As domain consumers, we certainly have a different experience when registering a domain at a registrar. Could NP members share the great reasons why you still loyal to the registrar you use today.

Make sure that we don't attack any registrar , we need to respect the policies of each registrar. It would be better if you also included a sample domain that was registered there

Customer loyalty. I've used GoDaddy exclusively for over 10 years...but I'm going to switch to Epik.

Love that epik’s CEO @Rob Monster is active here, treats everyone same, while lowest .com prices (8.49) and free privacy plus more. Why epik’s winning 2020 best poll. love ❤️ epik

Because 2-3 companies went broke and took half my names icann recommended Godaddy by forcefully transferring domains away from these businesses. 20 years ago mind you but memory still makes me angry.

I use and like Epik, but this is inaccurate. :) There are some registrars offering .coms for less.

More on topic - I currently have domains at five registrars, but I'll probably stick with just 2-3 of them in the future. I have yet to decide which ones.

I've only used Godaddy since the very beginning, because they were the only trustworthy registrar at the time. I am comfortable with their interface and haven't had any major issues. They recently improved their domain management area so that helps. They have much to improve still though...

I haven't fully committed to other registrars yet, because I feel like they are not really as established. Last year i think i saw PorkBun getting alot of votes by domainers and recently it's suddenly getting little to no votes. People jump on bandwagons and registers offering temporary too good to be true deals. And the next year they are dissapointed and shocked.

With Godaddy, From crazy coupon codes in the past to now the discount club... i never have to worry about price changes, or customer service 24/7, etc. I think Godaddy has more to lose while many other registrars can close down tomorrow and it's just another namepros post and we move on. I thought Uniregistry would slowly get better, but now Godaddy owns them lol

I do want to see serious competition though. But if i'm not facing a major problem, i'm not gonna fix what's not broken just to follow bandwagons.

    Porkbun.

They've never screwed me. Everything about them works for my needs: interface, domain push allowance, quick support, total transparency on pricing, pricing, interface (oh did I say that again).

Now just because PB is my fav, I do have a healthy number of dn's spread across a few quality registrars.

But to the original question, why still use the original , because I'm a loyal dog. I'm not going to high-tail out of there just to save a couple bucks. Your time is valuable, you have correlate savings to time spend doing it. How much are you worth as an individual? How much is your time worth? Are you a $20/hour person? $50? $200, $400?

Don't waste your time chasing a couple bucks saved here and there by constantly switching registrars because of "promos". You as a person are worth more than that. Aren't you? Stick with the people who respect and treat you well.

A couple other registrars I highly recommend: Dynadot, Epik and Namesilo. These are top-class as well. Epik has earned my respect, they have a friendly Monster as well as a few other hands on deck that have completely changed the face of what it means to interact with the customer. They make it personal, and bring the goods to the table.

    Take it ease.

Enom was the number one choice until 2 years ago.
Reason: Enom, was ok, I was stupid. Still using for a few domains which are stuck there.
Currently prefer Epik Dynadot Namesilo Porkbun Whois.com Namecheap
-Epik: low prices on some domains, good customer service, some cctlds, marketplace, parking, loans.
-Dynadot, low prices on some domains, chat, easy purchases, marketplace, .uk validation help
-Namesilo: low prices sometimes, chat sometimes, marketplace, easy dns templates-
-Porkbun: low prices on many domains, bulk changes, easy transfer out approval
-whois.com: whois, and good deals sometimes on some domains
-Namecheap: low prices on some domains sometimes, bulk change (but maybe sometimes doesn't work),
may have its own marketplace but not used yet.
There might be some other good registrars. Godaddy might be good for selling(?)

Honestly I've had some domains at several registrars including Dynadot, Godaddy, NameSilo, NameBright, and of course Epik. Epik has been my favorite to deal with, great pricing for domainers if you just ask. Stellar support. Constant innovation. I love how @Rob Monster engages the community. I know many people here complain hes always promoting Epik. So hes proud of what hes help build and he should be. But hes avalible something you never see from a CEO in basically any industry. And hes constant innovating and sharing those new innovations here (promoting) which I for one find useful alot of the nre things hes doing with Epik.

Ya other like Dynadot having good pricing ect. But Epik is on a whole nother level with innovation.

Uniregistry. Superb user-friendly interface and super quick to navigate. Pricing is bit high but overall a great registrar.

Epik and has been for over 4 years.

    1. Customer Service is the main reason. I had never heard of Epik and bought a name that the seller pushed to me there. I had an issue and emailed their support at about midnight, expecting my answer the next day. To my surprise I had an immediate response and it was from the company CEO, non the less. That won my business.

