Just searching around some keywords i have, one of my favorite domains is:-

One thing i've noticed is news articles/social media is using the word more and more from when i bought it. My way of thinking at the time was single word (rare in VR/AR), looked at other similar words like ’awesomeness’ and just felt when VR/AR takes off could be an important word and a memorable brand for a company to build around in virtual tech.

Bought the domain from @xr reality a couple years ago now.

What’s a domain you have (not necessary your best) but you really like?
Hey buddy, Love that name mine is Holograms3x.com is a favourite for some reason. Love reading all the comments i do check in regularly need to post more.

VR is kind of boring right now. Not seeing it going mainstream in the next 10 years unless Apple pulls a miracle device out of their ass. The misconception was that desktop VR was holding the industry back but mobile VR may not be very attractive to consumers either in the way tech is today and the coming years. I've tried vr a couple of time and can honestly say that even if they greatly improved the tech I still won't find it exciting enough to buy a headset unless it costs less than 50€. thought I was hoping for 2023 for significant mainstream adaption but I think the tech may need a LOT more time than that and by then AR could be center stage sucking attention from VR because they have similar use cases... Many more strictly VR companies will struggle to make a profit and get funding if they're aren't adapting AR as a service or product. It could get gloomy and the age of VR may pass until it's third, more technologically advanced coming.

Again...i will stand corrected if Apple pulls a miracle vr headset out of stealth... But I doubt it. They're smart. They knew this all along and have been focusing on AR all along. Companies register patents that they have zero plans to use every day so don't use Apple's vr patents as some kind of evidence that they're working on a vr headset. Its not necessarily true and if they aren't, because Apple is the market trend setter it doesn't look like a promising near future for VR (the next 10 - 15yrs) .

I hope you're wrong, with those deadlines it is possible that some of us will not arrive.

We were wrong a few years ago with the growth expectations of VR, do not fall now in the unwarranted discouragement, in my humble opinion.

At the beginning of the new cycle of vr many of us sin of optimism, we believed that its development was going to be explosive for two reasons:

1) The enormous possibilities of the medium itself.
2) The great expectations that were created from the industry itself, I still remember having read declarations by some company managers saying that there were hundreds of thousands of developers working on the development kits.

Many people and companies took to the adventure and the result has been that many have closed because the ecosystem was still not sustainable.

Something similar has happened to us, I have had to reduce my portfolio a lot, although I think that deep down it will really benefit me. It has forced me to stay with what I think is the best, even if I have dropped some valuable names, reducing my financial effort and giving stability to my portfolio in the long term.

In my humble opinion, although I may be wrong again of course, the desert crossing is coming to an end, if there is minimal hardware enough for the expansion of VR to begin.

For example, I think Go has the potential to be the base for the development of a huge number of business applications, has a minimum acceptable quality for many of them, is friendly and easy to use and is cheap. You just have to give some time for your potential to be discovered and begin to be used as a powerful tool.

And Quest, always in my opinion, has the potential to attract a lot of supporters among gamers, because of the features that you all know.

These two are an example that may be the basis for development, will come out more in the coming months, keep calm because if there is one thing that we have not been wrong is the potential of the medium:

XR will be very large and will move many billions and that will generate a large domain name market.

I'll go back to the beginning, I hope you're mistaken and that in the next few years, two maybe three, we'll start to see an active market for the sale of domains.

xrayxr.com is my favorite,
but not for value, just feels like its only brandable possible of its kind with xr word

truth = I paid 1 dollar each
truth = many of the .com's will be priced extremely high if these become the dominant product titles
example , ARlens.com seller asking 230,000 usd , so my ARlens.co at 5% looks decent.
truth = 4 months ago when I first began I had the exact reaction on many domains
some of which I sold in the XXXX already.

but all opinions welcome :) happy trading all !

example , ARlens.com seller asking 230,000 usd , so my ARlens.co at 5% looks decent.

I will not say that you will not find a end user. But I will add some perspective for you to think about.

They are non .com's.
That in itself says you are betting the strength left of the dot will be high enough (in demand) to expand right of the dot to other TLD's. Well, there are over 100 to pick from right of the dot. And your TLD's do not compliment the name itself.

