It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

I'd sponsor an ice cream eating contest. Winner get's a headache :)

These aren't end-use prices. Pool's audience are domainers / speculators looking for value.

Of course I know they're not end users. They are still low numbers for a speculator to have in his pocket as comps.

And I always buy with the end user in mind. I hope everyone does. They're the target.

Can we pick our own flavor for the contest?

Yes! Pick from any of Baskin Robins 31 Flavors.

I hope ask.pro and fit.pro are used and not just redirected. Maybe Ice Cream Innovations would be interested in icecream.pro.

What would you do with it? Open an ice cream store? Maybe sell supplies to people that sell ice cream?

A site selling home ice cream makers, supplies and accessories could do well with either affiliate programs, direct advertisers and/or drop shipping.

For those who are considering drop shipping solutions, THIS COMPANY doesn't take a piece of the action (one time only fee) and offers a directory in which only manufacturers and/or warehousing distributors are listed. No middle man.

For the sake of time I'm going to give you my top four and try to pull out a few more later. The plurals, in most cases, are tough simply because they don't sound right. But these are my top tier picks. The second tier gets a little tougher because of the plurals.

Animal.pro - blows them all away with over 2,000,000 exact searches.

Building.pro - I think that "building" has a thousand applications and is a great name.

Moscow.pro - I think that the jury is still out on geos but that's definitely one of the good ones. Don't give it away.

Risk.pro - insurance companies

Mens.pro - is close to being in my top group.

And now ... let the beatings begin.

Women's (womens.рro)
Woman's (womans.рro)

Woman is sinular and Women is plural. Putting an apostrophe in the descriptions doesn't help.

These are all very nice:

Horoscopes.рro

Offers.рro

Risk.рro

Moscow.pro

MakeMoney.рro

NewCars.рro

Moscow is the clear winner though.

Haven't used that company but used to make a lot of LTL shipments with Old Dominion. They ultimately screwed me. They had the bad habit of misplacing a box from time to time if it stayed on the loading dock for more than half a day.

Buildings.рro or Building.рro
Horoscopes.рro or Horoscope.pro
Offers.рro or Offer.pro
Animals.рro or Animal.рro

Just be careful with plurals. If you owned a national chain of oil change centers do you want ...

OilChanges.pro or OilChange.pro?

If you sell golf balls do you want ...

GolfBalls.pro or GolfBall.pro

Good search numbers don't always translate into a good name. A name also needs to sound natural.

Fashion.pro has just gone to auction at Snapnames. Bid is currently $280 with 3 days to go. I think something like IceCream.pro could be useful for making ice cream at home but not selling it. Search volume has little bearing on .pro valuations, .pro is about branding and brands are always short and singular.

Fashion.pro is an awesome name. I hope the bidding cuts loose. Anyone brave enough to set the over / under??

Total .pros registered to December 2010 increased by 2.9% during the month from 52,609 to 54,120. I am analsying RU Center separately now, registrations increased by 24% in December from 2,598 to 3,228. Encirca registrations have fallen for 6 months in a row, they should consider charging $9.95 to register and renew.

Its a hard one without knowing who's bidding/ how long to go. Given other .pro snapnames auctions I'll guess between 3k-5k

I want to go out on a limb and say $12K but that's why I lose the ranch when I gamble. Fashion is a super strong name but like you said I don't know whose bidding.

But I'm going to take Over on $5,000.

And I just realized that we've been talking about SnapNames (not sedo) ... but I'll stay with $5K and a prayer.

Has anyone done any checking around? Last time I looked there were a lot of Pro registrars. I'll check around over the next few days unless someone already has some information.

I added a chart on Total.pro today that shows average daily .pro WHOIS searches jumped threefold in 2010. I'm going to track this monthly along with total .pros registered.

Who is pulling up all of that Whois data ... registrars, speculators, end users?

And what happened in May to generate that spike?

The WHOIS searches would presumably be people interested in registering a .pro domain or wanting to know who owns it. There isn't a spike in May, have you got your monitor upside down? May is the low point.

OK. The spike that began sometime in May and reached it's first plateau in June.

I see that Site.pro sold on Bido for $1072 on March 24. I've never seen a Pro even get a vote on Bido.

Difficult to say what would cause the rise post-May 2010, for all we know it could be because somebody wrote a script to query the WHOIS one record at a time automatically. June 2010 was when the 1, 2 and 3 character .pros were allocated. However, if you look back at past spikes, they coincided with landrushes so the data is probably fairly reliable in terms of general interest levels. Thanks for the heads up on Site.pro, I have added it to Total.pro.
