Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

Flurry of coronavirus reinfections leaves scientists puzzled

On 15 August, a 33-year-old man landed in Hong Kong after flying home from Spain. On arrival, he was screened for coronavirus. Despite feeling well he tested positive. It was the second time he had picked up Covid-19 in less than five months.

The case immediately caught scientists’ attention. The man was the first in the world to have a confirmed coronavirus reinfection and there were positives to take from the report. First and foremost, he was asymptomatic. Although reinfected with Sars-Cov-2, his immune system swung into action fast and contained the virus without him knowing.

My guess is that will be a small percentage of people that could be reinfected, but I would say around 5% maybe 10%, but not more.
The most of the people infected by covid-19 should be protected for around a year at least.

The following sentence from the article talks about this percentage:

"Danny Altmann, professor of immunology at Imperial college in London, guesses that those who recover from Covid-19 will have perhaps 90% protection for a “fair while”. But how long is that? “I would bet my house on you being safe for possibly a year but not much longer,”

On loss of taste as a sign of having covid:

I was talking to a girl yesterday about someone she knew who didn't lose their sense of taste so much as the food they got from McDonald's and later that day, Burger King, tasted bad to them. Someone suggested they should go get tested, and it came back positive. So if you or someone else complains about some food tasting off....

Let them try this test.

Researchers devise new Covid ‘smell test’ powered by Indian kitchen staples
A study based on smell test was conducted by researchers from National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute Mohali and the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Chandigarh. It found that COVID-19 patients were unable to smell two aromas — coconut oil and peppermint. They believe that smell test can be used to identify asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.

UK scientists begin study of how long Covid can survive in the air

Instead, the Bristol researchers have developed apparatus that allows them to generate any number of tiny, virus-containing particles – invisible to the naked eye – and gently levitate them between two electric rings for anything from seconds, to hours, to days. The temperature, humidity and UV light intensity of the surrounding air is tightly controlled and can be manipulated to replicate various real-world scenarios.

Wisconsin Opening Field Hospital As Covid-19 Cases Surge

Wisconsin will open an alternative care facility at its state fairgrounds next week to accommodate Covid-19 patients, Gov. Tony Evers announced Wednesday, as the “dire” surge of coronavirus cases in the state has strained hospitals and caused some to near capacity.

At least 8,000 mink dead in Utah after contracting Covid-19

Utah ranchers have lost at least 8,000 mink to an outbreak of Covid-19 among the animals known for their silky, luxurious pelts.

The virus first appeared in the creatures in August, shortly after farmworkers fell ill in July, according to Dr. Dean Taylor, state veterinarian of Utah. Initial research shows the virus was transmitted from humans to animals, and so far has not seen any cases of the opposite.

10% of the World Has Been Infected With COVID-19, WHO Estimates

The head of emergencies at the World Health Organization said Monday the agency’s “best estimates” indicate roughly 1 in 10 people worldwide may have been infected by the coronavirus — more than 20 times the number of confirmed cases — and warned of a difficult period ahead.

Dr. Michael Ryan, speaking to a special session of the WHO’s 34-member executive board focusing on COVID-19, said the figures vary from urban to rural areas, and between different groups, but that ultimately it means “the vast majority of the world remains at risk.” He said the pandemic would continue to evolve, but that tools exist to suppress transmission and save lives.

State officials investigating after cat with COVID-19 dies in Alabama
That lab determined that the SARS-CoV-2 virus which causes COVID-19 was not the primary cause of death. However additional samples were collected and forwarded to the National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) for confirmation. The NVSL confirmed the cat as positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, according to a news release.

COVID-19 Is Now the Third Leading Cause of Death in the U.S.

It kills more people than the flu, contrary to Trump’s claims, and also surpasses stroke, Alzheimer’s and diabetes.

COVID-19 became the third biggest cause of deaths in the week of March 30 to April 4, trailing heart disease and cancer. It killed more people than stroke, chronic lower respiratory disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, kidney disease or influenza.

