Situation with Alphabet Inc shows why domaining is sometimes very profitable business, in case of owning Alphabet.com (owned by BMW Group) by someone else he could easily to sell it at least for $1mln to them, as they are still don't know where to launch their new website.

Well of course they purchased that long ass domain name just because of their parent company's name alphabet, makes sense!

also to have a date registration of 1999 is pretty impressive, ah he mentioned that in original posting. sorry

What I don't get is how they plan on stopping all the new domain name extensions being registered and then flipping the script and monetizing their parent company's name and of course leveraging the search engines. I have a feeling that these giants that have been helping everyone will eventually fade out and it will be about your network off of these regular networks, however, it may be some time...Everyone in the world still wants to see flying cars and cities in the air. lol

Proven time and time again that.DOT COM is the KING. I bet this would end the extra hype and confusion of few fellow members here who were thinking that .XYZ will be the next big thing, but hey, Google still preferred to get this domain with .COM.

They still prefered it and they did not even talk of the lenght. Wow .com remains forever strong. Only God knows how much they bought it. Hah!! Long live .com the king.

The question where the one of biggest world corporations at the moment will launch their new website? I don't thing on .xyz as it's just not serious, they used this exentions only for their press-realease publishing.

They just need one name alphabet.com, rest they can ignore IMO

Sure, .com is always gold standard. But if you follow close on GTLD's, they are making some progress. Google recently opened a new business for domains because they foresee business happening in GTLD's and also AmazonRegistry coming soon for the same reason. Good combination GTLD's are going to do well.

The domainer who also bought the longest domain ever, also have a vission for such domain since 1999 and did not drop it until now when BIG G bought it. Ha! It is a big value for the domainer to sell a domain of such lenght to the most valuable internet site owner.

Look like google want to stay in news for its new structure changes it has nothing to do with domain industry.
Look how amazon jump into registry business and their site not working who in the world keep that kind of CEO for IT department, they have so much better technology it is easy for them to create registry then why error?
It seem to me this all new gtlds game is just a big hipe nothing else, only few has vision to do something for actual world like .tickets

They are attempting to lay the groundwork to establish copyright and TM issues against every letter in alphabet used in domains so they can eventually take control of every word written online! Dah

If you dont know who created goog and what it actually started as read about it!!

That is not possible for them to get copyright and get TM also not possible, yes for whatever they registered that single stream they can get but that does not mean they get on all alphabet . Do not worry they not able to tell you change your name as they have copyright on them.

Maybe, but this is a multi-billion company guys. For them a few thousand bucks is nothing. At least they are getting attention for their new holding company from threads such as this.

They have unlimited $$$$$$$$$$! They can do whatever they want anytime anywhere anyhow

They have ultra longterm goals that will reign on when u and I r long gone.
