I didn't ignore the debt. I said TARP was a net gain for the treasury.

Somehow that was good under Obama. There are more restrictions in this version than the 2008 version.

Yet in everyone of your replies you ignore the Debt argument and keep crying about the slush fund.

Typical.

:xf.laugh: Bullsh!t.

The Fed's involvement with QE, buying Repos now buying cooperate bonds.
The Tax Cut for the Filthy Rich.
This stimulus bill which will be somewhere around $3t or more and most of it if not all of will NOT be paid back.

Come Jan 2021 the National Debt will be somewhere between $26T - $28T and growing from the Tax Cut.
Trump will add more to the debt in one term than any other President in history.

People shit on the streets where you live. Larceny and burglary are misdemeanors that are not prosecuted. People walk into stores and steal openly.

Your alternative to giving loans to businesses that have to be paid back; is giving petty cash to people who don't have to pay it back. Avg rent for a 1 bedroom apt in California is $1,400.

What democrats want to spend money on: unions, gender equality, solar & wind power tax credits, carbon offsets, fuel emission standards.

Nancy Pelosi on TV pretending to be prayerful and solemn again.

Emergency: Making sure ALL genders are represented on EVERY board of directors.

Non Emergency: Low interest loans for small businesses that have been shut down by Gov.

WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF. AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO!
Donald J. Trump
----------------

Australia

Corornavirus deaths to this point - 7
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Normal flu deaths each year - 3,500

"In Australia, influenza on average causes 3,500 deaths, about 18,000 hospitalisations and 300,000 GP consultations each year."

Trump is right IMO, considering the Great Depression had 7 million deaths due to starvation, we have no way of knowing the final casualties of the COVID-19 in the US, but I would bet far less than 7 million when all this over, if we have 1 million that will be very surprising

Have to admit, it's pretty funny. The Republicans want to go full Bernie Sanders, and it's the Democrats who are now to the right trying to stop it. What does the Dem party stand for again? I can't remember.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government's campaign of hate against the US is bearing fruit. Though this picture was taken by a Chinese person who was upset at the sign, there are many, many Chinese who feel this way - thanks to CPC efforts. That said, the idiots who attack Chinese in the West are no better. A lot of idiots around the world, just begging to be led by their leaders into pointless wars. At least war is something the Dems and Repubs will always reach across the aisle to support.

Somebody had a talk with Trump because today he said:

"It is very important that we totally protect our Asian American community in the United States, and all around the world," Trump tweeted. "They are amazing people, and the spreading of the Virus is NOT their fault in any way, shape, or form. They are working closely with us to get rid of it. WE WILL PREVAIL TOGETHER!"

Besides tweeting that, in his speech today as well.

Trump expresses support for Asian Americans after repeatedly using term 'Chinese virus'

while I agree with Trump that people need to stop finger pointing and wanting to hurt Asians in America and else where, they are good people, Xi and the regime in China are evil fuckers, the people in China a just forced to follow the regime, the same with North Korea

Nancy’s Chinese bat virus bill wants $35,000,000 for the JFK performing arts center.

Sounds like a slush fund to me. #democratshateamerica trending all day.

I'm also Type 1. What I don't stock up on is ammo, since I've never needed to own a gun. I live in a peaceful island with not too many nut jobs!
The optimist in me says,
Lucky you!

The paranoid side of me says,

It's both Liberal and Conservative states. Ohio and Louisiana are very red, went Trump last election, shutting things down. I remember Ohio I think being the first, couldn't believe that dude was Republican. I thought the Republican Governors would hold out more.

But, maybe it's working:

"Said DeWine on Saturday: “How it spreads, how fast it spreads, part of it is what we order, but a lot of it is going to come down to what I do in my life, everything 11.7 million Ohioans do in their own lives, and what they don’t do.”

Dr. Robert A. Salata at University Hospitals Roe Green Center Travel Medicine & Global Health agreed: "I believe the aggressive measures taken by Ohio have helped keep the numbers down.“
Speaking of Ohio, I was talking to a relative in that state that is a full on T-man supporter and has been complaining about this "hoax".

As I don't like to get in (unwinnable) heated arguments with any of my people, I had to bite my tongue hard when he mentions at one point that his wife (also a hardcore T-man fan) has self quarantined for the last week... ARGHHHHHHHHH!!!! :wideyed: :xf.confused:  :banghead: :banghead::banghead::banghead:

When you live in a place without "No Go Zones" you don't need a gun or ominous tones to solve your differences.

People around here solve their quarrels mostly with their fists, occasionally with knives and once in a blue moon with a gun.

I can walk around anywhere at night without feeling fear or paranoia or constantly looking over my shoulder as I did when I lived in L.A and San Francisco in the 70's... when passing through certain areas.

It doesn't mean we don't have assholes around here, it's just that people are not trigger happy. It's a very homogeneous society... sort of like Japan but in a tiny scale!

It's an almost stress free island in that respect.

May I ask how the employment there, taxes, cost of living?

May I ask how the employment there, taxes, cost of living?
Before this crisis we had an unemployment rate of about 7-8%. The Island depends a lot on tourism... it's main attraction! I would say that at least 60-65% of jobs are related to the tourist industry. But now the airport is virtually closed, vacations cancelled, anyone coming in has a 14 day quarantine, all Cruise ships were cancelled since about 3 weeks ago. Souvenir shops, restaurants, tourist tours several hotels closed... major Tourist events cancelled, in other words an almost 100% lockdown.

Like elsewhere people are asked to stay home, avoid groups bigger than 5 people. Police and some army are out there to enforce these restrictions.

So, if you think you have it bad in the US, we have it considerably worse here, due to our dependence on tourism.

Cost of living is very affordable for someone coming from outside, like the UK, France, Germany, USA etc. Things like gasoline are expensive... probably 3x more expensive than the US, but on the other hand car insurance is a lot cheaper than in the US.

I remember when I lived in Los Feliz, Los Angeles (in the 70's) I was paying almost $500 for car insurance, while here it was less than $100.

Today I pay about $190 for my car insurance!

During this crisis people have generally been orderly. I went to the supermarket today, only 8 people in line to get in. All shelves were full, including lots of toilet paper. Only shelves that were 95% empty were the yogurts.

When I see images around the world of many dozens of people waiting in line at the supermarkets, I thank my lucky stars for living here.

What is so weird is that you are here everyday, 24/7/365
You Never take a day off from this board.

Either you have no life or there are several people posting under your nick.
I am only here to vent, you are here for life :xf.laugh:

The stimulus will get done most likely on Tuesday so stop your bitching.
I just hope Nancy stops the $500m Mnuchin slush fund.

And as for the markets, be careful, a Dead Cat Bounce is about to bounce on Tuesday.

The stimulus bill will make the markets go up, but only to come back down when reality sets back in a day or two later.

btw, remember when you said 2 weeks ago this would all be over and back to normal 4 weeks from now?
How is that working out for you so far?

In six weeks with this is over, the market recovers and things are back to normal, I'm going to remind everyone

:xf.laugh::ROFL:

C'ya in the morning
