Here's Godaddy's explanation for Applying In-Store Credits to Purchases:

When you make purchases on our website, you can use In-Store Credit the same way you use other payment options, such as credit cards.

If you have In-Store Credit available, the payment method defaults to it when you check out. If your order total exceeds the amount of In-Store Credit you have, you must select another payment option for the remaining balance.
To Apply In-Store Credits to Purchases

Select a product, and then click Add To Cart.
Optional: Select any offers you want to add.
Review your shopping cart, and then click Continue to Checkout.
The Select Your Payment Method section defaults to In-Store Credit.
If the order total exceeds your In-Store Credit, select an additional payment method for the remaining balance.
Select that you have read and agree to the Universal Terms of Service, and then click Place Order Now.

The groupon t&c's say limit 1 per person. However, you can buy 1 per city and even use the same credit card. just search google for this deal and you will see multiple cities. you can buy 1 cert per city. If you do get multiple certs GoDaddy will accept them. I bought 3 and they all worked and were accepted by GD.

I used 3 Groupon codes in 1 godaddy account. The promotional value expires in feb - the base value that you paid does not expire. But I plan on spending all of it before then, no problem.

(to purchase multiple groupon deals, you may have to switch cities on groupon).

If the coupon code gives a higher discount than the club price then you'll get the coupon code pricing.

If the coupon code gives a lower discount than the club price (for example a COM renewal with a discount code is $8.67, with the club it's only $8.37) then you'll get the club pricing.

So basically you'll always pay the cheapest price automatically.


On another note: Has anyone tried the following?

1. First get the groupon code mentioned above (pay $25 and get $70 of credit) and redeem it.

2. Then join the Godaddy discount club and at checkout use code LKSRTLMENT to make the yearly price of the DDC drop to $45 per year (instead of $90 per year).

3. Pay that $45 with your in-store credit. So you'll have $25 of instore credit left ($70-$45)

In other words you paid $25 for a groupon code and you end up with a 100% FREE godaddy discount club membership for a full year since you still have $25 of in-store credit left after you purchased the club membership.

note: code LKSRTLMENT only works for a new membership, not for renewing it, so this trick can only work if you're not yet a member of the DDC.

These codes both give $0.99 .com registrations and transfers and are valid for up to 3 domains:

gofa4004ha (US and Canada ONLY) - Just tested in UK but whilst it lets me enter the code and gives the discount for three .com transfers, the card payment won't go through - could someone in US or Canada please try? Edit: doesn't appear to be working

cju99d - Just tested in UK and WORKED on three .com transfers, total $3.51 including ICANN fee! Edit: whilst this is supposed to be for UK only, it's also currently working in the US and Canada and may also work in other countries. Definitely worth a try! Credit card and check only - no PayPal.
