Edit...wow, 5 dead now...so sad. Regardless of race, creed, national origin, political beliefs, the dirtbag(s) that did the killing should be given to the families of those slain.

Unfortunately 7 people dead out of 22 who were shot by the shooter (plus the shooter himself who was killed by the police).

@Mister Funsky , the suspect was shot and killed after fleeing to Cinergy cinema and ramming a stolen usps van that he was using to get away with in to a police car.

Shootings took place in several different locations as the chase had ensued earlier but it all ended at Cinergy cinema where the suspect was killed.

Three police officers were among the injured who were shot. Apparently this all started with a traffic stop and then escalated to this.

The suspect was driving a gold color sedan on the interstate highway where he was pulled over by the highway patrol which ended in shots being exchanged and then drove away in to town where he switched to the usps van after killing the driver.

This was not pre planned, just someone going over the edge and starting to shoot people randomly at different locations as he drove around. All supposedly started over a simple traffic stop.

Some people think that there were two people involved, but that's because the shooter switched cars.

Not a good thing to happen on the Labor day holiday weekend.

Some at the hospital are in critical condition so everyone keep praying for them.

I think Alexis de Tocqueville was exactly right. In modern times, America has been in a long downward spiral, and we threw it into overdrive when we legalized baby-killing, made divorce easy, and promoted licentious sex.

When he says "Church", he is talking about the Christian church. The truth is more accessible than ever. Today, the churches are overrun by compromisers who rarely preach repentance, righteousness or salvation through blood atonement of Jesus Christ.

Since the fall of man, vice and temptation has always been present. However, in modern times, we somehow made vice cooler than ever. As one would expect, we are now reaping that which was sowed.

It is high time to be salt and light.

That is why it is so hard for me to find one I like...brick and mortar church...many are filled with self righteous people claiming they never sin There are some great orators with shows on daystar network that I enjoy watching (to be clear, I don't like alot of the programming there).

I certainly am not perfect and 'backslide' more often that I care to admit, but my path is clear (although I get diverted sometimes) and I know where it leads!

Humanity as a whole as far as our political systems, religions, societies, cultures, and traditions which control our way of life and thinking and also this Planet as far as the Environment need a Correction, the same way as a Company which might need a Correction if it is having problems both as far as workforce and infrastructure. We can wait for this Correction to take place naturally which most probably might not go all to our liking in such cases if a dictator takes over the World and wants to force his or her will on everyone or if the planet goes through a correction that ends up in eliminating all life on it.

Education is key in making people consciously aware of the urgency of this situation as we don’t have much time before everything starts to claps around us. Religion has done its part so far by bringing some morality and discipline to our lives, but now we have come to the point that we can no longer just be led subconsciously without being aware of what is going on around us.

The first step in bringing about any Reforms is for us to replace Hate with Compassion by educating everyone so that they come to realize that the only way that they can save themselves is by working together and by finding a way to unite around the common cause of saving Humanity and this Planet based on logic, compassion and the Universal rights and values that we all agree on. I strongly believe that this is what someone was trying to open our eyes to 2000 years ago, but unfortunately the message might have gotten lost or misinterpreted in some cases over the years.

I am not a Muslim, but I know you are all in this with the rest of us. We are all on a journey and I have had mostly positive direct encounters with Muslims around the world.

I have always been puzzled as to why houses are built with such light materials in hurricane prone areas where they can be blown away so easily, and then they are built with very heavy materials in earthquake areas where they can come down over people's heads and kill them, to me it makes more sense if it was the other way around. IMO

When I was driving in Carolina this summer, I saw a lot of A.M.E. churches. I had to look that up -- African Methodist Episcopal.

Interesting part of the country -- lots of dilapidated Masonic temples, and tons of churches, some of which look like they are thriving.

These are both young authentic guys that are encouraging and inspiring viewers with life stories as it happens and I think helping young folks live righteous lives, to overcome temptation and to have faith.

Marcus Rogers, is an ex-con who turned his life around. He skews pentecostal, as in "tongues are a sign" which I personally don't believe, though I accept that it can be a gift, i.e. I am non-cessationist in my view there.

The challenge with some of these YT preachers, like many preachers, is that they ultimately have to make a living. As time goes on, ome of them will "sell God" just like any church would. Over the years, I have supported a bunch of online preachers.

T.D. Jakes is a an example of a talented orator who pretty much went full-on prosperity gospel. His daughter got pregnant at 13. His son was arrested for indecent exposure.

The Internet lets you find this stuff out, so that you can vet the folks you are relying on for spiritual instruction. This is another reason to be thankful for free speech as there are plenty of wolves in sheeps clothing, and the clergy has more than its fair share.

This hurricane grew very rapidly to become a Cat-4 from a small tropical storm that it started at, makes one wonder if hurricanes are going to get stronger more quickly from now on and how much of it has to do with global warming, there are certainly some real changes happening in the environment that we can see for ourselves regardless of what anyone else says. IMO

One gets the sense that the images that will emerge from the Bahamian cays are going to be heartbreaking.

At a 6 mile per hour westerly drift, the eye runs into Florida after sundown on Monday. The early forecasts that Dorian was going to be a nothingburger were way wrong.

For the shelter in place folks on a coast, with 20+ foot storm surge, remember the attic is not a good option unless it has an exit window/hatch.

@oldtimer - I personally put more stock in "weather modification" than I do in "anthropogenic warming". That topic was covered earlier in the thread. Just as the Internet has become weaponized, there is evidence that the weather can be modified.

Now a Cat 5 with 185 mph winds. Effective tomorrow there is a mandatory evacuation of almost one million people in South Carolina. Interstates will be one way heading away from the coast towards Columbia.

Yes, storms will increase in number and intensity as time moves forward. A family friend just sold nearly 2,000 acres in the middle of nowhere in the eastern part of North Carolina. A large 'super farm' corporation bought the land for future (20 years from now) planting/harvesting...of citrus trees.

In the past there used to be one or maybe two hurricanes at or above Cat-3 , now we are starting this season with a Cat-5 , that's a little cause for concern specially if there are going to be several of this strength in one season. At the cost of 100 to 200 billion dollars per storm it can soon add up to be in trillion dollar range per year. IMO
