Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

NameSilo
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

UPS drops touchscreens in favor of virtual reality headsets

UPS(NYSE:UPS) announced Tuesday that it will start training student delivery drivers to spot and identify road hazards using VR headsets that "vividly simulate the experience of driving on city streets while teaching a more memorable classroom lesson."

Hence:

Whoever he is, he sure wants to be anonymous. He's got the largest collection of the most impressive VR domains that I've seen....

Yeah, some nice ones there.

What are the people thinking about the state of VR and the future of our domain names? Personally I haven't been that active here on the forum lately, partly because I've been a bit disillusioned about VR.

It's just going slower than I expected and the offers seem to be getting fewer and further between.

At the moment VR is just too expensive and the quality is too low. I have a Vive but only use it about once per week if I find some promising game. I have one of the best WebVR portfolios on the planet but I still haven't even tried WebVR because I can't get it to work :D

If a fan boy like me can't even be bothered I think it will be a long time before the masses jump on the VR train.

What do you guys think? I would love to be proven wrong.

@Onekey as you can see in this projection by Gartner, VR adoption is on the rise, coming out of the "trough of disillusionment" and moving towards the "Plateau of Productivity"... IMHO, VR won't really begin to gain traction in earnest until around 2020. (e.g. Once the price, weight, tetherless (standalone), social networking, peripherals and other issues are resolved.) In the short term, I think Spielberg's "Ready Player One" movie next year will serve as a real catalyst to vault VR into the public's consciousness... To sum up, hang on, the best is yet to come! :)

PS - I think VR adoption will take place a heckuva lot faster than cell phone adoption... Remember, the first portable Motorola cell phone hit the market in 1983, but it took the iPhone (and app store) in 2007 to really launch the platform and make the tech indispensable... Point being, it's still very early days yet!

Received an inquiry a few days ago from a company involved in 360 VR real estate software, but other than that, it's been pretty quiet.

I don’t use VR myself, because it’s just not good enough yet and all a bit too gimmicky at the moment, i just get bored very easily with it, but i still believe in its potential, I just try and imagine what it’s all going to be like when your inside VR and everything is all crystal clear and as good as we can see now in the real world – That’s probably like 10 years off though.

But I’ve said on here before, even if VR goes on to be a success are VR domains a necessity? We’ve all took a shot in the dark at the end of the day, with more chance of failure than success, but that’s how domain investing in general works i guess, few win, majority lose.

Has potential to go for anything that domain.

I think @En is the owner as i tried to buy LiveVR and VRPoker over a year ago and told me he had a plans for them.

Account auto-closed....

Mr. Big Deal is too busy racking up the category killers to bother showcasing with us small timers LOL....

Vr will triumph, I do not say, I say the biggest technology companies in the world that are investing billions in it.

It is normal that not many domains are sold now, there are not enough companies or the volume of money needed on the move, to start sales forcefully.

When will that moment occur ?, perhaps two or three years, but while it arrives will gradually increase sales.
Killer applications, ease of use and price will be determining factors for it to become mainstream.

I understand the nervousness of those of us who need to have sales for renovations, but I do not understand for those who do not have that problem.

Waiting is inherent to domaining, getting ahead in time means that then you have to wait for the technology to arrive, the more you get ahead the more chances you have of getting good names and the more you have to wait.

Another thing is that names that we believe good time do not confirm them as such, but if they are, early sales will not be precisely the best.

A good name vr in three or four years can multiply its current value many times, if it is not essential for renovations, rush will not make you do good business.

Keeping calm, seeking funding and reducing portfolio can now be the route to follow for many of us.
Let's be modest and check our regions, sure there will be many who will not have enough quality or the right price for them now become a drag, and if we escape some good, bad luck, but we will continue in the game.

Patience and luck for all.

time is expensive
time is hopeless
don't burn one's boats yet
good VR names will have great ROI if you are able to withstand the storm,
the year 2020 will be our year, I do not doubt it.

My friend, some domains such as good wines should age.

Names such as standalonevr, vrsmartphones, minivr, web-vr, etc, etc, etc., over the years will gain a lot, but should rest in my cellar.

Enjoy your vacations, I have the intuition that the end of this year and the beginning of the next will be very moved, rest well and recover for the work of domaining.

The success of Many VR domains depends on the success of WebVR. As VR games, shopping, sports...etc start streaming from the web instead of apps, VR domains will see higher use & demand will rise too.

It's true that WebVR is key to the success of VR domaining and WebVR is taking off in the developer world. Just search it on Twitter and see for yourself.

Business that will need an online presence will benefit from VR domains. But what's not talked a lot about on this site in general is how end users will not even know that they need a domain until you tell them. VR domain investors think that they are buying money when they register a domain but it takes salesmanship to sell, not simply placing a domain on a market place and waiting for someone to buy.

It's rarely that easy even if you have great domains.

Speak for your self bud :-D.

Of course "VR" is more valuable, but WebVR is the name of the ecosystem and technology online. We've had this discussion before. Google launched WebVRExperiments.com. There are tools like WebVRStudio.com. It's a keyword and an increasingly valuable one. I got two price requests on two WebVR domains (likely from an end user) and I'll keep you guys posted on if they become the first WebVR domain sales...
