Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Can someone get with the moderator and ask them to edit the headline here to include Leaf put it after Cannabis. Makes the forum more updated and fresh. Leaf

Kieth? I think that's you? Namepros would be happy I'd think.
It’s not me but we can’t go adding everything in the title.

Leaf
Cbd
THC
Flower...

It’s not feasible

I don't have Cannamiss. I have cannabismiss/com Registered Aug 2017. :)
Yes, I know. I mentioned it because it's a shorter (and I believe, more catchy) version of your own name.

"Ahhh ..What we got here is failure to communicate"
Good Old History has a funny way of repeating itself.
Some for the better or some fo the worse. We’ve seen this happen with fashion, music, and even cultural trends. Now, history is repeating itself via substances and political BS. its all there.
Advertising has to Play into and with Regulation. Designed Hold Ups ! Like i said before .. "CREATE ON" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its a big olll party and everyone wants in.....

I am not sure what the owner of cannamiss plans on doing, but cannamiss could go in so many directions. I only paid 7 bucks for cannabismiss so I am not worried at all.

QUESTION....

When searching for your Cannabis/Weed/Marijuana/Dope/Pot/ name(s).....If .com is taken, which (in your opinion) would be the next best extension???

Biased (dot)ca's (or any ccTLD like (dot)de etc)

IMO, org best fits this niche as an alternative.

Top three for my money:

1. com
2. org
3. net

Thanks for the responses!!

So are those your pics because you are unable to register.CA?

Or is it because you think that.CA has less value than the big three even though it will be where all of the legal cannabis stuff is happening (in the near term at least)

I think in every other aspect of the Internet and domains the “big three” are obviously the best choice! .... I’ve been working on the premise that .CA has a bit more weight because of it being the country code of the country that is completely legalizing marijuana... As mentioned previously, I’m definitely biased towards.ca because that’s where I live... but perhaps I am looking through rose coloured glasses? What I’m hearing is that if the dot Org is available I should take that over the dot CA.... interesting!!!

(.Com is always King.... but I was thinking.ca might nudge out .net and .org...)

So, hypothetically speaking, if the.com is taken... you will not register in .net or .org or .co or .ca if you were able?

yes "hypothetically" this is true of my action. I dont know their markets and how their mechanics work. And heck brosif. I dont even know how a freeken computer works ! #truefact .So i play lots of cards but just .coms for now.
IMO, If its that good , its usually taken with other top ext.

IMO, com/net/org are universal, unrestricted, so anyone can register, own, sell, etc. However, some cctld's require residence, or some sort of affiliation, creating limitations, which could have a negative impact on selling. There are those who register these cctld's regardless of the restrictions, but to their own detriment, IMO.

A business wanting a presence in a specific region or country, may choose the respective cctld, but one wanting a global presence would likely choose com first, or at least, in addition to, IMO.

For mj related names alone, as a secondary to the com, I like org, as it fits better with the medical vertical found in this niche. For other niches, such as tech, I'd go more for a net if com wasn't available, as I feel it would fit better. Of course, this is all subjective, and we all have our own opinions, so others may feel differently.

I didn’t think anybody typed (.com) after a word anymore ... if you don’t type it, the browser automatically directs to it anyways

Not here... goes to Google if that's the default search (which is the case with iOS and Chrome.)

@Keith there is now a new thread -

Official Leaf Showcase and Discussion Thread

Cheers
Corey

Corey and Kieth

I think we should all stick together. And naturally disagree with you not changing the discussion title to include Leaf.Reduce Cannabis too Canna( saves 3 spaces ), add in Leaf and it's A letter ( one ).

The irony of all of this is we're supposed to be branding people and ontop of trends. And refresh our thinking.

I'm sure you would expect the above response from me.

Danny