I submit to you that a good strategy would be to flip them to the holder of the .com if you can and make a quick $10-50 and move on before you accumulate losses waiting on the field to expand.

Looking at at least one of them, the .com is for sale at 3.7k and probably obtainable much under 2k.
Almost all of the TLD's are available for a hand reg. Why would anyone pay a premium for what you hold ?

Pick a good premium name (or two) in a .com and follow it with other TLD's and watch those other TLD's actual end use for a telling story. That will separate value from speculation in your eyes.

Just one perspective and there are plenty of those. Give it some thought.

Finding a name that may be in need is not a issue as much as finding a name that will be in need AND bring a value is the tricky part. Find that need, then go find a name that best represents that need.

Ok but what if this isnt reality , and in the future the bad domains like mine are worth the most, and the L.com is just pennies .... Joking.

I hear you, I respect and will soak in your advice. I planned to be more confident the trend of the tech is going in my direction before renewing all, and I more or less have this as less then 5% of portfolio, but im having fun doing it so its a win win already.

Never look at the .com and "imagine" what it would sell for and then go and register .net, us or .co and hope it will sell for a fraction of the price, domaining doesnt work like that.

You see ARLens.com listed for $230,000, thats just a listing price, it means nothing and the owner is dreaming if they think it will sell for that. Never look at the listing price, check out namebio or dnjournal and see the actual sales, thats what counts, there are thousands of dreamers out there thinking their names will sell for x,xxx or xx,xxx when they just registered them.

Just like Collectables.com.au will never sell for $250,000 or fordgt.com.au for $200,000 as they are listed on Ebay :xf.smile:

Firstly , I do respect my elders , and I am sure you have much greater experience than I , but taking a % of a portfolio for .co with these strategies could very well pay off.
I kind of see it as a NASA vrs SpaceX :) old school ways stand solid for sure, but there will always be new births of creativity that flourish. a member on here sold qubit.co for 18k just recently, it now redirects to the .com , ujet.co is a top saas company as their .com was taken by a scooter company, the list is very extensive. the new age of fully online digital 100 million dollar companies is here and growing.

no more bank tellers, fintech on way. hell maybe even fin.tech or fintechcom.co ;)

but again, I do appreciate all input, and I feel even the strong opinions will be taken to give me balance from swaying to far in one direction.

4D cinema's are starting to emerge again with the immersive sector gaining momentum at the moment so I do really like this one.

Immersive Room (.com)

I have also sold 6 VR adult domain names for a nice ROI as well to a pretty big studio. These were all keyword + VR (y)

The best place to list adult is probably gfy (.com)

I did have interest from listing there but being honest I did sell these by doing outbound to the company that I thought would have interest in buying them.

These were imo good 1single keyword + VR domains though.

ok no worries, its not about being older or more experienced, its about trying to figure out what works, if this theory worked regularly, every single domainer on here would be doing it. One question you must asked yourself before registering any names

"Why is this name available with the thousands of domainers regging names ever day?" The answer is usually pretty obvious.

Try focus on expiring lists and email existing owners of good names, if you look hard enough, there are bargains to be found. Its always better to spend $200 on 1 or 2 decent name than spending $200 on 20 crappy hand registered names, at least the chances of selling are a lot higher.

I would also avoid .ME names in this niche, its hard enough selling .com names

Yeah, its tough finding names for low to mid xxx but if look hard enough, they are there, an example is I bought holotech.com for low xxx and CloudStorage.de & CloudServer.de for $300 for the pair and they sold for nice amounts. I also find patience is important, a person says they wants $2000, wait a couple of months and try again, you will be surprised how quickly people drop their prices.

They bargains are there, i bought the cloud names in the middle of the cloud hype, the trick is to find people not on namepros who get sucked into the hype and raise their prices.

The VR/AR tech is still a few years away from mainstream, you only have to check out advertising agencies, real estates, schools, travel agents and other businesses to see just how few of them actually use this technology. It will be almost impossible to find these names cheap in 5-10 years time, its still early days. 😊
