Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

This used to be a place where we could share offer information. I for one, want to know if someone has received an XXXX offer for their VR domain. You said it yourself some good discussions can come of it. You shouldn't have to split off into some private conversation away from public eye in fear of offending certain individuals. We shouldn't be scared off from posting our offers. Yes our offers can be fake, but everyone should be reading everything on the internet with a pinch of salt, i.e. approach everything with a sceptical mind. But if you received 5 offers in the high XXXX range from 5 different people over 5 months that should at least give you the indication perhaps you shouldn't let your domain expire.

I believe premium VR domains will rise in value. This is my opinion. If anyone wants to think I'm giving out facts, just remember I'm not a frickin' fortune teller, I can't see the future. I have no special ability. I'm just a regular guy who is reading the market like the rest of you.

I was just sharing my personal approach mate. As such, I absolutely agree with you too, but for me, I will keep my offers received private or in private spaces. People can post whatever they want and that's ok too. Don't let other people get under your skin. You have great names, you're positively active in the thread, and you're building a real business; for a newer guy, you're doing better than 99%. I was actually looking at your site last night and it looks fantastic. You're doing it right. Ignore the noise and keep growing!

VR thread needs positivity back. :)

That's a good one. If I remember it was on godaddy. I was going to bid and forgot. Congrats, can be used by major company.

There are negative people who bleed negativity all frickin' day and never stop... However you remind me that there are still decent people in this thread that are genuinely good guys, who help others and spread positivity. From what I know of you, you seem to be one of those guys. I enjoy reading your posts and I know you have been at this nearly a decade, so I for one, appreciate anything you have to say and your experience. Honourable veterans are few and far between around here and you sir, definitely come across as a one of them. A lot of us newer guys could learn from veterans like you. P.S. Thank you for the kind words, they are appreciated.

BT Openreach Use VR To Recruit New Engineers
https://www.vrfocus.com/2017/03/bt-openreach-use-vr-to-recruit-new-engineers/

Kevin Brady, HR director for Openreach had this to say: “Everyone wonders what it might be like to work for a company when they apply for a job, but we’re giving people the ability to physically see it and experience it for themselves. We know, for example, that climbing a pole for the first time can be daunting for new recruits, and that’s why we wanted to give people a real insight into what’s involved. Hopefully it will help them to make a more informed decision when they come to apply.”

.....They call it VR but it does seem like just a 360 experience but I say that doesn't matter at this stage. To me, it's all about getting more and more people in different non-gaming environments using headsets and if it works to enhance productivity then expect innovation through reiteration. Better headsets will come out, better experiences will be developed, hopefully true VR experiences and not just 360 ones. You can understand why they have done a 360 experience over a VR experience to start with. A 360 experience can be developed for under $400, all you need is a 360 camera, a headset and stitching software. True VR experiences are a lot more costly, companies will only invest in this once they know that it will make positive outcome to their bottom line and that should happen in time.

Just my opinion.

Oculus: Perfect VR Locomotion Solution is Still ‘Years Away’
https://uploadvr.com/oculus-perfect-vr-locomotion-solution-still-years-away/

If there’s one problem we’re most desperate for VR to solve right now it’s locomotion. Finding a means of movement that keeps players comfortable but retains immersion is one of the biggest challenges the industry faces. In fact, Oculus thinks an “end all, be all” solution is still “years away”.

What is the best VR locomotion you have seen/used? If there is a better VR locomotion concept that doesn't exist what would it be?

I can't really comment on what's the best VR locomotion technique myself, I've seen quite few in videos but never experienced any as I don't have a VR headset, however a concept idea could be the solution is a small device built into the VR headset that detects brain waves. They already have this to control remote control cars. Why not use it to control movement of your hands and feet?

Just Google'd VR and EEG: It seems companies are already venturing into this space.

Unfortunately I don't belong to any boys clubs here whom I can speak with in private about my offers, but I have found the forums to be extremely friendly and helpful in my many years as a member.

I have received two offers on two separate VR names in the last few weeks.

One was actually more of an inquiry rather than an offer. After several emails back-and-forth with no price mentioned (I kept asking for the person to make me an offer..since they were the ones making the initial inquiry....) I no longer heard from them. I sent a follow-up email and they said they found a different name that was suitable. This of course was without us ever discussing a price... so it seemed kind of weird to me.

The second offer... on a different name was for $50.... I threw back a counter and they were steadfast at $50 so I told him to pound sand

A couple of Washington Post articles from earlier this week..

