The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
They were saying they select randomly.
But how come they featured some 5 or 6 domains of a same person in the featured section?

I do think its random. I've had many of my names featured. Below is a screen shot I just took and 4 out of 10 names below are mine. I can promise you I don't have any more affiliation with BB then you do. The more names you list the more chances of your name being featured - I think :)

Actually, it's not that random. I think it's names that get an A+ brandability rating by the branding team (rating given on the landing page. Might be some A rated ones as well, not sure). At least, that's what it's been for me. What were the ratings for the names that you have featured?

If I recall correctly they used to be called "Staff Picks" a while back... So I would imagine that the staff picks which ones are featured - or at the least there is an algorithm in play.

I have had some names featured and some names not. Generally I can agree that my names that are featured are better than the ones that weren't.

I personally have no knowledge of rather anyone gets free listings at BB or not, but in all honesty - if you ran a brandable marketplace would you charge yourself to list on it? I mean honestly, pretty much everyone will answer that (even if under their breath) with an "of course not".

Would this bring into question ethics? Possibly, but the root of the ethic question would be if you would allow employees to list names on the marketplace. But in the particular case you are referring he was hired because he was such a good seller. So I couldn't imgaine it would be reasonable to ask him to step away from listing on the platform.

The only way you would be able to have a 100% unbiased brandable marketplace is if it is ran by a team who do not own any of the inventory... But that would be a very odd thing as the only people interested in building a brandable marketplace would be domainers. (or marketers - but that is a blurry line where the marketers are of course into domaining as well)

Basically it comes down to BB opened up the flood gates on new sellers and domains, which in turn is going to open the flood gates on people who feel mistreated for one reason or another. IMO BB has no real good way to respond to the recent criticisms as it will continue to come at them no matter what they say.

The best thing BB can do is continue to sell names, and to work hard at keeping their sale through rate up as the inventory rises. This will keep the majority of sellers happy. Past that I do not believe they have any responsibility to appease every seller that has a domain with them. That is an impossible task when you consider that everyone here on NP has their own personal interest in mind, a keyboard, and time to spend blasting everything they consider unfair.

On the other side of the coin you have blind BB supporters who drank too much koolaide, foaming at the mouth like a rabbid retarded pit bull - quick to personally attack anyone who has anything to say, even when it is constructive critism. This, I believe, just further fans the flames of any discontent and damages chances of a productive conversation.

None-the-less everybody just needs to calm down... Decide if a partnership with BB is in their best interest, and make business decisions based off of reality and math - and not from emotion or conspiracy theories.

Just my $0.02 ...

Oqora has a brandability rating of B+ but it's owned by Keith Deboer so I guess that's why it's featured. Those insiders get all the perks! :)

Yup, that's why I added "might be some A-rated ones as well. "Fund' is a big keyword for them anyways.

@hookbox, looks like it.

One of my names steadysurge is on the front page of the featured listings and I only have 30 total with BB so it is nothing to do with perks and privileges.

Go to the landing page. For example, my domain fund/vu dot com was once featured. Type it in, If you look on the ".....score card", you'll see the brandability rating.

....and why in the world is a shit ass domain like Zaplr being featured? Even if it was completely spelled out Zapler it still wouldn't be that great. Dropping the E in a name that isn't a real word is garbage. If any one else would have submitted that domain it would have been stamped with a big fat REJECT! Seriously that name sucks but guess what, it's owned by Krell so it get's a featured spot in the front row! Damn those insiders! :)

For me, it's been the names that have an A+ brandability, with some that have an A brandability (may depend on the keyword)

Just trying to make sense of the 'featured' listings..... so this is still a hypothesis. I'm into science, so this is the way I think. lol.

These are featured listings since 3 or 4 days. I requested them to make my domain Beamza.com as featured. They didnt. I give up.

You cannot ask as the staff chooses the names they believe are super good. I once had a portfolio of 7 domains and published another five of which four of them were featured in the same time. This past week I had one featured too and it remained there for many days until it slipt through.

So I am no super.seller or someone who has big portfolio but they featured many of my names.

I noticed that the names they featured from my list are in good positions when I used certain main keywords for searching.

Would love to know the inside details of how these are scored:

Memorability
Virality
Uniqueness
Simplicity
Brandability

Edit: I know Memorability is how the name is spoken, does it connect \ resonate and bring strong thoughts etc.

But how do you measure Virality, any ideas?

Isn't everything considered unique on BB anyway?

Simplicity - I kinda get it, (short and sweet)?

Brandability - Seems to rely on the others, since to be brandable you need to be unique and memorable.

Any ideas?

If they choose super good, most of the sales would be from featured section..How come other domains are selling.

My point is some domains would sell only if they are featured..otherwise they never sell.

Aren't you a super seller?

@iwon24, ideally, all your names are eventually supposed to be in the newsletter. I read on their website that each name is supposed to make the newsletter at least once. Sometimes, they are behind it seems.

I am not sure this is the case. One of my sales was never featured and was even hard to find unless you searching using the first three letters

Really? How come? I thought the newsletter shows all names added in a certain week of the month. I am yet to see a newsletter that doesnt have a name I published in that week.

I am not. I started at the end of May this year to actually add many names to my account , before that, I had a maiden name listed there for a year.
