays, you might immediately make the Bitcoin / Blockchain connection. At that time, "crypto" was a short form for "cryptography", and some critics (with reason) said Bitcoin shouldn't be called a "cryptocurrency" any more than a secure website should be called a "crypto-site", because cryptography is just one (arguably small) part of the many technologies that glue Bitcoin together. Imagine yourself, as a domain investor, reading that from intelligent people and making an investment decision to put considerable amounts of money into "crypto" domains.

It was only in early 2017, after one of Bitcoin's many bubbles, that I sold the first crypto domain for six figures (CryptoBank.com), and have been able to sell a few other at that range since then.
