My mind was roaming through some things pertaining to DOMAINING
And I started asking myself what is the next Big thing to come.

Back in the days no one new of blockchain
Or crypto but today we all know,
The early domain investors that are always on alert, got paid handsomely

What about the Libra era that is still in the air
Well all the 1st tier name pertaining to Libra has also gone to those that got early info.

We have seen so many era and probably most of us new starters missed out

Now am hoping on the future,
I really wish to hit the jackpot when the next big thing opens up like a flower

Jackpot like the owner of blockchain.com had before it blew.

So let's discuss what in your opinion from the way the world is changing is gonna be the next big thing.

For me i think 5G will be the next big thing
Whoever got 5G.com would be very lucky by then.

Lets hear your opinions:xf.grin: and make this fun

Is a very good name
You could get up to $50,000 if you hold up

Will wait for the right offer to come or might build around it.

Don't build anything on that if your planning to sell. These corporations prefer clean slates when they spend big money.

5G speed AI controlled 3D printed VR sex robots that take payments via NFC bitcoin and use CBD oil as lube..

Yes! I knew I was onto something when I registered this one:

I think the natural medicines market is ready to explode, however big pharma have bottomless pockets and will do everything in their power to stop it.

To me the next big thing is

the artificial intelligence of additive manufacturing of nano/micro scale components
namely, AI of 3D/4D printing, CNC machining, self-assembly (autonomous manufacturing)

when we speak about domain names, it is voice navigation, imo :)

This should be clarified in September and finalised in December, but the FCA notes that stablecoins that have a 1:1 peg with a currency will most likely meet the definition of electronic money and fall into the Regulated FCA category of ‘eMoney Tokens’ which falls under ‘Utility Tokens’ which is currently unregulated.

So there’s a few that may fall into such a category.

Facebook’s ‘Libra’ has suggested it will be a tethered coin and closely associated with the US dollar

China’s Central Bank ‘Close’ to Launching a digitised Yuan.

The Bank of Sweden has not yet decided whether the test launch of ‘e-krona’ will be for a short- or long-term period.

Japan is likely to launch its own cryptocurrency, called ‘J Coin’, ahead of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The currency would be valued one to one with their national currency, Yen.

Attempts to create a national cryptocurrency have already been undertaken by countries such as Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Estonia and Venezuela.

Thanks for clearing this up levi_charlz. It'll be interesting to see how they finalise the legal differentiations between emoney tokens and exchange tokens etc, which fall under the utility token category, right? They may even be their own categories.

Once regulatory bodies figure it all out, the institutionalisation of cryptoassets comes next. In a few years, suprplus spending units and deficit spending units, household to government, we'll see the mainstream facilitation and settlement of funds wrapped in a cryptoasset vehicle.

I'm suprised the SEC hasn't taken a greater lead in this space. Sure the Howey Test and the likes of Regulation A - exemptions etc, well regulation in general, is speeding investment along, but that's what everyones waiting on. Progress is too slow for my liking.

So anyway, it'll be emoney tokens, exchange tokens either under or beside utility tokens i guess? I'm hoping to see development in the security token area. Imagine an account with a redraw facility... Like holding preference shares/bonds and spending the balance (or anticipated dividend if we're to use a case of preference shares as an analogy, as they're cumulative) by using a proportionate withdrawal selection. Meaning $1 deducted proportionately from each investment option (that's 10 cents from each investment option if invested in 10 options) within your portfolio, because npw transaction costs are now going to be minimal across the world.

However, I don't consider it appropriate to do the above if spending the value of an equity token as aggressive assets like equities should sensibly be held for a minimum of 8 - 10 years. If you can't invest for 10 years, you shouldn't invest for 10 minutes haha. But those sorts of convenient lines of credit or offset/redraw facilities will be made available in the crypto space so check that.

It's very exciting to see everything unfolding, and I can only imagine your anticipation because I'm looking at those gems in your signature, and seeing the foresight. Should be great!

Yea, I'm not sure I'm planning to sell it.

Tokens may have mixed features that may overlap with the above categories, or change over time. For example, Ethereum can be used as a means of ‘payment’ (exchange token) on the Ethereum platform, and can also be used to run applications (utility token). XRP has similar features,”

I would imagine governments will want to run their own exclusive Blockchain platforms (utility) to manage the business end of governance from governmental policy, health records to Customs and Tax etc.. and also have a national regulated eMoney Token within that platform.

