The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I've had a significant increase to 1 of my parked .co domains: jawbone - not sure why so I did the right thing and increased my BIN price.

@Joe Styler

thank you for your reply about the new .co tier pricings. hopefully you will have more info soon.. as the pricings kick in.. in a couple days.

in meantime, I have ran into a brand new issues today at godaddy with relation to what apparently .co will now consider as premium names.. so some/all 3l.co, some/all 4l.co, and some/all 1word .co..

I tried to add a couple of 3l.co and 1word .co to gd auctions this morning and received a message I never saw before. would you be able to clarify this message and say if it is part of the new .co pricing tier and how gd auctions will be coping with it. if so, then what exactly would this mesage indicate about how gd auctions will be coping with it? will we no longer be allowed to list what .co registry may be considering as premium names, but not actually owning them and being their seller.

plz see picture below... again this occured on a few of my 3l.co and 1word .co names.

Can you give me an example of the domain you tried to list so I can have the developers look into it?

Can you give me an example of the domain you tried to list so I can have the developers look into it?

actually it happened to a few .co domains.. upon further inspection I realized that they were already added before and in my account.

however, I know for fact from experience.. that this is not the message I should be getting for domains already existing and listed. those would just be marked as "listed" on the following screen.. where we pick catergory and prices.. I am sure you know this.

that being said, I have a feeling this is associated with the upcoming .co pricings. is this possible at all? so in a general way, can you ask someone whether there will be gd auctions changes related to new premium .co name pricings?

only about a week or so ago, I was still able to add these names, even if already listed, without getting this message on that screen... so for sure, this is some new modification.

thanks.

some co activity for me:

had a start offer of 350$ on gd on nice one word brandable/etc name today... I intend to keep it longwhile.. so im no rush.. countered 6k.. see where it goes... (e.s.o,t.e.r.i,c...co)

also sitting on 750$ for nice 3l.co.. with all vowels... not sure if I shoudl take it.. maybe reinvest in 2-3 other 3l.co with the money.. while you can still buy them cheap 100-300$ ... but I gotta figure out first if this isn't a particularly good potential acronym....hmmm.. (i..a,..e...co)

did u try non prem?
maybe co raised all prices for all names?

cause the domainwire article made it clear co will not be raising renewals.. just initial registration cost for premiums.

unless this hike is all coming from gd only.. and not from .co.. @Joe Styler

non prem is unchanged,
At least the premium .co transfer price increase.

well.. normally across extensions.. transfer prices are treated like renewal prices.. though I don't think they always necessarily match.. I mean on same registrar of course.. cause they can vary if you compare them across diff registrars.

so imo if gd increased transfer price.. then this would mean they also increased renew price.. and since .co made it clear in all articles I read they won't be increasing renewal prices on .co (premium or other).. then this must be coming from gd... @Joe Styler ? plz clarify. ty.

cheers

I think untill last night transfers were $24.99 and renewals $34.99 even for LLL.co’s

ok just an update.. I was able to get some info from support and other sources about godaddy... if Joe wants to add something plz do as some things still remain unsure..

so there is a price increase on premium names... for transfer.. not sure about renewal...
seems for non premium names everything is as it was.

question remains.. does this price increase come from gd or from .co.. since .co has been saying all along they wont increase renewal/transfer costs... and I can hardly see that as meaning they could increase transfer costs.. but not renewal costs.

I was also able to find what is going on with people no longer able to list premium names on .co... this one is coming from gd.. not .co... so what happens is that gd auctions simply does not want people (this goes for any premium names in any extension) to buy things on gd auctions and then discover their purchase costs premium fee to renew..

which does make some sense to me.. but again, goes back to the question that renewal costs aren't supposed to increase for .co.. .therefore this precaution by gd auction should not really exist for .co premiums.

Joe.. can you comment further? thanks!

well its sept1
and looks like .co kept the promises

tons of premium names rolled out.. prices probably depend on registrar.. like for other extensions.. but I think they just give the min price from .co to each registrar.. and then registrars adds whatever profit they want to it..

so at name.com its like 125$ for tons of names..

and at first glance.. its far from being JUST 1word.. or just 3l.. or just 4l..

synco.co ............is premium
coolproducts.co

etc
etc

its beginning to look like this is the end of getting good .co names for just about all of us at less than say $100.. still have not seen what other tiers are like.. seems everything I checked so far is same price/tier.

but,. I'm sure there will be a few tiers..

