Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

Anybody know what the auction for cannabisx ended at?
Saw it around $8,xxx an hour before, didn’t catch the closing though.

I regged PotToke.com last year. I’ll probably drop it

thats not such bad one.. .com just makes every domain look so much better than it may be in other extensions..

me I own only one.. toked...io
but I'm not feeling so good about ti.. so I may not renew it.. even though www.toked.com is fully developed pot site.. and toked is taken in like 60 extensions. 25-30$ renewal isn't cheap :)

plus I don't think .io is so great for weed names... though this can all change in future... we're far from full worldwide mainstreaming weed still. just starting.

cheers

$8188....let's see if it holds.
We sold hempx for $2750 last year. I think it’s better than cannabisx just based on length. Let’s see if this auction involves more shenanigans.

There was only one higher bidder than me. The history is updated to remove that persons bids and only shows mine. And another interesting fact - GoDaddy offered it to me at $2069 which they say I bid. That is incorrect since there are no bids in that amount.

What in the world is going on here?! @Joe Styler
@Joe Styler can you explain the history of this auction and why GoDaddy would try to charge me $1010 more than my high bid against a deadbeat bidder?

cannasticks.com $1,059 (95 Bids) $12 Closed on 2019/02

Couple more GD expired auctions (not mine):

CannabisEdible $841
CannaHappy $227

I’m having fits posting screenshots. Here’s the deal...

Cannasticks ended at GoDaddy and the high bidder didn’t pay. GoDaddy offered it to me as second high bid at $2069 but I didn’t bid that amount. Then they say the auction ended at $1059 which was my bid and they sold to another bidder.

They have become a disgraceful and dishonest service in my eyes.

Why do you post your screen shots then remove them? Both times you posted they were just fine, then *poof* they were gone. Hard to get a grasp of what transpired if you keep deleting things. Maybe reach out to Joe in DM with those images and see if he can shed some light on the matter. Keep us informed.

Sorry, from my view they did not post. It was the auction history showing the final bid as $1059 which was my bid. It also shows that there wasn’t a bid of $2069 which they tried to charge me.

I thought CannabisEdible would have gone a lot higher.

Edibles (plural) would have been a gem...edible nowhere near as good...imo

It's all good...they showed both times then vanished as I moved from image to image. Hopefully Joe can get to the bottom of it. Pretty ridiculous that we're seeing an increase in fake or deadbeat bidding. There has to be a way to narrow down who is doing it, and if it's the same person or people.

Note - they removed the non-payers bids to only show mine. They tried to charge me $2069. Do you see a bid in that amount?

You can drag image into reply box, then click FULL IMAGE instead of just reply and it'll show a full image.

Thanks. I copied the history. It shows all my bids and then the last bidder “7” below me.

When these weird high bids get cancelled and the domain quietly sells to a lower bidder, does the recorded price, for example at Namebio, get amended? Or is the set of public recorded sales prices being persistently inflated? Who would that benefit?

Does everyone remember that Godaddy auctions were happy to have Adam Dicker in charge and bidding on names there, even though he had been involved in satellite piracy? https://www.nytimes.com/2002/05/09/technology/in-satellite-piracy-war-battles-on-many-fronts.html

As with Afternic it makes sense to ask if GD staff are set performance targets - because when you set impossible targets, staff have to game the system to deliver the magic results.

Sales on Namebio today - not me, no idea how real these are:

cannabisoptions.com 531 USD
2019-02-16 GoDaddy

kushtimes.com 380 USD 2019-02-16 GoDaddy

greenmeup.com 204 USD 2019-02-16 DropCatch

Never noticed updates or changes after the auction is finalized. For example, HappyHemp closed at $7400, but then buyer never paid so it dropped down to an alternate bidder and finalized at $1801. It still reads 7400 on NB.

NB stats should be taken with a grain of salt when searching comps. It's my understanding they are an aggregate, and as such, reflect primarily expired auction closing prices, not definitive 'paid for' pricing. It's a good tool to gauge reseller market, not end user market, and only in a general sense, as even those results are skewed, imo.
