Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

Good question if google keeps them local to the country of extension ?

Will .rs only be good for Russia ??

However surely with all the new Gtld's coming our way it will be the content that really matters

They are harder to rank but it still works (at least 1-2 months ago). I tried ranking 3 domain hacks in google.com, 1 failed (.me hack) but I blame it on the crappy platform I was using (loads of on-page panda issues), another ranked for some low-mid xx.xxx exact match keywords on page 1 (also a .me domain) but this was like a year ago and the other (a 2 word .kg hack LOL) took off real nicely. Before the recent Google slap, for the .kg domain I was on page 1 for 5 of the biggest weight loss terms in Google.com and ranking for a lot of highly competitive long tail weight loss keywords on page 1 and 2 with my inner pages. I am still getting about 80 visitors a day from Google.com but I abandonned all developments now, sitting back and waiting for the final slap.

If you want to overcome the geo targeting you need to host your domain on a US server (for google.com), ideally you want to choose a domain hack that has no fixed geo targeting (.me for example) but as you can see it worked for me, unless .kg is not fixed which I doubt LOL.

It's on the perverted side, but it works as a hack I guess. :D

That was a nice offer. :tu: I would've accepted it though. But hey, that's just me.

Was that the first and final offer? Or did you negotiate to that point?

If you are receiving similar offers regularly on the domain, then I guess your decision is justified.

I would've taken the $7k offer as well as it's definitely a strong price for that name IMO. Sometimes it is worth taking an offer rather than waiting another few years & hoping for a better one.

$7k sport.al? Take the money and run, don't be spoiled by your last big .al sale. I just sold 10 nice .al hacks this week on ebay (thru a friend) for $2500 total including 1 sold directly to another domainer, all sales were in the $100-$500 range, nothing crazy but I wanted to clear out quickly and just keep Roy.al in my portfolio and maybe 4 other names (not quite decided yet),

I still got those here, drop me a PM if you're interested - motivated to sell ;):

Funer.al
Gener.al (might keep)
Genit.al
Loy.al (might keep)
Ment.al (might keep)
Seneg.al (might keep)

That was the final offer and I had previously suggest my final offer which was higher.
Therefore I halted the negotians.
I have not receive other offers (that was the first offer. The domain is not placed for sale and it was me contacting the other party first).

There are a dozen of "sportal" websites and some of them pretty influencing in different countries:
sportal.com, .net
sportal.com.au
sportal.bg, .rs, .it, de, co.in, .se, etc etc

There is just one domain hack for a SPORT PORTAL and the way I see it, domain hacks are trending and gaining momentum! Holding on to this jewel for a while :)

Hey Toni,
Don't get me wrong but your domains are worthless exept for Ment.al :) Good deal on 2500$.

Something we need to understand, not every domain hack has value!!
A domain hack is valuable only and only if it creates a hack some one is "addicted" to use! Find such a domain and you can sell it for the "addiction" price! :)

I'm curious why Ment.al has value over the others?
