The Government of Montenegro recognized the potential worldwide appeal that .ME could have and decided it should be operated as a generic name space to gain the maximum benefit for Montenegro. The Government issued a public RFP in November 2007. The goal of the RFP was to find a Registration Agent that could operate an international registry, provide world class backend registry services, and provide the marketing and promotional muscle needed to make .ME a worldwide success. Ultimately, we believe they made an excellent choice!

The contract was awarded to doMEn, d.o.o., a Montenegro based joint venture (doing business as .ME Registry) whose partners are Afilias Limited, GoDaddy.com, Inc., and ME-net d.o.o.

Landrush will start June 6 till June 26, domain names with more than 2 applications will go into Auction.

Go Live on July 17.

SO, what do you all think about the coming .me?

As Toni said above, the value of a domain in the secondary market is determined by its demand. Since you are the only known person interested in this name, the value is what you are willing to pay for it.

I've had junk[.]me in my portfolio for some time. I think it sounds very cool and has several direct and indirect applications. I'm curious what y'all think of it and its potential uses.

Ever see one of those hoarder shows on TV? They have companies that come and get the junk, like 1800gotjunk.com. Or recycling places, stuff like that. Whatever different types of sites come up when you search on junk on Google.

That was one of the end user applications I had in mind along with a junk your car site. Might also make a good adult novelty site now that I think about it.

So far I have stuck to top-level domains, but there is a geo .me I am very tempted to buy. For development, I'm not really a domainer. Being TOTALLY new to .me, I have a question for you guys who are experienced with this extension:

Is there anything I should know about .me (restrictions etc) and can anyone point out any developed geo .me domains? Thanks.

Can you all provide an opinion about something? My friend owns firewall.me. We think it's better than scan.me, which sold for $20,000. Security is like the number 1 issue on the internet - business, governments, individuals. I could see an IBM or other company wanting this.

I'm still cash strapped and trying to get other.me. The owner doesn't respond. He wants $5,000 buy it now on SEDO. I am curious to know how many of you think firewall.me is the clear winner, and in his own interests, he should trade?

scan.me is a lot better IMO because I can use it in a sentence by replacing the dot with a space and it makes perfect sense, for me that's the only type of domains I would be interested in the dot me namespace (great 2 word hacks with "me" being the second word). There are some exceptions (certain geo's, names and 1 word hacks) but firewall.me is not really one of them, however I can see this one sell for low $x.xxx as well..

Sorry, but I think firewall.me does not match the same premium status nor value. Scan.me has both internet and ID protection applications, as well as hardware uses. Firewall is limited to really a singular use and it isn't a verb. If the name was verb like protect.me, save.me, or help.me it would be far different story and would command that $20K price tag.

Also, other.me isn't worth $5K imho. Especially for a personal blog. Pick something else. I have two that are expiring that may be good substitutes. PM me if interested.

Only time will tell... I am currently buying and selling many .ME domains! I just like them.

I doubt I'll have any .ME in my portfolio drop TBH.

I actually own sextoys.me which I probably will develop next year but with the g-spot domain, adult toys. g spot toys, g spot vibrators etc. That kind of stuff converts great online since it's the type of item a lot of people are embarassed to buy in person.

I have a nice lil collection going, bahamas, myrtlebeach, a country here and there, 5 state capitals, capitals of countries, more than a few beaches, some more tourist destinations etc.

Side note, got my vitamins.me domain in my account today, the one I won at the Sedo auction. That will be a site next year, most likely.