I expect National eMoney Tokens will be under the Utility umbrella while Exchange Tokens will be alongside and have hundreds of categories and be subject to vast scrutiny and complex regulation.

The whole world is currently going through an arduous update and it's going to take some time. However, Governments will provide clarity on what suits them first. Everyone else will have to wait.

The next big thing would be Electrics. The competition is only heating up - wsj dot com/articles/gm-volkswagen-say-goodbye-to-hybrid-vehicles-11565602200
While 5g would also be the next big thing, but the competition is oligopoly - there are only a few telecom operators in every country - so there would be no real demand for such domain names. But competition related to electric is perfect and the demand would stem from Manufacturers, Distributors and Dealers.

Yes at the very least a permissioned distributed ledger , or whatever the central banks decide upon. I'm wondering if management of the nation token will be similar to that of Libra, only centralized control by the RBA here, which is necessary.

But if everyon's using utility tokens, emoney and exchange tokens for their purposes, I can only see businesses exposed to currency risk using our national token. If you take Libra stablecoin using bank notes etc as a way to manage exchange conversion in each country, I could use libra for whatever here, or buy USA goods for the same price as it would with the national currency. So the incentive isn't as great as say businesses who depend on monetary policy to manage the conversion rate, possible better than say universal stablecoins in the sense that management of economic impact on accounts payable might be more immediate on the blockchain under a national utility token.

That is, Stablecoins can do what a national coin can, only the national coin might support domestic business, as it's value should respond to business needs more efficiently. This is whatt I'm getting at. So I as a citizen may use Libra to pay for Uber, because of an exclusive promotional offer where rides are cheaper if I do. Businesses may use a national token because the reserve may, adjust the dollar quicker than the universal stablecoin and thus make it more competitive in the market, or help in managing costs.

I just can't see the reserve having as much pull over inflation etc, can you?. I don't know it's brave new times.

In Australia, we're moving clearing house operations, the likes of post-trade transaction data etc onto the blockchain using a DLT node. Supposed to have a live nationwide testing environment, by June next year.

I guess you heard about the electric train
.that was used to transport Muslim to Mecca recently.:xf.grin:

By road trip it would take 5hours on a normal day
But with the electric train is just 2 hours

Designed to run 300km/hr

We might be seeing more of these new tech and in return the domain market will boom in respect to this

@Visdom you really are on track

There are things that are easy to forecast in terms of terminology and domains, such as 5G, as it's the next progression and incremental step, but many buzzwords in technology come out of nowhere, that evolve out of one news article that gain traction overnight.

You probably won't register the $xxx, xxx ElectricCar.com domain, but you could register the $xx,xxx ChargingStations.com domain name.

Forecasting domains is not always about the biggest trends, but the services/businesses that follow those trends

Legal Tech would always require a personal touch or a lawyer/attorney to backup those terms, agreements, contracts, etc imo

As a tech/Domainer, I tell that the next big thing in tech.

1. Digital Twins (enabled by IIOT)
2. Additive Manufacturing (Am) populary called 3D printing but this time with metals
3. Metal powders (to support 3D printing)
4. Active Security (to combat data hacks.)

I think 5G and IOT left the station already. It will be hard to find an available IOT or 5G domain name. Do yourself a favour and reaserch the trends I just mentioned.

Most replies here point to 3D printing
Is a really strong signal

FNALITY’S DIGITAL COIN SET TO SHAKE UP WHOLESALE BANKING

Fnality’s token is aimed at usage exclusively by financial institutions. The company’s 14 founding shareholders that have provided the initial funding include UBS, Banco Santander, Bank of New York (BNY) Mellon, Barclays, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Commerzbank, Credit Suisse, ING, KBC Group, Lloyds Banking Group, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) Bank, Nasdaq, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and State Street.

In short, eMoney Tokens are going to dwarf the Crypto Market.

This same question would have been asked some ten years ago. How many of the predictions then were right or have manifested now?. I wish there could be some accuracy in all these predictions.

The truth is, we might not even know what or where the next big thing would be. Maybe human teleportation will be possible Scientifically. Scientifically in bold because human teleportation has been happening for ages in Africa. Dont ask me how but I know.

Maybe there will finally be cure for cancer, Herpes, Hiv.

Maybe smartphones will be outdated and I can just tap my fingers and a web page will appear in front of me.

Maybe 1bitcoin will be worth $100000
