So I bought Chris.net and RBT.net at a price I was comfortable with. I sold RBT and made back some of my investment and I was going to sit on Chris unless I got my price. Well, long story short I ended up listing it in the Namescon Auction without really completely understanding it.
  • I am freely admitting I didn't understand how it worked
  • Nobody forced me to list the domain. In fact, I felt honored to be in
I was under the impression that it would be a handful of select names and all would be live auctioned. Nope! I am stuck with hundreds of other great names buried in the stack. Only the top names getting live auctioned. I am stuck at $1,655 with 7 days left. I am going to lose my ass on this name and its my own fault.
  • I have tried contacting every Chris known to man through email and twitter
  • I have Facebook advertised
  • I have twitter advertised
I am out of options - I feel like an idiot. What the hell do I do now, I wish I could just pull it out and sit on it like I had planned. Ugh.

Sucky situation.

You're probably already fed up with emailing people and all but was wondering what was your target group of Chris's. If (and only if) it was the rich and the famous, that might not be the right target group. In my opinion, the people who would benefit the most of this kind of very personal brand are the independent highly paid consultants, specialists, experts, photographers, designers and so on. Just a thought.

I agree web designers, and coders like the .net's, and use their name with their services alot of the time.

Then again this is a higher priced ask, not everyone has 5 figures on the sideslines to spend, maybe open up the talks of a payment plan.

No - rich guy on Shark Tank - twitter investor

He simply does not want .net, his an investors he prefer the .com not the optional names. They are entrepreneur and marketer at the same time. They know second best will only keep them second.

Good luck with your sale.

One thing you could do is use a tool like ZFbot, compile a list of registered domains that begin with 'chris', in .net, even in .com and identify the end users that would benefit from a shorter domain.

Don't fret about it. In no reserve auctions at namejet most of the action is in the last few hours before the auction closes. I'm sure you'll end up with a decent price.

Let me guess, they bullied you into No Reserve.
I think bullied is a little strong here as you it is the owner of the domain who makes the decision. I refused to list Emblems.net for no reserve when they asked me to.

Call it what you want, but keep in mind that many domains of lesser quality were added with a reserve.....I call using influence in a nefarious manner, "BULLYING", at minimum.....So for that reason this is "BULLYING".

The fact that you have 10 bidders a week before the auction ends is a good sign. Activity usually picks up on the last day. What price are you looking for?

Those are not all fresh bidders - I really only have 1 real bidder. namejet picks up anyone who bid within years previously.

I was literally told it wouldn't be listed with a reserve. I wouldn't say bullied but I felt pressure. I am really considering pulling it out and if they kick my name around for a while so be it. If I have a great name at a great price they will forget who I am. Money talks. I will never be able to list at Namejet again.

Your not a volume seller, what do you need namejet for.

Maybe explain your situation, let them know you made a honest human mistake, and see what they say, all they can say is no?

After this post I will, I promise!

But honestly, these click-bait style posts and thread titles are really getting tiresome and also ruining the user experience on NamePros, in my opinion.

Not that my opinion counts, but I'm feeling the need to express it.

I appreciate your feedback but you are wrong about this post and my others. I have taken the advice of many people here who have given their hard earned years of wisdom and sage so that I can better my position. I don't need to get into the details of what I have done, but with the help of some awesome people on this board I am in a better spot for the last 7 days of my auction. Never assume you know someone else's motives. You know what assuming does right? Thank you - have an awesome day.

90% of the bids happen in the last 24-48 hours of the auction. Good luck!

Those stats probably hold true 90% of the time. And, we shall see just how much it rises.

You made a decision stick with it, ( Follow you're gut feeling you had that day! ) End of the day it is not a crap domain name.

What ever you decide Richard, make it the right decision. #NoRegrets

All the action happens at the last moments, just keep doing your best to bring eyes to the auction.
