Hi Guys,

What will be the future for .wtf domains?

Will be considered under adult category or fun category?

I wonder how ICANN would explain the necessity for such an extension..

People will say wtf was ICAAN thinking to launch those wtf domains? They died a slow death in a couple of years after launch..

Guess the future of .wtf will consist on around a few thousands of renewals a year at max. Would not buy anyone of those ever.

Before all the new gtld's were up and running, I was joking that someone should start a wtf registry. Then I saw somebody actually did D-:  ...

That's drunk domaining gone to the extreme. Instead of waking up with 50 bad names, a whole registry. :xf.grin:

LOL..i think wtf.wtf is the only domain which will have a resale value...first one for second one....

I think domains like fail.wtf, tshirt.wtf, prank.wtf will have some value over time. Overall, one of the less valuable extensions, imo. Nowhere near as bad as .ooo or is it .000... At least with .wtf there is a fairly defined niche you can go after, viral videos, crude humor or fail videos. Plus maybe there will be some personal name.wtf s that would hold a nominal value. For example, I would enjoy owning tom dot wtf, but some other tom in the world beat me to it. That might not be a big markup niche, but I would think there would be more of a niche for name dot wtf than name dot ooo or is it 000....

Was about to write something similar. Wouldn't be too surprised to see some kind of viral whatever site taking off on .WTF... Not my fave nGTLD but 3 characters and one of the most common Internet slang acronyms... I don't consider it investment-grade extension but kinda like it nevertheless.

Well see there is the thing about a lot of new gtlds some maintain a novelty appeal that some may use, but no one is ever paying an investor more than reg fee, too many options. The key for registries is there enough people out there who will like the novelty aspect of your niche extension, Is the juice worth the squeeze ?

Hmmm, but then would he be, iam.david, david.david, lastname.david, 1.david, blog.david, me.david? It's all so confusing, lol. Maybe he could create a forum, all.david, where only people named David could join.

Most .wtf domains will be losing, investment wise, with the others only giving off a minimal return. I might pay $75 for tom.wtf, as a novelty, but that's coming out of my 'fun' budget, not my business interests, so I would not be giving large offers. Still, there are a lot of Toms in the world, if I bid it up to $75, some other Tom going to outbid me.

Looks like a programmer took the name Tom the guy worked on Playboy and Playmates.com.

Let's be serious: nearly EVERY new gTLD will fail. How many websites could .menu truly work for, for example? .nyc is for one city in the world, thus it's extremely limited. .wtf has no reason for existing and will become "just another inbred cousin of .name" soon.
