We have a lot of domain investors here on nP that is following different strategies. Some only hand reg. domains while others buy from aftermarket, some likes to participate in auctions and some prefer to catch domains from dropcatch services.

Starting from your first domain reg. till now, how much did you pay the most for a domain name?

Tell us about its story like where you bought it, what is the name, do you still own it or sold it ?

I bought a dot com for $500 in a private deal on Flippa about 3 years ago. Still have it. Apart from that name I've only been above 100 dollars once.

I buy domains for xx,xxx every month... x,xxx multiple times a month. It's the only way if you're serious about domain investing.

Don't necessary agree with this - If I had the capital to invest at that level that would be great!

I think you can be serious about investing at any monetary level, it would depend on a persons application, dedication etc to show if they were serious

Fair. I mean if you are doing it for a living, you're going to really struggle if you don't invest at least x,xxx into some names.

I purchased a few 3L .coms this year already. GEF, DQO, and 1 other. I also purchased a lot of other big keyword names like SportsAgent, CollegeAthletics, and others like that in .com.

Is this your full time job Josh? If so that is a good point, as the bills don't pay themselves.

The more you spend on a name, generally the better the quality and more chance to sell on for a profit? Or do you buy a lot of names and go down the percentage route?

I am full time. It's my only source of income and I live in SoCal, so buying and selling at scale is important. I'm generally looking for 5-10x from end-users but will flip names for 2x on a monthly basis to keep sales moving.

I love exact match .com domains not a huge fan of 4L .coms but I would hold on to those 3L .coms for the next 2-3 years, would have help to boost your business if purchased them for fair price.

And of course we all need the luck factor. Best of luck!
