Not sure about staying addicted to oil, however hopefully, the price of EV goes down but even then it uses electricity to charge it so that's some fuel.

I was talking with some guys about their Teslas last week. They said they charge it off their home solar grid! One fella did say he spent $30G on the equipment, but it's doable. Most folks don't have that kind of iniative. Now he has super low fuel cost (1-2 cents/mile he figures). My grid is small in comparison, but I have no problem charging my e-bike and that goes places a Tesla cannot.
