The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
When I had a first glance on your name, it looked like techaNy instead of techary. R looks like N
Right!

Though I'm not sure if I should be happy because it's one of the rare logos with black background.

Please let me know your thoughts on this:

Logo

I'm not sure if I can sell the name with that logo. :(

I actually quite like it. Let's not forget that logos are a matter of taste.

In any case, I think very few customers will stay away from buying their favorite name just because they are not impressed by the logo.

I'm actually 50-50 on the impact of the logos. I only sold 2 names so far and the first buyer did not use the logo.

Maybe the answer is Fiverr logos get accepted. Whilst you wouldn't necessarily have a portfolio to show BB maybe they should relax this if you are providing logos through Fiverr, after all Fiverr logos are in most cases better than the average BB logo.

Every single week the staff at BrandBucket choose 150 or so names to be added to the New Listings email that is sent out to potential customers. The staff chooses these names based on some sort of criteria. You would think that criteria would be based on the domain alone but it's obvious that's just not true. Every single name on this list has a nice logo and not one has a crappy logo. So the names that stood out to the staff to be chosen for the newsletter are obviously ones that had a logo that caught their attention as part of the choosing process.
If the logo is designed to help the name stand out then your first focus group is obviously the staff from BB that chooses names for this list. They are proof that a good logo is a huge part of the selling process. Every single staff member chose a name that had a nice logo. It's obvious proof that a logo is a huge part in the choosing process. It is no different than a house being staged before it's sold or updating the landscape for better curb appeal. We are a society of what we see that sells us. The whole brandable marketplace was created by adding a nice logo to a mediocre name. Mediocre names normally won't sell unless we make that name look visually appealing. Branding is all around us and we choose companies, products, restaurants etc......all on branding. If it doesn't look good through our eyes then we won't buy it. That's a fact!

As someone with a fairly large portfolio on BB all I can add on the logo discussion is that I think some of you guys are seriously wasting energy worrying about how good or bad the logos are. So long as the human brain can quickly and easily distinguish what the logo says your good to go. If a business is willing to spend $2-3K on a domain there's really no reason for them but to spend $500-1K on a decent corporate identity.

Your time would be better spent auditing the keywords your names are tagged with IMO. Search results on BB are far more important than a subjective view of how ugly or pretty the temporary logo is.
What he said.

Thanks! Its nice to know you agree that Vavogo and Zilenag 'has a nice logo'. These were two domains that were recently discussed.

Its important to remember that everyone has different taste/opinions. But its amazing to see the branding community come together to help make BrandBucket the most talked about, most viewed, and the most popular brandable market place year after year!

Cheers!

I got my second e-mail in three days from Khalan this afternoon.

Do you care to share the names? The last domain you shared in December had a fantastic logo. You claim you sold one with a "bad" logo? I'm curious as to just how "bad" this logo is?

Zilenag 'has a nice logo'

The logo is so generic, you can't even remember what the actual domain is...

or I type fast....

Or your designers deign too fast. Zilenga took what, 5 minutes?

Errors happen. We understand this. But why have such strict protocols for fixing said errors?

I'm done arguing against a brick wall. I'll return with pictures of every logo that sold this year.

I have some fiverr logos that I think are better as well, like these
Can you pm me author's fiverr profiles, please...

Every single name on this list has a nice logo and not one has a crappy logo.
Just thinking about the same yesterday...

Who cares about 2 logos out of 150. Do you even understand the point? When names are chosen for the Featured Listing on BB are they chosen before the name has a logo or after? The names are chosen after the name has a logo. Why is it that the Featured Listings have better logos then the Recently Added? The obvious answer is because the BB staff chose names for the featured listing based on the quality of the logo and not the quality of the name. The name stood out to them because of the logo not the name. Same for a customer wanting to buy a name. The ones that catch the buyers eye most of the time are the ones that have better logos.

When @grilledjesus sold the Kid related name a couple of weeks ago the buyer wanted to make sure the logo was included in the sale. It even seemed like they didn't want the name unless the logo was included. That shows how important a good logo is in selling names.