Design firms turn to virtual reality to assist homeowners
https://www.washingtonpost.com/real...2ca986-e1af-11e6-a453-19ec4b3d09ba_story.html

Welcome to virtual reality, the newest tool being used by design-build firms to sell homeowners on renovations. The immersive technology is a step up from two-dimensional floor plans and 3-D computer models in allowing viewers to experience the full depth of spatial relationships and feel like they are inside the rooms of a house. Builders say VR helps homeowners to better understand the dimensions of a space, the impact of light at different times of day and views from one room to the next, so they can make design decisions more quickly.

“Some people have trouble understanding floor plans and two-dimensional drawings, and virtual reality is helpful in allowing them see and experience a space,” says Bill Millholland, executive vice president of Case Design/Remodeling in Bethesda. “It helps them to be more confident and make better decisions about every detail.” Since last summer, Case has been experimenting with a virtual-reality system called Oculus Rift, primarily for kitchen and bathroom projects.

Virtually changing how buyers shop for new homes
https://www.washingtonpost.com/real...4a1a3c-f20b-11e6-b9c9-e83fce42fb61_story.html

“Technology is changing rapidly, but we think the use of virtual reality will reshape and transform how new homes are designed, marketed and sold,” says Tim Costello, founder and chief executive officer of Builder Homesite Inc. (BHI), the parent company of Builders Digital Experience (BDX) and NewHomeSource.com, a builder marketing business based in Austin.

Costello says that while almost no builders are exclusively using virtual reality to market their homes, the number of them experimenting with the technology has increased exponentially in the past year.

thanks @lucid

lol
that was actually a random freebie logo design site on web... so I didn' think too much of it.. and hence followed it up with question post here if people are aware of any good logo design places for VR world specifically.. I seen some great designs and logos for VR domains all over the net.. and I don't really know much about logos so I have no clue if people design these from scratch.. use a free site.. or like a paid site.

cheers

HTC adds 30 more companies to its virtual reality accelerator

HTC is announcing 30 new startups have joined its second batch of companies for its global virtual reality accelerator program.

HTC, the maker of the HTC Vive VR headset, wants to ensure that VR becomes the next-generation platform of computing by seeding startups to make software for the Vive. So it started the Vive X accelerator to fund and train startups in San Francisco, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Taipei.

Has anyone been getting any action on your real estate related names?

the best top ones always get action and offers imo.. stuff like VRestate VRhomes etc...
whereas the lesser quality ones which most of us here own.. imo will just take more time.
... apply same methodology to all niches and areas of VR.

cheers.

Yes, that concept (usually) applies regardless of the niche. Just trying to gauge the level of interest in the category at this point. Whether you have low, medium or high quality real estate/home design related names, have you had any interest, offers or inquires?

I only own a couple .com in there... so I'll let others come up with stats

but the quality of your domain is always directly related to interest you get on it.. offers.. sales.. etc.. but that's stating the obvious... and there are only so many premium realestate vr domains.. the other non premium ones.. will just have to take a number and wait their turn... and in years to come sell for less than premium ones.. again, just stating obvious.

cheers bud

AnimatedVRSeries

Robert Stromberg’s VRC Announces Animated VR Series ‘Raising a Rukus’

Los Angeles-based Virtual Reality Company (VRC) announced a new animated virtual reality series Monday that will be distributed both across headsets as well as in theaters. The first episode of “Raising a Rukus” will premiere in theaters in Canada this spring, and get wider distribution across North America later this summer.

“Raising a Rukus” is the story of two siblings and their mischievous pet dog Ruckus, who are traveling to different worlds and have magical adventures together.

VRC’s co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Robert Stromberg described it as first-of-its-kind animated family entertainment for virtual reality in a recent interview with Variety. “It’s like watching a Pixar short — except that you are immersed in it,” he said. “For the first time, we are taking a ride with these characters.”

Each episode of the show will last 12 minutes, but Stromberg said that some will feature branched narration, allowing viewers to experience the story either from the perspective of the brother or the sister.

VRC, which was co-founded by Stromberg as well as Guy Primus, Chris Edwards and Joel Newton in 2014, is best known for “The Martian VR Experience,” which it produced together with the Fox Innovation Lab. With “Raising a Rukus,” the company is eschewing popular Hollywood franchises to build out its own intellectual property. ”Even ‘Avatar’ wasn’t ‘Avatar’ before making it,” quipped Stromberg.
