DYNADOT
I take my domain registrar very seriously. I evaluate each registrar first by their ease of use/logicality of their control panel, first and foremost. My first registrar was GoDaddy. I eventually decided that their control panel sucked (it took a while). I then evaluated several control panels. I chose eNom because I really liked their easy to use Control Panel. But once they allowed a domain I owned to be transferred away and then declined to retrieve it (it was a bug in their control panel). That was the end of eNom as my registrar for my then 3K+ domains. In my last search for a new registrar (around 2010). I shortlisted Dynadot, Name, and NameSilo from about 45 Registrars. I selected Dynadot as the most comprehensive and easiest to find my way around. I thought it was a only a tad more difficult to navigate than Name, but had a lot more power. NameSilo was just only starting at that time. I eventually decided it was too early to put my portfolio there. But my decision would be the same today.
For example. I redirect almost all my domains to my website. At every other registrar when setting up the forwarding you have to type in the full address, ie
https://mydomain.com/landingpage.php?d=domainname.com Can you imagine the time I've spend debugging this line at many registrars? At Dynadot. It's 2 clicks and it's done. No need for me to remember (and debug) the actual code at all. This is just 1 small example of the power of Dynadot's Control Panel. There are many tricks like this inside Dynadot's Control Panel. I probably only use about 10% of it's power.
Price was also a significant factor with so many domains. Super Bulk Pricing for my 4k+ of domains at Dynadot ($5k deposit or spend per year) gives me $8.50 registrations .com. Bulk Pricing ($500 deposit or spend per year) give you registrations of $8.75. Free privacy.
Support is also important. I have an senior support staff providing me with support. I don't know when individual support is provided. She's very good. IMHO.
And 1 thing about the free privacy. You get a choice of None,Partial,Full Privacy. None & Full are self-explanatory. But I choose Partial. Because it enables you to include text into the whois record. Which I use to promote my for sale website. I've never seen that feature at ANY other Registrar.
This just touches the service I get from Dynadot. I'm not looking to change my Registrar anytime soon. Totally satisfied. Any of the niggles, like paying $0 for an outward push, I think is insignificant, at worst. Having to use your Dynadot Forum Name to receive pushes. Is a REALLY nice feature. You are not exposing your login name to anybody. All Registrars should operate like that. IMHO.
