The Government of Montenegro recognized the potential worldwide appeal that .ME could have and decided it should be operated as a generic name space to gain the maximum benefit for Montenegro. The Government issued a public RFP in November 2007. The goal of the RFP was to find a Registration Agent that could operate an international registry, provide world class backend registry services, and provide the marketing and promotional muscle needed to make .ME a worldwide success. Ultimately, we believe they made an excellent choice!

The contract was awarded to doMEn, d.o.o., a Montenegro based joint venture (doing business as .ME Registry) whose partners are Afilias Limited, GoDaddy.com, Inc., and ME-net d.o.o.

Landrush will start June 6 till June 26, domain names with more than 2 applications will go into Auction.

Go Live on July 17.

SO, what do you all think about the coming .me?

Quite interested to see the final sales list of the sedo . Me auctions.
Everything I was interested in went above my budget.
Quite surprised no one really picked up on culture.me which is currently at only 300

If people have missed out on the domains they were looking for, I've got
recruitment.me
position.me
baccarat.me
Jakarta.me
background.me
and jpeg.me for sale

This auction of .me at Sedo is a huge mistake. There are like 150+ .me at once and is very hard to keep in track your bids. The seller should post maximum of 30 domains at once.

Well, I got one of them. One I'll familiar with and will probably make a site with next year, after the holidays.

Oh, I see flowers is still going at it. Just went up to $8,100

Is there a place to see all the sales results?

One of the domain blogs should have it today but these are the ones I know for sure:

vip.me - 11,600 (last I saw)
realestate.me - 8050
football.me - 3966
deals.me - 3900
vodka.me - 3900
baseball.me - 2800
chicago.me - 2601
dentist.me - 2500
basketball.me - 1899
scores.me - 1675
vitamins.me - 1400

plus the ones posted above.

the auction was a huge flop!

How do you figure that? Looks like people got some great deals. Plus auctions are kind of like an NFL draft. People like to judge them on auction/draft day when that's really silly when you think about it. You judge those kind of things a few years down the line, to see how things turned out. If the people buying them today, sell them for much more later down the line, that's called success.

the auction was a huge flop!

I guess if you mean for the .me registry. Looks like they'll do about half of what they did last year. Had more $10,000+ sales last year. But I think great for those who got names today. It's more of a buyer's market right now.

Flop? Those are not end-users prices. The buyers have a great deals. I wish i have extra cash to buy some more .me domains.

the auction was a huge flop!

tata668, thank you for the list!

And it's done, flowers.me just went for $9,000.

My list doesn't show the domains with a reserve not met, though. Every domain below 499$ was not won I'm pretty sure ("exams.me" for example).

Yeah, it would have been fun to see a no reserve auction. It might have even pushed some of them over the $499 they wanted for some of them.

Looking over the premiums on their site (domain.me), they still have a bunch of good ones, books, wine, coffee etc. I guess we'll see some of them next year. Like the ones today at Sedo were available thru their development program.

I think you would have to call the auction a success based on where a lot of the names ended. Especially considering that while there were great keywords, most of them don't fit the "call to action" branding that has lended popularity to the extension.

To begin with, some of these names had to be auctioned off when .me was launched. So I wonder if the owners all made healthy margins on their sales.

Nah, they're premium development domains. Some of the domains in today's auction are still listed on their site with links to the development program. Plus you can always check the whois history. Plus this was a .me registry auction.

Go to this page - http://www.domain.me/about-premium-names

pick the job category, you'll still see job.me listed with a link to the Development program - http://www.domain.me/development-program

Check the other categories, you'll see the other names.

Just checked the home category, you'll see apartments, property, realty, all in today's Sedo auction.

Basically people aren't really doing the Development Program stuff, so they're picking a group of domains each year to be auctioned off at Sedo.

@JB Lions of course i mean for the registry... plus it dragged the general value of .me down... you'll see, in the upcoming months the .me sales will stay low... that's what bothers me. other than that, the buyer made good deals out of it..

"you'll see, in the upcoming months the .me sales will stay low... that's what bothers me."

Don't be bothered by it tho. I'm thinking more long term with this. If sales stay low, good for me, since I'm buying. Have been getting some good deals this year in a down economy. Last year's auction somebody got business for $4,000+ sold it for $50,000+. There will be more of those type of sales in the future for great keywords. There is a .co premium auction next month at Sedo, I expect pretty much the same (not a fan of the extension myself), have to wait and see what kind of domains go up. The Traffic auction, the auction part itself, got pretty much bad reviews with .com not selling as expected and some others. Down economy, buyer's market for those who have money to spend. I don't want to sell right now, I'm patient. Unless of course, a great offer comes my way. It's like the example I gave earlier. Time will tell, it might take a few years.

Does anyone have an opinion about the value of other.me? I have been trying to buy it for over a year now. The owner wants $5,000 and I think it's a crazy price. I don't see how it can be monetized or how any comp justifies his price. My interest is in building a personal blog. What might I do?

chose another.me :P

regarding value: only as much as you as an enduser are willing to pay for ;)
