This story starts with DNF; a barren wasteland that once was a leading forum within the domain industry. While the forum itself played a huge role in propagating the myth that is Adam Dicker, the story really begins with DNF College in the summer of 2011.

Updates / Reports
These are in no particular order.

From what I understand, Adam still owes north of $33,000 to previous customers and business partners. As I receive more information, I will update this figure.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
What I really want to know is how that private conversation was received in the first place. I'd like to think it wasn't intentionally shared as I have a ton of respect for Cyger.

What was your association with Adam? I don't know him either, but to put the story in perspective it would help if we knew how it relates to you. Like with the Flippa story, we knew your past relationship and that actually made the story more credible.:?:

As far as I know, I have no past encounters with Shane but i do with his source.

Interesting idea, its called 'linkbait'.

Couldn't imagine a worse target for that though, negative SEO is easy these days, the subject has a reputation management business.... he'll know how to use negative SEO.
LMAO! What is then Link Juice? And traffic? All in one package :D

so, what's his gain?

You still don't get it my friend? His gain is traffic from this forum, to his blog. Remember "site popularity".

PS: Would appreciate if you PM me any further questions regarding this (SEO), so that you, I and others can keep the thread on topic.

Thanks,

I am so glad I am not your friend (or enemy) Shane, and I mean that in the most respectful way :) By not being your friend we never had any business deals that could later be exposed, or spun, if something went wrong. Your "scorched earth" manner is fun to read, probably not so fun to be a part of. You are the Chris Hansen of domaining. B-)B-)

As Adam has noted, there is no relationship.

It might be hard to believe but I do have friends and they have been hurt by him in multiple ways.

Oh no I totally agree with you, I actually updated my post immediately to mention not burning bridges.

Ironically the chat transcript between Cyger and Dicker is the perfect example of NOT burning your bridges.

Dicker is being dropped by Cyger.

Now, I bet Cyger had to be very upset with Dicker to do that, and I bet Dicker was very angry with Cyger.

But Cyger knows better than to kick people on their way down, because he knows that they can bounce back, they may be of value to each other again in the future, and he knows that if he did kick him on the way down then Dicker would be waiting patiently for the day that he could do the same back.

Dicker knows that Cyger has been of great value to him, and that time is a great healer, and that there may be a time when his affairs are crisp and clean again and a time in the future when they may be able to mutually benefit eachother again.

Plus there may be some genuine respect and affection of course, but even if there was none at all, they were both wise enough to know that that they have nothing to gain from terminally damaging the relationship but just putting it on the back burner.

Which is effectively the opposite to what Shane did with Flippa, which was make the decision to burn the bridge. Motives remain unclear, which is why I find it fascinating and am looking forward to seeing what the long term goal is.

So your're jumping in front of the D-train in hopes of what? TRUTH???

He won't admit to what he's done especially the things I've yet to post about.

It's not hard to believe at all. Maybe your friends being hurt is the motivation I'm trying to understand? With Flippa, I could see that you were wronged and that you saw their actions were hurting others. So your empathy for your friends is not in question. I was/am just struggling a little in the motivations for writing this. Anyway, good luck with it, whatever the end goal is.

But Cyger knows better than to kick people on their way down

Their chat (though it should have never been posted in my opinion) actually did nothing but make both Cyger and Dicker seem like class acts quite honestly.
Looking forward to hearing more though from both sides of the story though before passing judgement on anyone.

So what are you waiting for? The traffic on your blog to die down?
Post the full story to prove your side of "The Truth".

There are many shady practices in the industry.

With that said - I am waiting Shane to get angry with AliZandi/Perception/KCGroup/etc ... This will be really interesting.

In the Flippa "eyes opening" thread , Shane defended his actions to keep silent for so long and take the profits from Flippa shady practices calling it "business".

Now - why Dicker is not "businessman", but a "criminal" ? Oh... forget it... I am just taking the popcorn...

I believe that in your case your expecting that Patience is a PROFIT.

Clearly, look at all those advertisements on that custom theme.

Hmmm.... Well the $29 to $299 thing doesn't paint a picture of Dicker being whiter than white. Although I don't know what laws exist in the US about that. In the UK you have to sell something at X price for at least 28 days before you can claim that it is the RRP when you discount it. E.g. you can only write $999 reduced to $599 if you actually did sell the item for $999 for at least a month.

Cyger does come across as a really good guy, who gives a leg up to new domainers, like Shane Bellone ironically. But you do have to wonder whether he got kick backs for the numerous flippa related videos he did over the past couple of years. Again, I don't know what the rules are in the US, but in the UK you now have to disclose if you've been paid for an article or video.

There are parts that are true and parts that are simply untrue. Your source sent me an email saying that I had Until October 5th to pay a certain amount or they would release info they THOUGHT were true.

The things you posted that were not true makes you libel.

There is definitely another side to this story.

I have made mistakes no question about it and I plan on staying in front of them.

Adam Dicker

It's a fair response.

Thanks for sharing this link. I did not read this article.

You're welcome. It is and was troubling to me. The odd thing to me is that this guy is given guest-speaker status at domainer conferences/conventions. Equally odd to me is that I never read anything negative about him at DNJournal.

It seems to me to be an incestuous business, this domain aftermarket thing.

can we link our own blog in the news or blog thread? i just saw this trend started by other member here @Omar Negron last week. Is this allowed?

Hey.

Yes, as long as you put it in correct section in the forum. I spoke to the a few moderators and was told to put any news like this in the "news" section. Then you can link back to a source.

I didn't know I started the trend though...lol. This was being done well before me..lol

This information did not come from thin air. Everything in there is backed by fact, however, my sources wish to remain anonymous. Adam has threatened some with legal action and others are worried about being shunned from the industry. If I wasn't certain that this mess was true I wouldn't have published it due to libel and defamation of character laws.

I'm sure he'll sue me anyways but I'm comfortable with that. Counter lawsuits are fun.

All I can say about this is..... what do you think pastebin is for and why do you think literally all whistleblowers and hackers use it?

If your source had uploaded to pastebin you could have embedded it into to your blog and then had personal immunity against the notion that you'd handled information obtained improperly.

And i didnt like that Cyger told him "cant tell you exactly why, you just have to stop the show". I HATE THAT. Not nice to take negative action on someone and not give them the reasons why you're doing so.very frustrating and unfair to the person receiving that.

After reading it, you have to assume that Adam knows precisely why. But like others have said, that was a great example of how not to burn bridges.

That blog is a small part in your path to become "Domain name Savior" goal.
Don't get me wrong, without taking sides you're calling a turd a turd but the manner in the way you're handling it only the T-shirt you are wearing can explain it better.