2 Value. The complete package value is incomparable; Price of registrations, renewals and transfers coupled with Free privacy, low commission marketplace that is teamed with free landers that allow an immediate purchase to be made.

    3. Innovation. They are never complacent but constantly on the search to try a build a better mousetrap. The entrepreneur in my LOVES that.

    DYNADOT

I take my domain registrar very seriously. I evaluate each registrar first by their ease of use/logicality of their control panel, first and foremost. My first registrar was GoDaddy. I eventually decided that their control panel sucked (it took a while). I then evaluated several control panels. I chose eNom because I really liked their easy to use Control Panel. But once they allowed a domain I owned to be transferred away and then declined to retrieve it (it was a bug in their control panel). That was the end of eNom as my registrar for my then 3K+ domains. In my last search for a new registrar (around 2010). I shortlisted Dynadot, Name, and NameSilo from about 45 Registrars. I selected Dynadot as the most comprehensive and easiest to find my way around. I thought it was a only a tad more difficult to navigate than Name, but had a lot more power. NameSilo was just only starting at that time. I eventually decided it was too early to put my portfolio there. But my decision would be the same today.

For example. I redirect almost all my domains to my website. At every other registrar when setting up the forwarding you have to type in the full address, ie https://mydomain.com/landingpage.php?d=domainname.com Can you imagine the time I've spend debugging this line at many registrars? At Dynadot. It's 2 clicks and it's done. No need for me to remember (and debug) the actual code at all. This is just 1 small example of the power of Dynadot's Control Panel. There are many tricks like this inside Dynadot's Control Panel. I probably only use about 10% of it's power.

Price was also a significant factor with so many domains. Super Bulk Pricing for my 4k+ of domains at Dynadot ($5k deposit or spend per year) gives me $8.50 registrations .com. Bulk Pricing ($500 deposit or spend per year) give you registrations of $8.75. Free privacy.

Support is also important. I have an senior support staff providing me with support. I don't know when individual support is provided. She's very good. IMHO.

And 1 thing about the free privacy. You get a choice of None,Partial,Full Privacy. None & Full are self-explanatory. But I choose Partial. Because it enables you to include text into the whois record. Which I use to promote my for sale website. I've never seen that feature at ANY other Registrar.

This just touches the service I get from Dynadot. I'm not looking to change my Registrar anytime soon. Totally satisfied. Any of the niggles, like paying $0 for an outward push, I think is insignificant, at worst. Having to use your Dynadot Forum Name to receive pushes. Is a REALLY nice feature. You are not exposing your login name to anybody. All Registrars should operate like that. IMHO.

    GoDaddy

    - Cheap renewals if member of club
    - Credit if member of club (just got 5k credit for 35k purchase
    - Cheap.com purchasing
    - Easy auction to account
    - Plenty of names to choose, especially single English .com and .org
    - Great customer service
    - Offer Word Press website building

I could go on but GoDaddy are simple and easy and cheap. Bottom line.

@Super-Annuation - Have you "never heard of the doctrine to never keep your domains and hosting at the same company" Because if something goes wrong with your hosting (which is possible as Word Press has wide use and not always kept up to date), GoDaddy locks your domains as well. So you are stuck in the clutches of intransigent men in black suits. You can't just move your hosting to another hosting company and upload to another hosting company, and re-point your DNS. You are frozen in time. If this is a revenue generating business, you are doubly screwed until you satisfy GoDaddy about the problem they see. GoDaddy's fraud department have a habit of sending you this notice on a thursday. So you get until friday 5pm to fix it (not a lot of time), and satisfy those men in black suits, who are not easily satisfied. Which means you can't talk to these people again until Monday 9am. This is a stupid situation to be in, leaving your registrar to have blackmail situation over you livelihood. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS KEEP OUR DOMAINS AND HOSTING WITH SEPARATE INDEPENDENT COMPANIES. So this can NEVER happen to you.

That's a fair point. My marketplace is still the widget built DIY project and lacks everything. But I have a team working on a new website for my marketplace, meaning I'll have them seperated. Goo point... But for beginners, I think it's okay to have it all in the onw place.

I only mentioned it because you looked to be ALL IN with GoDaddy, and it should be one of the Golden Rules of Domainers. Well of everybody. We should know better. At least you are now aware of the possibility and intend to fix it. GoDaddy are probably the worst and most draconian in their application of their rules. It's a slim chance. So if you are a lucky person, you may not get affected. Are you a gambling man? Or do you prefer not to take such life altering chances. I would NEVER keep my domains and hosting at the same Registrar. EVER.

I've used Godaddy and other registrars since I started. And no matter how many times I think that I am done with Godaddy, there will always be that one client or seller that only wants to deal with Godaddy.

So my Godaddy account comes in handy then.
