Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Just providing information....

- 2 public sales in the past year with the word "singer" according to namebio.
- Only 15 in the past 5 years with an average of $450.
- Singer dot com is nothing to with music.
- Highest public sale was SingerStore dot com for $2000 and is owned by Singer dot com for sewing machines.

It's useful information and past sales of keywords should always be looked at when deciding a fair price to sell, but you also have to consider the VR element. Fulfilling the fantasy of being a singer is going to be pretty huge in VR, I'm sure.

VRSinger also sounds right too, better to my ears than SingerVR or VRSing etc. If SingerStore.com can fetch $2000 then VRSinger could become worth far more than that.

If somebody offered me a choice of Singer.com or VRSinger.com I would choose the latter.

I was the highest bidder early on, then I forgot all about it, hahaha.... I probably would have bid up to $1,000.

I don’t think I would have been too bothered about GymVR, it’s a nice brandable but don’t think I would have been too interested in it personally.

Good as VR is and the potential of haptic technology, doubtful it can make you lift weights, even if it could that would be a health and safety nightmare.

Also what would be the benefits in training in a VR gym over a real life gym? Nothing really, you still need real life equipment and as said above, lifting/using real life equipment without seeing what you’re doing properly is just asking for trouble from a health and safety pov.

So yeah I’m not too sold on fitness in Virtual Reality yet to be honest, the bulky VR headsets how they are now already make you sweat enough as it is, never mind exercising with one on.

Could be wrong, but too many negatives and not enough positives to make it investable in my opinion.

Having now spent many hours playing VR sports games with the Oculus Touch, I'm in no doubt about its future within the fitness industry.

As far as the gym/lifting weights goes, I think VR will be aimed more at aerobic fitness more than strength or muscle building. That said, there's nothing stopping users from wearing wrist weights or a weighted vest while in VR for extra resistance.

But yes, as you mentioned, your headset may get a bit sweaty. :xf.confused:

Each to their own i guess. I like to keep fit, It's not something I'd do though and I'm sure quite a few people will also feel the same, maybe I'm wrong and there will be a market for it but out of all the possibilities for Virtual Reality in what industries it can potentially change, I'm going to stick my neck out and say i can't see many people in the gym having a VR headset on while training.

Maybe there's some good AR/MR possibilities in fitness - Jogging/cycling seeing how far you've ran/traveled/heart rate etc - But then again are nerdy glasses needed for this? All can be done by most wrist watches.

yes I agree to each his own. however we were discussing general possibilities for VR and fitness. not based on my personal preferences or yours. imo. personal preferences will always limit scope of possibiities of anything.

so imo as general possiibilties and potential, of vr+fitness, the link I sent you contains mind blowing number of possibilities and potential. at 1% stage of VR. regardless of whether I will want to use it or participate in any of it. ;) cheers.

True, and the sweaty headset thing is going to be a hurdle for a while (doesn't seem to stop people enjoying smutty vr movies though), but most of us here I guess are thinking ahead to when vr headsets have been slimmed down to glasses (and can switch between vr/mr/ar seemlessly). Hopefully only a few years away if the evolution of mobile phones is any guide.

Every treadmill in nearly every gym comes equipped with audio jacks (and if they're not used it's because the gym user has their own). Imagine with a VR headset and seeing a personal trainer encouraging you, or being transported into an Olympic stadium, or running along a beach etc. That's just one example. Already sports teams are implementing VR in training (some of that is likely just marketing and hype at the moment obviously) so the sweaty bulky headset thing isn't even insurmountable right now. I can also see special vr headsets (with inbuilt fans and sweatbands and so on) being made for gyms.
