information First $X,XXX End User Sale Using Outbound Marketing

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Basically, we were able to make our FIRST end user sale using outbound marketing (email) for a sale in the lower $X,XXX range. This may not seem like a big deal to you but it is for us because:
  • We were able to hit our goal before the year ended.
  • Even though we received replies from potential buyers through emails we initially sent them, their prices didn’t match ours. Instead of rushing for the sale we held strong and negotiated rather well.
  • We love eating celebration dinners so we need to continue to make sales.

great
I'm still waiting for mine first outbound!

may I ask you in some general terms whether the prefered email layout strategies in your view (or for this sale) evolve more round simplicity and getting straight to point as fast as possible in fewest word.. or like many people no np seem to claim, making sure all rules of professional etiquette in email are followed, from tiniest dot and coma, to indentations etc..

I personally would vote for former.. as in:

"hello, We are owners of domain BLABLA.com, which is currently for sale. We think it'd benefit your business, and are prepared to price it well for you."

along those lines.. the point being, ffewest words possible. no price. no BS.

I guess in the end what I'm saying is that I'd prefer to read the simpler version if I was the reader.

thoughts?
thanks

Congratulations gentlemen.

For anyone struggling with outbound - it's all in the delivery and patience. Continue to fine tune your pitch & presentation, it's a constantly evolving process until you finally nail it consistently.

Outbound success sales are euphoric; I've sold $xx,xxx outbound to $xxx - and either way it's the same rush.

Different celebrations depending on the amount, but any outbound success is very rewarding.

cool!

I wonder what the stats for people might be.. 1 sale per 100 emails sent? how do you estimate it for you on average? just to get idea.

It all starts with domain name qualification. I buy some names that 'might sell' and play the averages, but these days I'm only interested in generic names that I know I can sell for a profit quickly.

For outbound sales it's all about lead qualification.

I use Google, Bing, and the Zone File* to find solid leads and I will shoot an eMail out to 4 - 8 of the strongest leads that I can find (decision makers), then will move along.

*Just wrote an article on how I use the zone file to find end users

When I started I did try the spammy mass eMail approach (following can spam), but still using targeted leads I landed from a local real estate directory. It was more fail than success, but I did end up selling a $5k domain (bought for $300) that way. But I don't recommend it in general. If i'm not clear on that - dont' spam!

I would say for every 10 eMails I would send pertaining to a domain, three will as the price, and out of those one or two will make an offer

You are so right! I have been trying to fine tune my email responses after i get the response of ..how much? It's definitely a challenge but one worth waking up everyday and asking yourself questions on how the process can improve.

I think the first message should be as simple as possible. Basically a sentence or 2. In our case, we do not quote the price initially because we want to see if the person is interested at all. Once they respond and depending on the response, is when we would throw out the price.

Just remember if you contact someone and then they reply and want to know your price, telling them to "make an offer" would be silly because YOUR the one contacting them. This is different if it's an INBOUND offer, then the make an offer strategy makes some sense. But if you are reaching out to them, you better have some type of price in mind.

Thanks for the comment!

2 word .com. (Service + Geo). Searches wasn't to many around 320 exacts/monthly I believe. For leads I would have to double check with @Willox Perez but I am sure it was under 100. Maybe more like 70. I think we got 3 or so responses and went from there.

Thanks!

Congrats. I remember when I made my first $xxxx sale from outbound. It's an extra special feeling because you feel it wasn't so much "by chance", you know you earned it, you made it happen.

To many more.

To follow up on this yes it was around 60 or 70 related sites on Zfbot.com and got a couple more from Google Search.

We received 3 lower offers in the mid XXX but we held off since we really wanted to hit X,XXX so a few days later the 3rd offer came in and it was a strong XXX, negotiated and closed the deal =-D

Thanks what are your thoughts on Laser treatment dot net?

Laser Treatment is a good keyword but I would prefer it in .com when it comes to .net domains we usually focus on the one word keywords these tend to do a lot better.

Truly felt that way since we wanted to make it happen for the end of the year and we got it done. Yes to many more indeed.
