Grace Delete / DefaultUser / WorldsWorstDomainer will personally thank EVERY SINGLE post in this thread UNTIL someone says something about post count and gets too obsessed about reputations and starts gaming the system etc.

^ That has happened so no more ...was fun while it lasted.

Johname will personally LIKE every post in this thread until he doesn't

No racist, sexist, homophobic material that woudnt be acceptable in the 70s please.
We are ok with boobs and we are ok with men with abs (or whatever it is that makes them attractive). Ogling is healthy. Violence, not accepting that it is shallow and non-meaninful judge of people etc. is not. The most important virtue of this thread is respect for all.

Here are some topics that this thread has had:

A Black Vette? Man, how cool was that and he gifted you the tape? I had 4/8 tracks, and used Popsicle sticks underneath the plastic case to jimmy them to track properly, lol. Cassettes sure were a blessing as you could record the LP and bring it in the car. I was in high school when Frampton Comes Alive came out, and saw the LP at a friends house. It had just hit the stores, then within 6 months all the airplay it took off. He never was able to duplicate that success he admitted in interviews, although he tried.

I love live albums, the energy is what it's all about.

Yes, he was a very cool guy...literal genius and although we were 14 years apart, he was also my best friend when I became older.

My love of music began with a series of events beginning with him dropping out of college and being drafted. Just before he left for Vietnam he bought a true stereo system (my dad had built a hi fi system using tubes that rocked the house with Andy Williams). As he was leaving he locked his bedroom door and told me not to go in or touch anything but the temptation of the 'new' music proved to be too much. A few days after he left I used what was to become a well honed skill to pick the lock and go in...I found an album and while it was loading I put the headset on...that is when I discovered Stairway to Heaven.

I played it over and over until he returned at which time he held me by my ankles over the second floor rail until I begged to be forgiven. He finally did after I gave him $5 to replace the album which had been worn out. We shared a love of music and vettes until he passed on to the next level about eleven years ago. He managed to keep all his vettes in one piece but my last one was flipped and rolled...brand new 5 speed...they said I was doing 160 but they measured wrong! :xf.smile:

As I write this I am listening to his best of Pink Floyd disc...

I didn't have an older brother, so my influences were friends. Zep 4- I could listen to it the rest of my life. Of course one of my desert island keepers. I especially liked the live MSG show and when CD's came out, it took me a long time to find it. Then it was stolen from me (my favorite in my collection and could not repurchase it then), and when i went to retrieve it, it started a literal war that I won't go into here but the love of music can certainly cause us to do crazy things.

I missed Alice too (Welcome to my nightmare tour) but that was actually the first cassette I bought with my own money before I owned a turntable- "Schools out", as it was a AM radio hit, and really moved me from Top 40 pop with my transistor radio to stereo. This "Live in Europe" album did not come out on CD forever it took me to find it. The LP I played a lot. Coverdale/Hughes made DP a different sound that I always liked. The Tommy Bolin period, not so much since he was strung out and the live stuff isn't stellar imho. Ritchie returned in the mid 80's and recorded "Perfect Strangers" which I loved, and went to see them live during that tour. Previously I had seen Blackmores Rainbow though with RJD during their first tour. As I recall, Randy Hansen came on after Rainbow, and with his Hendrix show- got the audience so riled up they cut his power off- before he could finish his set and people stated it was Ritchie was the one that called that shot.

Man...did not expect this musical journey tonight...awesome!

Alice...what a master entertainer. I had a 73 grand torino sport that had a cleveland sporting a holly quadra jet that could not be beat...out raced and out ran 35+ challengers and dedicated police officers until one night, because it was good luck to eat black eyed peas on new years day, on the way to a local store I connected with another vehicle. Their car tumbled down the road and I went up on the nose and spun but never rolled. After the sound of the crash subsided this is what I could hear at full volume coming from an 8 track player that was bolted under the dash...

Billion Dollar Babies. Yep, awesome album.
I never had a real muscle car, only a 69' Chevy Nova but had a sucko paint job and a straight 6 column shift.
Those Torino's with 351's with 4 barrels... I liked Challengers a lot, and of course the neighbor had a GTO. The Chevelle and Malibu's body style too I liked, funny I never liked the 69' Camaro for some reason, but it sure was popular. The other day I was talking to someone about driving one 160mph across Texas, and I was surprised as the shake and vibration occurs somewhere about 120 it seems for most older cars I have driven.

You ever go to many drag races? I was fortunate to see a number of events at the two main tracks in LA before they closed. Lions and OCIR. I went once to Pomona in the 90's, but it's not the same now as the 70's.

I never did official track stuff...it was all late night in the middle of nowhere racing. I worked my a@@ off to be able to pay for my 'toys'....wish I had the cash now!

The family of my 'wife to be' were big drag racers from the Cleveland area...my sister in law 'to be' had a 1st husband that actually had a national drag bike title at one time. Went to see an exhibition of a 'jet' car at a big strip in Ohio many years ago where they were racing. I needed to get a better look...it was something never seen before. I climbed up on a fence to get a look over the crowd and all the sudden I noticed the several hundred people that were just around me were gone. Then the after burner kicked in and I had to hold on to a light pole for dear life...smelled of jet fuel and picked grass, straw and what appeared to be hot dog remnants out of my hair and clothing for an hour. The announcer gave me crap for the rest of the night but I got A LOT of free beer!

Your birthday is the 9th and mine is the 10th.
Wish you all the best, do as the doctors order.

With all do respect... Say what needs to be said to family and loved one's. I spoke to my father a day prior to his passing... I wish I would've said more.