Grilled J. listed 9 logos he was not totally happy with. Of those 9 logos, 2 of them were in the newsletter that you said has nice logos and not one is ugly. Hence the two Vavogo and Zilenga. (note the other 7 were of similar quality)

I have all my BB domains RANKED in a spreadsheet from my top #1, to my bottom. Not all my domains are equal, or the same price, or get the same traffic, or get an 'equally' artistic logo. Some things turn our better than others, thats just the way life is. BB has 800 sellers and most of them have never asked for 1 logo review. BB is always open to reviewing a logo if a seller is not happy. And BB is always open to reconsidering a domain submission.

But if they decline a domain or logo review for their marketpalce, I trust they understand their audience/customers. Lots of domain investors support themselves off of BB sales alone. Everyone has a different opinion(secret) for success.... apparently whatever BB's secret is, works.

@michaeljkrell, it would be nice if you could answer some questions:

1) Do you really think, that the seller has to pay $100 for these designs?

2) Do you really think, that the buyer will pay $2000-$3000 seeing these?

Grilled J. listed 9 logos he was not totally happy with.

Another member listed 9 logos they were not totally happy with.

I can find 9 other logo's that look exactly like these that I'm not totally happy with if you'd like.

Unfortunately... "Though we understand your opinion, we cannot offer a logo redesign at this time. Please understand that our marketplace and relationship with logo designers is driven by the philosophy that every designer has creative control over his or her work..."

How do you know how much traffic your BrandBucket domains receive?

I'm aware of the sellers option to forward your domains to BrandBucket instead of using NameServers (You can track traffic if you forward)

I was under the impression you couldn't have a ScoreCard if you forwarded your domains instead of using NameServers. I see your domains have ScoreCard's. How do you know the traffic each of your domains receive?

If BrandBucket is all about helping the seller, why do they help other sellers more than others?

I'm relatively happy with most of my logos, but there are some that I just can't stand like EqualPart.com, SteadyTone.com (although the designer tried to make something a little original, I find it terribly ugly), and CustomSection.com for example.

What do you think about them?

@Grilled Jesus Everyone reading this could pick 9 names they don't like from every market place, but no one is willing to waste valuable time on something like that.

@Simdes I sorry to hear your request for review was not approved for a redo. That said, I honestly think that its 100x more important to focus on the keywords AND categories for each of your listings, versus focusing on the logo. A buyer can change the logo, they cant change the domain once bought.

@Grilled Jesus I always park my domains while I wait for BB to review them for approval. During this time I get to see if its a possible income domain. I had one domain that was generating $1-$2 a day and luckily BB denied the name, and it still generates income almost daily. I don't get special treatment, you are just jumping to conclusions.

@Galleshem I dont think they would get approved for a logo redo.(IMO) I like both names and would buy them from you for BB wholesale prices. I own a glass school and I can tell you art is very subjective. We do dozens of art shows every year and I can never guess what items are gonna sell first or what items wont even sell that weekend. My point is, everyone likes something different, and if it doesnt get approved for a logo redo, and you just cant stand it, you can always pass the torch(domain) to one of the 800 BB sellers!

Happy Domain investing!

Would you also buy @Simdes domains at BB wholesale prices?

I would recommend @Simdes move these domains to another marketplace like @Brandroot where they'll provide a professional logo. If he's not happy with it, then they'll work with him to correct the issue. This is more than BrandBucket is doing for him.

This is a very derailed thread at this point. Everything being said about logos has been said miles back. In short, for those prone to repeat:

1. Logos matter to the point that they act as a display of potential. BB has stated that almost none use that logo. (Hence fancier, more timeconsuming and expensive designs would be counterproductive).

2. Design is s u b j e c t i v e to a very high degree. Best keep it simple and not limit appeal.

3. Outright ghastly logos a r e fixed.

Should we discuss this in a new thread?

I have 29 more days left with BrandBucket, and it seems that ex-BrandBucket seller's aren't welcome in this thread.

I'm sure anyone with BB experience is welcome, most certainly those evaluating alternate options. My suggestion is only to read the thread, it's all there about logo quality.