I'm gonna guess a lot more domainers will be renewing their decent/good names from this point on.. which is nice little extra bonus for .co.. though I wouldn't be suprised if it was their primary goal or one of primary goals.. imo renewal prices or transfer prices aren't changing and those are not the orders from .co to increase renewals.. but I think some registrars.. like godaddy.. have taken the opporunity of premium tiers intro to make a few extra dollars for their pockets.. and it seems gd has also created their own set of tiers for renewal/transfer. so far I've only seen it at gd. which is why I assume its not orders from .co to do this...

not sure how this will impact endusers.. obviously endusers do not really know about these changes.. unless they go register a premium .co from registrar directly.

I guess we should now all keep in mind before dropping our .co that we may never own it again for less than $100 reg price.... something to think about I guess...

@alcy I was watching checking the drops

synco like you said and crea
cashcash ..premium 129.99 (2word)

I managed to get 1 two worder I like

yeah... thanks DBR...
things aren't looking too hot right now.. kinda chaotic too

this basically means WAAAAAAAAAAY less regs of .co from domainers.. cause a lot of stuff and basically everything worth owning wil now be premium.. so I guess they'll be just having endusers buying these...

and also this means... imo.......WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more renewals.. this time FROM DOMAINERS... on stuff they already own.

sounds like a win win for .co.. but.. we'll see about that I guess.

ah! congrats! you may be the first domainer in the world (maybe hehe) to pickup a .co from the new premium pool ;)

like when there is a first baby of the year born type of thing ;)

unfortunately I don't have a list of all premium names. maybe its something that only .co owns and will never share.. I guess we just have to type in the names and check prices.. and thats how we know :)

cheers

Picked 7 recently dropped domains, tried to registered them with DD... DD said all 7 are available and they would gladly accept my money for them, only $9.99 apiece... Well, i paid and got only 4 domains of 7 ))) 3 were missing in some Colombian limbo.

Back and forth with their support, and whoa - apparently Dynadot system was not ready to this Premium thing... Yet few hours ago. Now those 3 domains show their real premium price... I asked to refund me money for those 3 rather than keeping it in my balance, let's see...

Anyway, the 4 i've grabbed:

B/Data/ .co
Mega/Sale/ .co
Invest/Direct/ .co
Safety/Group/ .co

All are taken in 20+ other zones.

yep.. this is bound to happen at many registrars.. some of which didn't even know about upcoming changes..

obviously, the 4 you grabbed were considered non premiums. then the other 3... they had to reprice.

there are registrars out there so behind about this tier pricing or unaware of it.. that they block registrations of premium names completely.. just giving u msg that says domain not available.

cheers

Huston we have a problem
.CO Internet S.A.S who manage .CO made & make same practice like .TV or .XYZ
Any considered premium domain by them & dropped are available for registered at high prices
Here is a short list of today
Occasion.co $1200.00
Prune.co $600.00
Athlete.co $1200.00
Celebration.co $6000.00
& LLL ( any LLL not important if are premium or not )
isi.co $1200.00
lep.co $1200.00
oit.co $1200.00
rop.co $1200.00
dni.co $1200.00
jup.co $1200.00
So no chance for any one to buy LLL .co under $1200 as free registration
I have a LLL .co i sell with 600$ :xf.grin:
Be advice all domains above will not be dropped in price by .CO Internet S.A.S at least for a long long time

Powersports.co - $120 really? as free hand registration

Not premium
j-m.co $10.9 yeh you can pay . They can keep it LOL

So personal why in the name of i will sell my Racism.co ( IMO consider is a premium ) with $100 or $ Smog.co or WorldWideWeb.co at theft resale price ?!? Not to mention LLL
Keep your LLL .co & make money , keep your premium .co and sell with good price

tanks for headsup

we have been discussing this on this thread and couple others for past month.

as you say, this move from co will probably result in many more renewals. which may go up a bit too.. and more or less depending on which registrar.

cheers

p.s not sure where you get your 3l.co prices.. but as I Wrote in a previous post.. I saw a first 3l.co expire yesterday and available to reg for $600 at name.com

clearly, premium name prices will vary based on registrar.. like they do for xyz premium or others... check my post few posts up with picture.