Regeneron's REGN-COV2 Antibody Cocktail Reduced Viral Levels and Improved Symptoms in Non-Hospitalized COVID-19 Patients

https://investor.regeneron.com/news...v2-antibody-cocktail-reduced-viral-levels-and

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: REGN) today announced the first data from a descriptive analysis of a seamless Phase 1/2/3 trial of its investigational antibody cocktail REGN-COV2 showing it reduced viral load and the time to alleviate symptoms in non-hospitalized patients with COVID-19.

"After months of incredibly hard work by our talented team, we are extremely gratified to see that Regeneron's antibody cocktail REGN-COV2 rapidly reduced viral load and associated symptoms in infected COVID-19 patients"

"The greatest treatment benefit was in patients who had not mounted their own effective immune response, suggesting that REGN-COV2 could provide a therapeutic substitute for the naturally-occurring immune response. These patients were less likely to clear the virus on their own, and were at greater risk for prolonged symptoms."

I was wondering about that, whether or not animals had some innate immunity and how the virus could be transmitted between species. Now it appears that many wild and domestic animals do, though less likely succumb and to become spreaders, but some have suffered from collateral damage due to action of disinfecting:

NYC Fines of Up to $15,000 a Day for COVID Rule Breakers Take Effect Friday

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/loc...vid-rule-breakers-take-effect-friday/2660359/

(I wonder if they will take checks?)
"Penalties of up to $15,000 a day apply for violations on mass gathering rules.
Fines of up to $1,000 a day accompany social distancing and mask-wearing infractions."

When you want people to follow the rules, you need to impose some fines so that everyone understands the seriousness of the situation.
This is a public health pandemic, and since breaking the rules can affect not just one person, but everyone around them, you need to impose some hefty fines according to the severity of the situation.
Well done for NYC and for wanting to take care of its citizens.

Wow @Sutruk :xf.cry::facepalm:

Perhaps you may consider moving to NYC to enforce these draconian measures that you so strongly believe to be helpful!? You will find yourself among a rapidly shrinking populous as many people on the East coast are awake to the plandemic scam and are fleeing the city for greener pastures where freedom and common sense exist.

Like FLORIDA - WHERE THE PLANDEMIC MANDATES ARE LIFTED AND LIFE IS BACK TO NORMAL BECAUSE THEIR GOVERNOR IS ONE OF THE FEW WHO IS NOT A JESUIT PUPPET FOLLOWING A SCRIPT. (THE SOUTH DAKOTA GOVERNOR IS A CONSCIOUS DECISION MAKER TOO)

1,000 Americans move to Florida EVERY DAY as families abandon northern cities in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut - with home sales more than doubling in the Sunshine State

Being Dutch, the way the number of infections are skyrocketing over here is alarming. We're one of the worst performing countries at the moment.

People are stubborn, shortsighted and egocentric where it concerns this pandemic. They haven't announced one yet but I expect another press conference from the government announcing more restrictions any day now. We're getting close to another lockdown.

Infections mean nothing. For multiple reasons.

We are all suppose to detox around this time of year in the Northern hemisphere and if you eat McDonalds, processed meat, lunchables, Doritos, etc (Garbage disguised as food) ...You'll have a nastier detox response in the Fall/Winter.

NYC Jewish community feels targeted by COVID-19 restrictions

@Sutruk

Hey look there are some Orthodox Jews burning masks and dancing in the streets!!!!

Ready to move to NYC to enforce the draconian measures you believe are so awesome?

Go get those germ spreading dancing Jews before they contaminate the city with their schmutz! Teach them the truth about medicine!

Agreed. The issue is the health care system cannot longer cope. Medical procedures are postponed/cancelled. Simply not enough hospital beds to treat everyone if we continue to keep spreading covid at this pace.

About a week ago a golf course I play at regularly installed a device that scans incoming people for body/face temperature and also will determine if they are wearing a mask or not. If you have a high temp or not wearing a mask the inner door to the clubhouse will not open.

This is the same course that most members have been making fun of covid, masks, distancing, etc. Tuesday morning the grounds crew started coming in extra early and had to go through the new system to clock in...starting today there is an invitational tournament and it is the biggest event of the year with players from around the country attending...3 of the 14 crew members were denied entry due to elevated temps...I just learned that 2 have covid and the 3rd has not been responding to phone calls. Also learned that two teams are not attending because one or more of each team is positive (thats why they called me...asking if I would fill in).

I think this will be a rough winter for many.
