Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

The ancient Neanderthal hand in severe COVID-19

Genetic variants that leave their carrier more susceptible to severe COVID-19 are inherited from Neanderthals, a new study finds.

There are several factors that influence a person's susceptibility to having a severe reaction, such as their age and the existence of other medical conditions. But one's genetics also plays a role, and, over the last few months, research by the COVID-19 Host Genetics Initiative has shown that genetic variants in one region on chromosome 3 impose a larger risk that their carriers will develop a severe form of the disease.

The virus has affected a lot of black people in the U.S., and this people don't have any trace of Neanderthal DNA... so don't know how accurate is this conclusion (the rest of the World have Neanderthal DNA around 1%-3%. Only African people or descendants don't have any Neanderthal DNA).

A study based on smell test was conducted by researchers from National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute Mohali and the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Chandigarh. It found that COVID-19 patients were unable to smell two aromas — coconut oil and peppermint. They believe that smell test can be used to identify asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.

Ok, in my post I should have said that black people have zero or close to zero percentage in Neanderthal DNA, as per recent studies.

But still, I think is more accurate saying it has zero or close to zero, than saying "Africans carry surprising amount of Neanderthal DNA".

Some years ago it was thought it was 0% and now they have found it is a 0.3%.

I find more accurate the wording of this article, from medlineplus.gov:

"The percentage of Neanderthal DNA in modern humans is zero or close to zero in people from African populations, and is about 1 to 2 percent in people of European or Asian background."

But all this was because of the previous post, where a study said that having Neanderthal DNA increased the severity of covid-19. And I said that black people die at high rates in the U.S. and they have zero or close to zero Neanderthal DNA.

If you go to the listed source article (which is not the actual original China source article) it says "He was wearing a mask while lapping the running track, then he suddenly fell backwards and hit his head on the ground.... It was sunny and their PE class was in the afternoon when it was at least 20 degrees Celsius... It couldn’t have been comfortable wearing a mask while running.”
You get the idea. Unfortunate blackout from lack of oxygen on a hot day and he's hit his head.

It's one thing to wear a mask for a few minutes.....


It's an eniterely other thing to force children to wear masks while exercising or for several hours in a classroom all day.~ this is child abuse.

We are Homo Sapiens, and Homo Sapiens come from Africa. So we all come from Africa.
What happened, is that around 55,000 years ago, African populations went to the north, and at the same time Neanderthals, who were living in Europe, went to the south... and they meet in the Middle East.
And you know what happened... Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals didn't fight... they mated.
Then Neanderthals disappeared around 40,000 years ago, but not Homo Sapiens...

So, Europeans and Asians are Homo Sapiens with 1% to 3% of Neanderthal DNA. While African populations that did not mix with Neanderthals are Homo Sapiens but with zero or close to zero Neanderthal DNA.
