First domain was $0.50 (was a .net but .com costs same) then after that it shows in my account $6 to transfer .com's over. You, guys wanna check this out and see how legit it is (I only regged. haven't transferred any in just see the price)? Has anyone heard of this company before?

Note: I don't know their transfer-out policy to get auth. code may require to contact them, after the 60 day windows of new regs.

Hi,

Long time reader, first time poster. I signed up for the sole purpose of warning away from this company as I fell for their tactics a few years ago.

The big thing to note is that there is a $50USD transfer out fee on all domains. I got burned by one of their super transfer offers a few years ago and when I wanted to move out that's when I discovered that I was screwed. They do mention transfer out fees a few times on their site and contract but no indication of how much. I assumed it would have been a small fee.

I blame nobody but myself for having gone with them, but at least I can warn people away.

They have a number of businesses, all ending in "-web", such as domains-web.com

Edit: fix grammar/spelling

@casualdomainer Thanks, for informing me I will let the domain expire there and not transfer any over $50 transfer-out fee should be illegal but I guess they can probably charge whatever they want.

Thanks for the heads up @casualdomainer. I've looked through their FAQs and don't see the transfer out fee being mentioned.

The only "hint" is this bit in their FAQ:

Please don't transfer your domain name to our service if you plan to transfer away again next year. We don't want this type business because it significantly increases our costs.

There is also no mention of the transfer out fee anywhere in their checkout process and the lack of SSL on their site is also somewhat concerning.

Glad to help!

Here are a few other people that have been burned in the past (one from 2006, so this deception has been going on for a while!):

Here's the agreement from when I had domains there. Note that the domain "renewal-service.com" is no longer working.

Wonder if the ever changing domains is to fool people into believing that they are different companies?

@casualdomainer Any idea what the current .net domain I have their will cost when renewal comes around?

I can't remember what the renewal cost is, it's not mentioned in any emails that I have from the company. $14 rings a bell, but I'm trying to remember from 2 years ago. I seem to remember though the page that you linked in your original post saying $6 per year. What I do remember is thinking that I no longer wanted to deal with this company and the $50 transfer out just being the cost of business at that point.

Is it just me or did they redo their site in the past day or two and their pricing is no longer available? Looks like all their domain registration sites now have a meta-refresh to domains-manager.com

Yes, it shows they did in fact modify it and I think prices are gone now looks so shady from what I've heard from you and the site being changed at bottom of site it says, "
Copyright Domains Manager, 1998-2018. Last modified: Wednesday, January 17, 2018"

I guess now you have to type the domain in to get the price.

I was a victim of their .50 offer 7 years ago at registryweb.com. I didn't find out about the $50 extortion fee per domain until I requested the auth codes to transfer them. I count my lucky stars that I had only cautiously transferred 5 domains to them that were not real valuable to test out their registrar. I searched even after that for any mention of a $50 fee and could not find it anywhere on their site. This scam company could literally ruin a domain investor if they transferred their portfolio to one of these evil sites. The low lifes even charge a fee for pushes and have high renewal fees, so you would have no way out after falling for their scam offer!

I looked into these guys when you first posted this. They just updated their footer, no phone support. For a couple bucks, I couldn't imagine switching to this shady setup rather than namesilo.
Addresse on google maps looks shifty. They give adresse of a building, what floor, bunch of business with that adresse.

I wouldnt touch these guys with a 10 foot pole. All this thread is doing is maybe sucking in a few newbies, causing more problems. Sharing personal info with unknown entities

  • These prices are valid for new registrations, transfers and renewals from January 17, 2018
You can score a .com for 50 pennies now too it seems, but I no chance to recommend it. Asking for trouble to save a dollar or two. These folks are far from wonderful

Glad I started this thread you notice I was also asking if people had ever heard of them when I posted this. Now, that I heard about high fees, I'm worried they will try to auto-renew the 1 domain I got there next year for like $50 or something. Not, moving any there after hearing all these opinions.
